Half of it is age the other is new games suck these days.SonicWaffle said:I really am. I never thought I'd see the day, but here it is. I cannot be bothered to play video games anymore.
It began a few months ago, when my habits began to change. Usually I'd come home, stick whatever I was currently playing through in the Xbox, and spend a few hours with it. More and more, though, I found myself coming home, looking at my games collection, and thinking "meh". On weekends I used to wake up early and get a solid few hours of playing time, whereas now I'm more likely to watch crap TV instead. The last game I played all the way through was Mass Effect 2, which managed to keep my attention throughout. Since then, my rental company has sent me a ton of other games, most of which I've played for a few hours and sent back, regardless of how fun they were.
The real kicker was Red Dead Redemption, a game I'd been anticipating for a long time. Hell, I even pre-ordered it, which I've never done for a game before. I love the game - it's fun, incredibly atmospheric, and the story is good enough to keep my attention. At first I was doing everything; treasure hunting, random events, poker games, the ambient quest thingies like hunting or flower picking. Unfortunately, around the point I opened up the third area of the map, I just stopped playing. Occasionally I'll pop the disc in and attempt a mission, or kill some wolves, but I'll soon be bored again.
The thing is, I still want to play games. I'm still getting games from my rental service (Brutal Legend and Aliens vs Predator currently, both of which I've played briefly and turned off) and I still get the urge to play my games, but whenever I try my attention wanes. I still haunt these forums to talk about games, and read the gaming news for things I'm looking forward to, but that's as far as it goes.
I don't know what to do about this. I've become a gamer who doesn't game. Does anyone have any suggestions?
It was the same with me a while ago, before I got the PS3 and couldn't even play online. I opened the drawer where every of my48 PS2 games were, sighed, and then closed it again.kman123 said:Yeah, i look at my game collection, ponder what to play, sigh, than close the drawer.

Seriously, just walk away. Give me your pump, the oil, the gasoline, and the whole compound, and I'll spare your lives. Just walk away and we'll give you a safe passageway in the wastelands. Just walk away and there will be an end to the horror. I await your answer. You have a full day to decide.
...wait.
That actually worked for me once; just replace IRC with "That one Shakespeare that I really hate"Nickisimo said:OK, here's a quick fix:
Go to a local library. Ask for a copy of the Internal Revenue Code and start reading it from the beginning. Our studies have shown that gaming interest will reappear in roughly 2-4 minutes.
You give me as much gas as I can carry and I'll drive that tanker.WanderFreak said:Stop playing NOW.

I've been through the same thing recently but eventually I realised that I wasn't bored of gaming, I was bored of modern gaming and was craving something more interesting than the piles and piles of "spectacle" shooters and simplified RPGs etc.SonicWaffle said:I really am. This has actaully happened to me a few times, not just with gaming eitherSonicWaffle said:I really am. I never thought I'd see the day, but here it is. I cannot be bothered to play video games anymore.
