I think it happens to everyone, especially in the humidity. I go through phases where I just exist and can't find the energy or interest in doing ANYTHING.
I don't get Bejewelled. There was a time when everyone was playing it, so I gave it a go, and couldn't get into it. It was over so quickly it just wasn't fun. Reactions are not my strong point.silver wolf009 said:Other than that try some really addicting games like bejewled
I already do that kind of thing now, to be honest. In fact I spend way more time out on the piss than is healthy. I'm not the "sit at home and play games every night" type of gamer. The problem I'm having is that even when I do get a perfect chance to play some games, I don't do it, and I don't know why. It isn't boredom, because I'm still interested in the games, it's just...something else. I dunno.dathwampeer said:Never said it'l be cheap. But a few weeks of constant pissups and whatever else will likely take your mind off of gaming long enough to get you interested in it again. Not to mention sometimes you just need to get out and do something different. I used to be out every weekend. But like you money is just to precious to be wasting £80-100 ever friday on booze. So i just go every now and again now. But after changing your habbits for a while, you'll soon be wanting to brag about headshots again.
Motivational wolves? The only thing wolves motivate me to do is run away from them...The Jakeinator said:Buy Flash, Make a Game.
I should be one of those motivational wolves.
I know the feeling well. I tend to get it with especially long games, where I get to a point and think "fuck it, to hell with the sidequests, I just want to get to the end". Oblivion was a good example, even though I never actually finished. I'm not a big fan of the main plotline, so I got to within a few missions of the end and couldn't make myself keep going. Fucking Oblivion gates, you are so boring...ButanicXpandA said:i also get this feeling, where doing missions in games/ progressing feels like a chore, i get this in RPG games nowadays, if i see that i must grind to defeat a boss, i simply will not bother.
So I'd be playing on WoO? I like the sound of thatJonnoStrife said:Okay, you need to get a copy of WoW. This means either being illegal and cheating it off of the European Site or buying the disk. Either way it'll take a while to download. Then you just change the server list to one of the millions of good ones out there. Plus they range from Blizlike servers to instant 80's and everything in between. If your interested, you should try World of Opportunities.
Sad but true: during the day, I am a trainee accountant. I'd probably even understand some of the Revenue's bollocks. That doesn't make it any less dull, but I'd probably be able to bear it more easily!Nickisimo said:OK, here's a quick fix:
Go to a local library. Ask for a copy of the Internal Revenue Code and start reading it from the beginning. Our studies have shown that gaming interest will reappear in roughly 2-4 minutes.
I disagree, a lot of the games I've played that were released within the last couple of years were awesome. Bad games are not the problem here. Hell, I've got Red Dead Redemption, one of the best games I've ever played, and it isn't doing anything for me anymore.ZippyDSMlee said:Half of it is age the other is new games suck these days.
Yeah, I'd say you are ;-)FieryTrainwreck said:Just the natural progression of a hardcore gamer.
You've probably played a lot of major releases, and had a lot of fun in the process. You're looking to continue that enjoyment, but the latest AAA titles aren't inspiring the same feelings. You can't understand your disinterest, because the games are plainly amazing - great graphics, design, etc. Why aren't you psyched anymore?
The sad truth is you're evolving as a gamer. The same canned gaming experiences aren't going to satisfy you at this point. You need to seek out more challenging and original material, and that means stepping outside of the mainstream.
I... might be projecting.
OH NO! NOT DEATH! I hear that DEATH can lead to severe cases of not being alive anymore! It's true, my doctor told me so.joshuaayt said:OH MY GOD
Dude, that is NOT normal. Please, I'm worried about you- see your doctor, ASAP.
My doctor said once that lack of interest in video games is a possible symptom of many things, including DEATH.
I do have other stuff going on in my life - I read a lot, I go out with my mates, I attend college once a week, I work full-time, I have a huge DVD collection. Gaming is still my favourite though, or used to be.Chromwell said:I've found that having hobbies aside from videogames help me enjoy them a lot more. I started working fulltime recently in addition to forming a baseball team, so I've barely had time to play videogames. However, when I do play, I have the time of my life!
Very wise words! I felt the same as mentioned in the first post. When I bought 'Red Dead Redemption', 'Dragon Age Origins' and 'Alan Wake' I walked away from them extremely unimpressed. When I was just flat out bored with the new AAA titles coming out (E3 included, 2010/11 will be such a boooring year for gamers), I played some SNES, PS1, PS2 and Xbox titles I never got to finish.wooty said:I was thinking the same thing, until I bought FFIX and MGS off the psn, now I remember what gaming was all about
try playing an rts game with a bit more depth then that tbhSonicWaffle said:For me, that'd actually be something old. Back in the day RTS was just about all I'd play. I did try re-installing Red Alert 2 recently, and had a couple of skirmish games, but haven't touched it since. It was still fun, but it couldn't grip me.
.
First thing I will say: try and finish RDR, the storyline alone is well worth it just to see what happens and how it plays out.SonicWaffle said:I really am. I never thought I'd see the day, but here it is. I cannot be bothered to play video games anymore.
It began a few months ago, when my habits began to change. Usually I'd come home, stick whatever I was currently playing through in the Xbox, and spend a few hours with it. More and more, though, I found myself coming home, looking at my games collection, and thinking "meh". On weekends I used to wake up early and get a solid few hours of playing time, whereas now I'm more likely to watch crap TV instead. The last game I played all the way through was Mass Effect 2, which managed to keep my attention throughout. Since then, my rental company has sent me a ton of other games, most of which I've played for a few hours and sent back, regardless of how fun they were.
The real kicker was Red Dead Redemption, a game I'd been anticipating for a long time. Hell, I even pre-ordered it, which I've never done for a game before. I love the game - it's fun, incredibly atmospheric, and the story is good enough to keep my attention. At first I was doing everything; treasure hunting, random events, poker games, the ambient quest thingies like hunting or flower picking. Unfortunately, around the point I opened up the third area of the map, I just stopped playing. Occasionally I'll pop the disc in and attempt a mission, or kill some wolves, but I'll soon be bored again.
The thing is, I still want to play games. I'm still getting games from my rental service (Brutal Legend and Aliens vs Predator currently, both of which I've played briefly and turned off) and I still get the urge to play my games, but whenever I try my attention wanes. I still haunt these forums to talk about games, and read the gaming news for things I'm looking forward to, but that's as far as it goes.
I don't know what to do about this. I've become a gamer who doesn't game. Does anyone have any suggestions?
