That's just the way they are, these kids have had practically a decade of abuse from their own parents (probably) a bunch of idiots with degrees asking them "how does that make you feel" and giving them medication is not going to counteract their years of abuse. In a way even the attackers are victims, victims of the vicious circle that is slowly engulfing more and more people every day.

There are so many better methods of punishment.

I'm not condoning the death penalty, but what else do you do? In order for a person to do this kind of damage, they must be seriously screwed up in some way -- perhaps their upbringing, or a complete lack of conscience. Whatever the case, what punishment would be enough to deter them and reform them into a normal person again? Sticking them in a prison for 25 years usually doesn't do the trick, as we've seen thousands of times with our penal system. Extensive therapy, constant monitoring, keeping them locked away for the rest of their life -- what can be done to fix them, and if nothing can be done, why keep them around as both a risk to the public and a drain on the country's resources?

I never said that they would be completely cured, but if any good can be done, then it must be done.

Yeah but their moral compass is screwed more than most, supposedly your mind stops developing around the ages 12-16 (start of puberty) so they would need some rapid therapy treatment to reverse them, and the fact they performed the act has scarred them, people forget they were there, they saw the blood and pain and they continued, i cant even begin to imagine how fucked up inside you must be to do that.
