The Wii is the PS2 of this generation. It's install base is so big that shovel-ware is impossible not to have because even if the games suck they still sell. Think about it, how many bad games were put on the PS2 and still sold. In the end PC is still the best for gaming.

They cherry picked those scenes. Trust me, some of the more recent screen shots shed light upon the poor quality of the graphics. Plus at the bitmap at 1:15 is one of the worst I've ever seen.
Excuse me, what?

I get the feeling you don't really know your graphics lingo. Are you talking about the skybox?

Either way, other than a somewhat iffy skybox at that particular point in the game, about 95% of the scenes and objects I've seen in the game look pretty great. Sure, not on Xbox 360 levels (or gaming PC, for that matter), but close enough to feel the casual spectator.

And not only does the game look worlds better than the average Wii game, but it also has controls far superior to any FPS previously released on the platform. Quite possibly the best console FPS controls ever.

I'll save judgment on the intentionally clichéd plot for when I've actually played through the game.

The Wii is not necessarily bad, it just really only has a handful of good games. everytime someone writes about, i hear the same about ten titles over and over, while the rest is a bunch of minigames in a single game or VS games (which aren't bad, but DLC shouldn't be a console selling point). My big problem with nintendo is the marketing design of the company. All of their main series, like Zelda, Mario, used to be Metroid, and SSB, the only make ONE GAME per generation. Thier idea is to make one to maximize it's sales on that console, which is a giant middle finger to their fans, it really is. This wasn't as noticed in past generations of Nintendo because they still had a decent third party developer base that made good games, where as now none of the good third parties want to design games for them because it's too much of a hassle, so all your left with is released main series games and random games that generally aren't that good. My final reason why Nintendo isn't that good is that it made a system that is geared to the casual gamer. And i don't say this because i believe "hardcore or die", it's because it's a bad marketing choice. The casual audience doesn't play their system, every day, every week, sometimes not even every month, and they never keep track of releases or an eye out for games they like. Most of the people i know who don't really play games but bought the Wii haven't played it in months except for the once in a while when a friend comes and they through in Wii Sports. So, no, the Wii isn't necessarily bad, it's that the first party isn't making games, the third party doesn't make good games because they don't like the Wii, and it's target audience really doesn't give a crap. Sidenote, i found it hilarious when the Wii released it's improved motion sensitive thing, because the first thought through my head was, "shouldn't they have gotten it right the first time?"

Every time I play Farcry 2, and Fall Out 3 for my 360...then my girlfriend puts on Ray man raving rabbids. I kinda cry at the horrible, horrible graphics.

I know they went out to make a "fun" system, but FFS!

Expensive white Paper weight.

As far as I can see....nintendo are swimming in profit so it definetly isn't bad for them...

As for the buyer, people play what they want to play...

I personally think their isn't much appeal (Although having a load of zelda titles from the virtual console is pretty cool), but I'm a PC gamer so that was a fairly obvious conclusion...

Yes and no. There is a heavy amount of shovelware, yet games like Mad World and No More Heroes are amazing and impossible on other systems

Me and my friend spend entire nights on SSBB. Mostly because of our childhood with the original and Melee. If it wasn't for that there wouldn't be any motivation to get one.

No way, I had lots of fun with PS2 games and I owned 20+. It comes to how high your standards are.

Well, I used to like it. But now, it's just kiddie games, and 'casual games'. Brawl was good, as well as the new zelda, but that's about it. I'm just waiting for the next generation, hopefully they'll go back to the controller idea.
There is a classic controller or you can use gamecube controllers on the Wii, a lot of games support them (though not all)..

Kinda sick of the "Nintendo doesn't make good games anymore".. when frankly games like Metroid Prime 3, Twilight Princess, and Super Mario Galaxy are some of the best games Nintendo has ever made.

They still make AAA titles guys. Most of the shovelware is actually 3rd party offerings.

Yes, Wii fit is aimed at a different demographic as is Wii music.. but let's face it, everyone's at least had some fun with Wii sports, on occasion.

Hell next month they're bringing us Punch Out!!

Which is, while maybe not as violent and "Mature gaems for mature gamers like myself" as 3rd party boxing titles.. is a classic series that should appeal to core gamers.

It's also a game that should work well with the Wii's control system, being able to throw punches. Because of the fatigue system and such, you won't just be able to mindlessly swing the remote and nunchuck back and forth to beat people, You'll have to be more strategic about it than in Wii sports boxing.

Some awesome games mostly junk. I have nothing at all against casual games and the people who are just casual gamers probably find them very fun. But the "casual games" being put out for the Wii are not what I would call games at all. Peggle qualifies as a game, Hannah Montana Spotlight Garbage or Ninjabread man are not games. I doubt even Hannah Montana fans will like that game. They're probably too busy watching the actual show than playing a bad video game about it.

The Wii isn't a bad system in itself, but its just not being marketed the right way. If Nintendo improved the motion sensor and put out a few more actual games, then it could be right up there with the PS3 and 360. In fact both the PS3 and 360 have ripped off the Wii, PS3 with the Six-axis motion sensor and Xbox with their avatars (compare one to a Mii, they are VERY similar).
I'm glad that Sega put out Madworld and House of the Dead: Overkill, proving that the Wii can be used as an actual games machine... now if we can get Nintendo itself to believe that then we will hopefully get 3rd party Wii remote attachments used for making certain types of games easier.

Actually the track record seems to be 2 Zelda games per console with the exception of the SNES.

Zelda and Zelda II on NES
Link's Awakening and the Oracle games (linked together so I count as 1) for GB/GBC
A Link to the Past on the SNES (here's the anomaly)
Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask on the N64
Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on the Gamecube.
Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks on the DS.
Now.. Twilight Princess is also a Wii Zelda, so we are probably going to get cheated and only get 1 more Zelda on the Wii.. but I hope they make 2 Wii exclusive Zeldas :>

Not sure about the Metroid series, though they are bringing the gamecube Primes to the Wii and I've heard rumors about a 2D Metroid for the DS a la Super Metroid style next on the table.

The Wii is the frisbee of the new generation... It will enetertain you for a good 5 secs then you get bored and play with a real console... long story short, the Wii is less of a gaming console and more of a cheap novelty!!!
