Masters, A Pokemon RP(CLOSED) Chapter 7: Out of the Woods.

"I think a fire is a good idea." Mark said pulling a Pokeball off his belt. "Alright Heracross come one out, and go get us some wood for a fire."
Heracross came out in the standard white flash of light. "Heracross!" It said happily jumping around.
"Is that a yes?"
Heracross bounced around some more then set off into the tree line, a few minutes later she came back with a load of surprisingly dry wood dropping it on the ground.
"So it was a yes, thanks, do you want to stay out longer or go back in." Mark said as he started to set up the wood for a fire.
"Heracross." It exclaimed tackling Mark in another hug.
"Alright alright you can stay out, Combusken would you kindly light the fire?" Mark asked as he took the other ball out and let Combusken out.
Combusken light the wood with an ember. "Combusken." Done.
"Thanks."

Sylas sat down with his back to a tree and fished a blanket out of his bag. In Cherrygrove he had bought it before they left, anticipating more camping with the group. His two pokemon still milled about outside, Baron sitting on the ground next to Sylas and Vandal walking about the outside of the stand.
"G'night, bud." Sylas said, tapping the drowsy cubone into his pokeball. He called Vandal over. The scyther looked at his over his shoulder, then turned around and started back. A small rustle was heard above them, and a spinarak dropped from a thread in front of Vandal. He backed away for a second, then swung his scythe into the spider pokemon. The thread snapped and the spinarak flew out of the clearing.
Vandal took a step towards it. "Don't do it." Sylas warned. The scyther turned back and stared at him for a second, then dashed into the bush after the spinarak.
"Shit..." he mumbled, getting up and sifting through his bag again. "If that spinarak is still going, Vandal's going to chase it. I've got to go get him."
He mumbled something about aggression, then finally retrieved his paintball mask and pulled it on, using the yellow tinted visor to contrast the dark forest. "I'll be right back. Don't wait up." He said, running off with his sword in one hand and Vandal's pokeball in the other.

I didn't know if I should finish this off or not, and it's kind of late now. If nobody posts a response by tomorrow morning I'll edit more in.
Aoife giggled slightly and began to unpack her sleeping bag. She didn?t have a tent but didn?t mind as long as she had the repel Magnus allowed her to use. With a warm smile, she finished laying out her sleeping bag and sat on it.

Duncan lay out underneath the stars, looking at the clear black sky. It was beautiful, entrancing how the stars could be so bright. He looked around to see the others retiring for the night, when Sylas bolted after his Scyther. He looked at Aoife, "Yes?"
"Well I'm planning to wait to see if Sylas returns. Can't have one person running around in the woods at night, even if he does have a sword. If he doesn't come back in ten minutes I'm going after him," he looked up at the stars again, "Plus I think tonight is a night that is almost to beautiful to sleep through, the stars and sky are gorgeous today."
"He'll be fine on his own..." Magnus said to Aoife. "I go out into the woods by myself all the time, when I'm hunting. Sy's got Baron in case he meets any aggressive Pokemon... Don't worry too much."
Magnus finished setting up his tent, and saw that it could fit two sleeping-bags easily.
"Hey, if anyone needs to buddy-up with me, I've got room in my tent." Magnus offered. "It'll be cold tonight, so I'm tossing it out there."
Magnus let out Quillz from her pokeball, and she laid down by the fire.
"Who wants to help me with dinner?" Magnus asked the group.

A short distance away, Sylas heard rustling. Turning towards the source of the disturbance he saw Vandal struggling with a netting of silk. The spinarak was nearby, but clearly in bad shape.
"Vandal. Just leave it, let's go." he said, approaching the scyther. He hissed and writhed, vainly trying to free his arms from the sticky silk. As Sylas got closer Vandal lashed out at him, trying to swing his scythes in any direction he could. Sylas kept out of range of his flailing limbs until he finally lost his balance and fell to the ground. The contortions continued for about a minute longer, before Vandal finally fell still panting heavily.
Sylas leaned in slowly and started to slice away the silk. Vandal stared into space, avoiding eye contact. "Why do you always do this?" he asked, exasperated. There was no response, as usual.

I...I don't want to talk. Vandal mumbled. He raised his arm and scratched the side of his head, effectively hiding his face from Quillz. I don't want...I don't need your help with anything.

"Here Magnus let me help you," Duncan stood up and went to help Magnus with the supper, just as Sylas came back. Duncan noticed how moody his Scyther was, You need to talk to that Pokemon, it's way too moody, even for a Scyther."
Look... Quillz continued trying to reason with Vandal. Something is obviously bothering you... It's going to keep bothering you if you don't let me try to help.
Magnus was setting up the range, and saw Quillz trying to talk to Vandal. He turned to Sylas, and asked him why.
"Sy... What's up with Vandal? Is he always like this?" Magnus asked.

So you need to get stronger? Quillz asked Vandal. She realized that Vandal was still a juvenile, not yet fully mature. She understood his wish, but not the reason why. If you need to get stronger... Battle me, and become stronger.
Magnus was half-listening to Quillz and Vandal. The Scyther wished to become stronger, and felt that he needed to do it on his own.
"Yeah, that's true. Scyther do normally travel in swarms." Magnus said, about to show off his Pokemon knowledge. "They usually have an Alpha-Scyther that is the leader of the swarm. Your either got separated, or cast out as a threat to the leader. Or maybe there was a change in leadership, and the Alpha-Male kicked out any males old enough to breed, to ensure his own offspring."
Magnus was half-listening to Quillz and Vandal. The Scyther wished to become stronger, and felt that he needed to do it on his own.

I'm not going to take your charity. I won't prove myself taking practice shots. Vandal said firmly. He knew the typhlosion was much stronger than him, and that fighting her wouldn't accomplish anything. He wouldn't win.
"I can understand why they might boot him for that." Sylas said. He looked back and noticed Vandal tensing again. "He's a fighter, so any leader would see him as a threat."

"Well... Sometimes these things take time." Magnus said to Sylas. "People and Pokemon alike can hold grudges and have deep-seated issues. Oftentimes, they don't get over their issues until they can obtain closure... Where did you say you found Vandal, again?"

"More like he found me." Sylas started, "I wasn't really interested in having my own pokemon for a long time. I was more preoccupied learning swordplay. Anyway, two years ago I was practicing outside of Lavendar and Vandal showed up. It must have been because I had the sword, because he challenged me.
"He looked like he was enraged, he just relentlessly pounded down my defense and struck fast enough not to leave any openings for me. I ended up backed into a corner, and then I tripped and fell on my back. He just stopped, like he only wanted to beat me."
Sylas skipped over the part where he sliced the tips of Vandals wings when his back was turned. It didn't seem too important to the story, and he was a little ashamed of it. There were still razor-thin lines across the scythers wings where they had grown back. "He just stayed with me after that. I would say it was respect, but. . . well, you see how well he listens to me."
