"As am I, it might make for some interesting battles too," Duncan said, his eyes looking over the tower, and catching the now glowing skies, "It's getting late though, I think maybe we should head back to the Pokemon center while there is still some light."

The group began to walk back to the Centre, though Duncan was still sure to take the long way. The cold didn't bother him all too much, and he wished to see the rest of the city. It was always so gorgeous at night, though loud since Falkner, the gym leader of the city let out his pokemon for the night and he did have alot of those annoying flying Pokemon. This was all just small thoughts as the group made it back to the Centre and checked in. It was time for sleep, tomorrow was another adventure.

The next morning, the group of Trainers woke up and prepared for the day. Once everyone had woken up, dressed, eaten, and had coffee, the group set out from the Pokemon Center. Outside, the weather was lovely, it was an unseasonably warm day, and much of the snow was melting into puddles and slush. Grass could be seen through holes in the ice.

"It looks like today is going to be a good day, don't you think guys?" Magnus asked his friends.

"That it does." Brandon said with a nod. I'll give it a couple of days before a storm hits. He thought to himself.

"Looks like it's going to be wet." Sylas said sourly, kicking a chunk of snow into a puddle. "But warm is a nice change, I suppose." he added. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the heat of the sun on his skin, drawing a deep breath.

That morning had gone a lot smoother between him and Vandal. He had even bought the pokemon a coffee, something that Vandal was eager to try after seeing Sylas order one. Now Vandal was slightly jittery as he stood next to Sylas, and his pupils were smaller than usual.

"Are you sure it's alright for Vandal to have had coffee? I'm not sure what kind of effect caffeine has on Bug-Types..." Magnus said to Sylas. "Oh well... Just make sure he doesn't try to decapitate anyone."

It's going to be fun to watch him crash off of that caffeine. Magnus thought, smiling.

The group stood in front of the tower, a pagoda-esque building of five stories, and looked up at it.

"Come on, let's go in." Magnus said, leading the group inside. They walked up to the front gates, and were let in by two monks.

"Welcome to Sprout Tower, young ones." A soft-spoken monk greeted them. "I take it by your appearance, you are Pokemon Trainers. If this is the case, then you have come to train in the tower. The upper stories are available for training both body and mind... Please enjoy yourselves."

Mark gave his input. "Yeah it's about time, I'm no fan of the cold. It should make Combusken happier too."

Sylas nodded to the monks before answering Magnus, "He seems to be having a typical reaction. Besides, if he tries to decapitate anyone it'll most likely be me. He's tried before, but I'm still not sure if he really meant to..."

"Alright, then. But if he does kill you, I get dibs on him." Magnus joked. "Come on, let's get some training done!"

Magnus walked up the first flight of stairs to the second floor, to go train with the monks.

"Come on! Don't stay down there all day!" Magnus said to his friends.

"We're coming." Brandon said as he climbed after Magnus. There was no way he was going to pass up a chance to train with the monks.

After a long day of training at the tower, everyone's Pokemon had become stronger, and were all eager for a long-awaited, and well-deserved rest.

"Great day, everyone." Magnus said. "Tomorrow, we put our training to the test at the Gym."

In the dark of night, by the pond in Violet City, an organizational meeting was being held. Men dressed in matching black suits with large letter R's on the shirts and caps were looking over an outline of a plan.

"Groups 1 and 2 will go through the front of the building." A man with narrow black eyes, and navy blue hair spiked back, said to his subordinates. "Group 3 will go in from the third floor, and Group 4 will handle the top floor. We clear out those monks as quickly as possible, kill a few to leave a message, and set up a perimeter. Groups 5 and 6 will establish the barriers, and the fences. Is this all understood?"

"Yes sir." The group leaders said in response. One of them spoke up. "Harry, where will you be?"

"I'll be leading Group 4, and personally be taking out that Elder on the top floor." Harry explained. "Now, you all have your orders. Go over your copies of the plan with your Groups, and report back to me in the morning."

"Yes sir!"

The next morning, the Trainers awoke refreshed and eager. They would be going up against the Trainers at the Gym, and hopefully be getting a badge from Falkner.

"Magnus... I wanna talk to you." Elena asked him.

"What's up?" Magnus asked her.

"Well... I've been thinkin' about what's gonna happen in the future. As much as I hate Team Rocket... I've got a hunch that followin' you won't be too good for business... If you get what I mean."

"I understand... Like I said, you're free to go when you please. I won't stop you."

"Good luck to you, boy." Elena said to him. "I got high-hopes for ya. You be sure to kick some ass."

"I will... It was good to meet you, Elena. Maybe we'll see each other again." Magnus said goodbye to her.

"We'll have to see. Who knows, maybe I'll give you a discount next time." Elena said with a wink. After she said her goodbyes to everyone, she left and headed West towards Ecruteak.

"Alright." Magnus said to the rest of the group. "Let's head to the Gym!"

"So who plans on trying for the badge?" Sylas asked. He didn't care much for the badges, but in this group he felt a strange need to prove himself further.

"That's what I set out to do, so that's what I'm going to to do." Mark said confidently.

"I'm not one to go for badges myself." Brandon said "Right now I'm perfectly happy just traveling with my pokemon."

"I'll have a go... Mostly just for the experience. I'm not much for badges, I only got four of them from Kanto." Magnus said to Sylas. "Besides, you'd be at a type-disadvantage against Falkner's Flying-types. All you've got are a Bug-Type, and a Ground-Type. Then again, type isn't everything."

Magnus heard Mark say that he wanted to try for a badge, as well.

"If that's the case, Mark. Then you're in trouble. Combusken is a Fighting-Type, weak against Flying-Type moves. With Heracross, you're in even more trouble because he's both Bug and Fighting... So it seems that you're a bit fucked."

"Oh." Mark said halfheartedly, then he took up a triumphant stance. "Looks like I'm just going to have to get really really lucky then, right."

"I'm thinking of going for the badge," Duncan said tossing one of his Pokeballs up in the air and catching it, "Houndour gained alot of strength from training against those Bellsprouts. The fact that she's fire type probably helped. I'm thinking that Falkner's birds won't be able to take the heat."

"Luck doesn't even begin to cover it, Mark." Magnus said as they approached the the Gym.

Magnus opened the doors to the Gym, and looked up above them. On the roof of the building was where Falkner's battlefield was, and there was where Magnus would defeat the Gym Leader of this city.

The group of Trainers took the elevator up to the upper level of the building. There were two Trainers, as well as Falkner there.

"So..." Falkner asked as the elevator stopped and opened. "You're here to challenge me? It's not going to be that easy. First you have to beat one of these guys in order to prove that you're worth the time of my beautiful and powerful Bird Pokemon. So who wants to go first?"

"Alright... I see we've got someone enthusiastic." Falkner said in response to Eric. One of the Bird Trainers stepped forward to battle Eric, and smirked.

"I'll go too..." Magnus volunteered. "Show me what you've got."

The second Bird Trainer stepped in front of Magnus. Eric and Magnus each followed their opponent to a small battlefield on either side of the room.

"Alright boys... Get it started!" Falkner said, whistling with his fingers.

Here is who Eric and I are fighting.
HootHoot(Male, 9)
Spearow(Male, 11)

Pidgey(Male, 10)
Pidgey(Female, 10)

"Garnet, go!" Magnus called out his Cyndaquil to battle. His opponent called out a Pidgey, which landed in front of its Trainer.

"Begin!" Falkner called out for the Battles to start.

"Garnet, use Smokescreen!" Magnus called out to her. She released a cloud of smoke that obscured the field.
