I suppose this is a good time to stop waiting for Fanklok.
Sylas made his way to the second floor of the tower, adrenaline pumping furiously through his blood. He rounded a corner next to Vandal and came face-to-face with a grunt.

Sylas flinched, and the Grunt called out a sneasel and bellsprout. "Sneasel, Screech." the grunt commanded. A high-pitched, grating noise filled the air. Sylas dropped to his knees, clutching his ears. Vandal winced, but leapt at the sneasel unleashing a Fury Cutter on it. The screech halted as the sneasel turned to the defensive.

"Wrap!" the grunt said to the bellsprout as Sylas was climbing to his feet. Long vines reached out and held Vandal to the ground, letting the sneasel recover and start to repeatedly scratch him. Sylas grabbed the sword from the ground and attacked the grunt, slicing deep into his outstretched arm. He swung twice more and the grunt fell to the ground, screaming in pain, then Sylas cut through the bellsprout's vines. The weak plant squealed and ran. The sneasel was next, taking several hits from Sylas before falling unconscious in a pool of blood.

Breathing heavily, Sylas turned back to see Vandal crawling out of the vines. "You did good." he said, patting the scyther on the back. The moved on along the hallway, leaving the grunt alive.

Eric nodded, as Calhoun filled the air ThunderShocks, bringing down a few Zubat. Rascal was harrasing several Bellsprout with his Quick Attacks.

I know, seriously short post. I'm just really tired right now.

Magnus opened the door, and saw them. The Elder monk of Sprout Tower was being held hostage by the commander of this mission.

"Let the old man go." Magnus commanded as he walked in.

"Heh. I was wondering when you'd show up, Magnus." The Rocket officer said. "You don't remember me, do you?"

"I can't say I do... All I see is another Rocket minion." Magnus responded.

"Back in Pewter City, I let you use my Key Card to get into Lucille's office." The Rocket officer explained. "My name is Harry... Third-tier officer. I know a lot about you, Magnus. Lucille and Kristoph have explained things to all of us Officers, on the chance that we encounter you. It seems you've got a new group of friends, this time. If they were smart, they'd up and leave you alone... It's dangerous to be an enemy of Team Rocket. Ya know?"

"Enough talk, Harry. Let's just get this over with so these people can get out of here safely." Magnus pulled out a pokeball.

"Ah... Alright. You've got it, kid. Go Ariados!" Harry called out a large Spider Pokemon, which spat a web behind Magnus... The Spider Web technique. "This is a fight to the finish."

"Garnet, use Ember!" Magnus called to the Cyndaquil. She peppered the Long Leg Pokemon with small flames, which did some significant damage.

"String Shot!" The Ariados shot a string of silk towards Garnet, who dodged out of the way, and ignited it with her flames. As the silk flew through the air, it hit the Spider Web, burning and destroying it.

"Garnet, return!" Magnus called back his Cyndaquil, now that he was able to. "Quillz, Flame Wheel!"

Quillz emerged from her pokeball as a spinning fireball, and mowed over the Ariados. Harry recalled his Pokemon, and sent out another.

"Arbok, use Crunch!" The large snakelike Pokemon moved quickly, and managed to latch onto Quillz' arm. She flinched as she was unable to move. "Now, Gunk Shot!"

From this close range, the attack was almost sure to hit, and it poisoned Quillz, in addition to the damage it dealt.

"Quillz, are you alright?" Quillz growled at the Arbok, and let Magnus know she would be fine. "Use Flamethrower!"

A brilliant stream of flame engulfed the Arbok, burning it, and knocking it unconscious.

"Electrode! Use Explosion!!" Harry hurled a pokeball towards Magnus and Quillz, who were against the wall. The Electrode emerged from its pokeball, charging, and exploded once it was close to Quillz. The blast was enough to knock away a part of the wall, and Magnus was nearly sent out of it.

"Eon... Hurry. Get everyone out of here now!" Magnus sent out his Vaporeon, who sped away down the stairs to warn the other Trainers to escape. Quillz was knocked out, and Magnus was done.

"I'll see you around, kid." Harry said, bidding his farewells. "Actually, if I'm lucky, I won't be seeing you. Weezing!"

Harry called out his Pokemon, a dark-blue Weezing, with three heads rather than two. Harry jumped out of the hole in the wall, and grabbed on to his Weezing, which carried him away.

Magnus lay on the ground for a moment. He had lost, and it felt as if he had been punched in the stomach from the Explosion. He called back Quillz, and nearly vomited from the pain.

Eon is going through the floors to get you all out. The Team Rocket members should be beginning to retreat, and your characters should do the same... Don't go after Magnus.

"Ha, looks like they're going." Brandon said as he watched the grunts run out of the floor to escape. His victory was short lived when he saw Eon run down the stairs. "Hey Eon where's Magnus?" He said heading for the staircase only to have Eon step in his way. "But..." Eon merely pushed him with his head. Brandon cast one last look up to the top floor and turned away. "C'mon Eric let's get outta here." He said running to the first floor.

Sylas glared at the grunt as he cowered in the corner, a golbat laying unconscious next to him. Vandal was face-down on the ground, knocked out after taking a Poison Fang. Baron stood fiercely next to Sylas, keeping a close watch on the grunt and the golbat.

"Get away from me." Sylas growled through clenched teeth. He held his katana in a white knuckle grip pointed at the grunt as he returned the golbat to its pokeball, then rushed away.

Sylas sighed and picked up Baron, letting him cling to his shoulder, then sheathed his sword and knelt next to Vandal. He sprayed the wound with antidote just to be sure it wouldn't cause any more damage then returned the scyther and stood up wearily.

"We have to keep going." he said to Baron, placing a hand on his head. He started down the hall again when the building shook, dropping dust from the ceiling.

"What the hell?" he mumbled, then thought it might have been one of his teammates caught in a fight. He started to run down the hall, then turned up a staircase. A pair of Rockets ran past, shoving him into the wall but not giving him second notice. Now more confused, Sylas continued nonetheless. As he opened the door onto the next floor, Eon showed up looking extremely distressed.

We need to leave!

"Where's Magnus?" Sylas asked, suddenly worried. Eon just squeezed his eyes shut and looked away.

Just leave, now. You have to. Eon said, then ran down the stairs. Sylas looked ahead with dread, torn between checking on Magnus and listening to Eon. He can't be dead...but why else would Eon be leaving? He wouldn't expect them to stay.

He took a step back heavily, then tore his gaze away from the hall and started running back down the tower.

Apologies gents/ladies? if I have not yet been written off I'll come up with some good reason for Mark to disclude himself from the group and possibly return at a later date if Mister Magnus would be so kind as to launch me a PM via Rock-It launcher to give me heads up on a good place do to so

Duncan was slowly petting his Pokemon, not wanting to believe what had happened around him. A man lay gasping as his throat bled out, trying to stem the flow with his hands. Duncan looked at him lazily, his eyes blanked. Houndour nuzzled his palm, trying to comfort her trainer. He was pale, his hands cold. Eon ran down the stairs and looked at Duncan yipping in its high pitched bark. Duncan ignored the Pokemon, until it began to tug on his shirt. He slapped it away, "I don't want to move right now..." he trailed off, "Where is Magnus," he struggled to his feet, "I'm going after him."

Duncan moved towards the stairs, but found his path blocked by Ponyta, "Move," he said, but she refused to move, as Eon continued to yip at Duncan and tug at the cuff of his shirt, pulling him towards the exit, "I can't leave him behind," Duncan muttered. All the violence had caused him to go into shock, he could comprehend what was going on around him. He continued to shake as Ponyta, slowly walked around and scooped him up, while Eon and Houndour ran down the stairs, Ponya slowly bringing Duncan with her.

Eric gave a worried glance at the up staircase before following Brandon.

"Magnus will be okay, he probably just ran in to some Rockets and he'll be right behind us."

Magnus stood up, regaining his composure, and walked over to the Elder. Magnus pulled out his knife, and untied the old man.

"Elder, we need to get you out of here." Magnus said. "I have a feeling something is about to happen. Something bad."

"Thank you, but no." The Elder said, standing up. "I think I'll stay here... This is where I belong."

"But-"

"I have devoted my life to this Tower, child." The Elder explained. "Just as a Captain stays with his ship until the end, so must the Elder stay in the Tower. I am an old man... Do not worry about me."

"Alright." Magnus said, realizing that the old man's resolve was greater than he could argue against. "I wish you great fortune in the next life."

The Elder sat down on the floor, and began to meditate. Eon rushed back up the stairs, and told Magnus that everyone was out and safe.

"Good boy, Eon. Return." Magnus returned Eon to his pokeball, and looked outside to see the others, along with the monks, on the ground.

"Good... They're safe."

*****

Harry floated away from the Tower, hanging on to his Weezing. He pulled out a Pokegear, and spoke into it.

"On my mark... NOW!"

*****

Magnus felt a rumbling beneath his feet, and then a roar and a crash. There were explosives detonated on all the levels. Magnus felt the floor weakening beneath his feet, and knew that he would be crushed unless he got out now. Magnus looked back at the Elder, who remained stoic, and made a run for the hole in the wall... it was his only chance.

"Garnet, use Extrasensory!" Magnus called out his Cyndaquil as he jumped. The red-colored Cyndaquil used her Psychic powers, and floated Magnus down towards the ground. Suddenly, he felt her focus slipping, the strain too much for her to keep them both aloft... If Magnus fell, he would die.

Just as Garnet's focus lapsed, and Magnus began to fall again, something moving at a great speed caught him in mid-air. Magnus looked up, and saw a large Pidgeot... Falkner's Pidgeot. The large Bird Pokemon flew Magnus towards the Gym, cradling him in its claws. Magnus returned Garnet to her pokeball, and looked towards the Tower. As he flew away, the Tower's frame fell around the might pillar that held it aloft until eventually, it to snapped, and fell into the lake.

The Pidgeot landed near Magnus' friends depositing him safely onto the ground, where he collapsed to his knees.

"This... Is this because of me?" Magnus asked himself, his voice shaking. "This... Is this my fault?"

Sylas watched in numb horror as the tower collapsed. Ancient wood and paper falling upon itself, then the giant stalk toppling over. That wasn't what scared him though; he hadn't gone back for Magnus. I left him, and I had plenty of time to get him out. I could have saved him.

He fell back onto his heels and sat down, burying his face in his arms. He breathed shakily as he tried to get his mind together. Baron crawled onto his shoulder again, and nuzzled Sylas' head with his nose. Even though it was bone, it was comforting.

A loud flapping alerted Sylas, and he look up. Falkner and his Pidgeot landed nearby. Sylas' breath caught as he saw Magnus set in front of them.

"Magnus!" he yelled, clumsily getting to his feet and running over. All his grief evaporated as he dropped to his knees next to Magnus and wrapped his arms around him.

"I thought you were dead, because. . . I left you behind. What happened?"

"I lost..." Magnus muttered in response to Sylas' question. "I lost, and I failed... Team Rocket, I don't know what they wanted with this. Whether they did to get me, or... I don't know. All I know is that I failed."

Magnus shuddered under the weight of the realization. Not only did he fail, but a cultural landmark was destroyed, and lives lost. Was it his fault that all this happened? Did Team Rocket do this to draw him in an attempt to kill him?

"Somehow... This is my fault." Magnus repeated, not feeling Sylas' arm around him.

"Team Rocket did this, it's not your fault." Sylas assured him. He knew a bit of Magnus' history with the Rockets, but he didn't know well enough to believe that they had set up this whole thing just to get back at him.

"We went in to stop them, even if we failed we still tried. But we didn't cause this. You didn't."

"You're right, Sy..." Magnus told himself. "But the offer from before still stands. If any of you want to leave... Please go. I don't want to endanger you anymore."

"I... I'm going to leave." Aoife said softly. "I'm sorry... But this is too much for me, just too dangerous."

"Me too, Magnus." Mark said. "It's been real, but this is serious... I don't want to die, man."

"Good luck to both of you, then." Magnus wished them well. "Anyone else?"

"I'm not leaving after seeing this." Sylas said quietly, but firmly. "I staying with you until there isn't a single person left wearing an R on their chest. They can't be allowed to keep doing things like this."

Duncan was still sitting on the ground, Ponyta's nose brushing against his hands and Houdour laying beside him, keeping him warm in the cold weather. He looked at what remained of the tower and closed his eyes. He kept seeing the death around him, the pointless slaughter that had been conceived in the tower.

Finally his eyes cleared and he stood up and walked up to Magnus, "I will not so readily abandon you, this fight is necessary and we must keep going. Till the Rockets or we are done that is the cost of this fight."

"Thank you, guys..." Magnus said. "Let's... Let's get back to the Pokemon Center. I'm beat, and my Pokemon are exhausted... Quillz is out cold, even."

Magnus went over and patted Falkner's Pidgeot on the beak.

"I'm just disappointed I didn't get to finish my battle with you... Maybe later." The group walked back to the Pokemon Center. Everyone in town was frantic, the Tower had stood for centuries, the great pillar holding it firm.

The legend says that the pillar was actually the body of a 100-foot-tall Bellsprout. Magnus thought to himself, as he handed his wounded Pokemon to the Nurse. But even a 100-foot Bellsprout is weak against Fire when there's enough of it.

Magnus plopped himself down on the sofa in the lobby of the Pokemon Center. The television was turned to the news, a live feed being run. Every ten minutes or so, they would show the footage of the Tower falling, caught on amateur video. Magnus sulked quietly.
