Ah! **hugs** Anime lately has been so blah. The stuff from the late 80s and 90s is my favorite!

On the other hand, I like my mildly trendy clothes. Well, sort of. I really like certain styles, and when those styles are in, I buy a lot of clothes. When I don't like the styles that are in, I wear the older styles and look mildly outdated. Then something I like comes back and I buy some more. I tend to like sleek and form-fitting, so even when I'm not in style, I still look pretty good.

... that said, I wear sweats around the house. I mean, they're just comfy! ^^
Well, actually I meant a Sweater and a Pair of Pants combo.
Like cargoes or just normal pants. Never denim.
Still, though, I sometimes like to play dark gray sweatsuit ninja....
At my age...
Oh and I really like 90's OAV.
That was the golden age of the OAV, back when Gainax was doing great stuff and anyone who could animate well enough could have their own series.
I also like junky Anime like 8 man After or MAD BULL 34.
What mom really gets concerned about is my Travis Touchdown level wrestling fandom...
I can't help it, I just happened to stumble on some really good stuff...all the time. D:

I just wear whatever I've got in my cupboard, which consists of some jeans and shirts. Although most of the shirts in my cupboard are/can be slightly offensive to some people.

high five, this shirt is awesome

the funniest part about this for me is that your mum is trying to convince you to be hip. i thought it was supposed to be the other way around. i dunno, you cant really go wrong with jeans+tshirt!

Nobody I like cares about what I wear or they at least don't mention it, part from oen time someone commented on the fact that I wear the same red hoody and jeans all the time. Coincidentally my mum made me go clothes shopping, which I hate, and bought me a black pair. That shut that bastard up.

Anyway, I usually just grab whatever happens to be on top of my pile of clothes in the wardrobe when I get dressed and occasionally I grab from the bottom to mix things up. I don't care about fashion because it's expensive and I can't tell what's fashionable or not anyway. If you look good in something you sould wea it whether it's in fashion or not.

This was my parents every single day until I moved out. They would constantly scream at me about what kind of clothes I wore, my hair, my music tastes, me playing video games, EVERYTHING. It was ridiculous.

meh I definately dont dress "hip"- smart black leather shoes, business coats and shirts and jeans with permastubble and short hair. If I had the money for posh suits Id wear one all the time.

Well mothers are annoying cunts sometimes, thats somehow their job.
Just ignore it and do your thing. They learn to deal with it sooner or later.
My mother was freaking shocked when i dyed half of my hair red or later when i shaved a mohawk. But only weeks after she assisted me in re-dying and shaving the back of my head. She doesnt even think of getting me clothes that arent either printless black or pinstriped. Yes me educating her was finally successful.

I don't know, I was never one to pay attention to the 'latest fashion' or being 'hip,' whatever that means. I wear pretty much only athletic clothing, which I think is a better statement anyway. My wardrobe is composed of track pants, synthetic shirts, loose shorts, and track jackets. I find it to be very comfortable, lightweight, and rather neutral. I also can't stand wearing jeans or anything like that anymore. I think it's because I've gotten so used to wearing track pants.
As for being 'hip,' not much of what I do/like would be considered 'hip.' Although, I have converted many people to techno, and dubstep is gaining popularity in my school. I also play tennis almost religiously, but it's not as big here in MN as football, hockey, or basketball. It's probably even behind soccer and lacrosse.

But hey, fuck it, it's all good. People who hang around me have an odd tendency of changing to my interests, while I rarely change mine. I guess people just think I'm awesome :D

Dude. My mum said basically the same thing to me last week.

Actually she said I had to "have more sex with loose women".

WTF kind of thing to say is that to your son?

Your not the only one (I have this problem with my family as well). To me I Always will and forever be myself unless I want to change my look. Quite frankly I don't give a danm what other people think of me, I being honest by looking how I normally look.
