I'll say Seinfeld ended right. It didn't overstay its welcome and the finale was genius. I still don't understand why so many people hated it.

Azumanga-Daioh.

After all, all the characters...you sorta grow attached to 'em. And the final episode is definitely an episode that is like saying "Goodbye" as you watch them all move on to the next stage in their lives.

The Shield. That show just got better from season to season, and the last episode was no different. Shame I know like no one else who's ever seen it.

The 9th season of Scrubs is not Scrubs. However, it was still really good and I don't see what people have against it. I would happily watch at least a few more seasons of Lucy, Cole, Drew and Denise. They are awesome characters.
Yeah, I really liked Scrubs Med School, too. Every time I see Dave Franco show up in anything, I laugh. There was a show on showtime that no one but me seemed to watch called Brotherhood. It was about a mobster and his politician brother in Rhode Island. Jason Isaacs played the criminal and he was amazingly scary. It was canceled after only three seasons, but it wrapped up really nicely.
For sure, he's awesome. By the way, if you liked Denise too, she's in a new show called Happy Endings. It's only 5 episodes in, but I'm honestly blown away by it. I'll reserve judgement until it's a few seasons in, but it has the makings of being the best comedy I've ever seen.

Fooly Cooly. God, I can name so many things that show did right, but one thing I can say that it does right, that ascends it more than any other anime, is that it wasn't a kajillion episodes long. Fuck Bleach. Fuck Naruto. Fuck One Piece. Fuck Reborn. Fucking fuck Dragon Ball Z. It gives a greater, more mature telling of a boy's rite of passage than all of those shows put together, and it did it in six episodes. It was a triumph for Gainax.

If it extended past that, if it kept going only because a manga artist/anime director felt that extending a story with no regard to the quality of the finished product to keep making money, like the former, it would become nothing. But instead, it stayed limited to six episodes. And it became something more.
Thats just your opinion. I thought Fooly Cooly sucked hard, more than those other show that you mentioned. but that my opinion.

Inspector [sub]fucking[/sub] Morse!

Amazing ending to an amazing series. I couldn't imagine a more perfect way to end it.

Yes it sucked that he died but it's still perfect and a 'fuck you' to everyone who says otherwise!

You're not that alone. It was one of the first that came to my mind.

On anime, I can't decide if I only like anime where people actually die, or if I just like anime shows that know how to end a show and when to end a show. Both explain why shows like Bleach just grate on me, and why I really enjoy Bebop and Death Note. On a side note, I sometimes feel really awkward that I like when stories end when a lot of characters die. Am I messed up, or are people just that bad at providing some decent closure in a story where people don't die? I'm not sure.

Ashes to Ashes.
Pub anyone?
That ending was pretty emotional granted. Mind you I still don't like how they did it. I mean in Life on Mars it was pretty clear that Sam was in a medical coma, seem as he actually wakes up (however briefly) in the last episode. But for season 3 of Ashes to Ashes the writers said "Fuck That! From now on this is purgatory and we're going to have a battle between the Devil and Gene Hunt playing a quasi St Peter role and everyone's going to ascend to heaven at the end" I reckon that was a bit OTT.

Edit: Oh and they thought the plot point "Everyone else has died just like Alex but they've all developed amnesia for some reason so can't remember" could just slip by unnoticed did they? I know I'm nitpicking but the only reason it stands out is because they'd already ended Life on Mars so perfectly you'd expect them to do at least as good a job with Ashes to Ashes.

Friends. One of the greatest sitcoms, allowed to end on its own terms. Perfect.
Indeed. That was a great show, and the ending was so bittersweet. I was sad to see it go, but 10 seasons was plenty. A lot of shows run out of steam long before that.

OT: I know The Office isn't technically over, but it's the end of an era. The era of Michael Scott. I know a lot of people probably didn't like Michael's last episode, but I loved it. The comedy level wasn't that high, but to me, the episode wasn't about that. Usually I always want a Jim-Dwight prank every week, as I've noticed less of them since the early seasons, but this week, I was just happy with Michael's attempts at saying goodbye. Especially Dwight and Jim's goodbyes. And the way they referenced how it was supposed to be a documentary ("Tell me if this ever airs", taking off the microphone) was great.

I'm gonna miss you Michael Scott...

On a related note, did anyone notice that the part where Michael takes off the "World's Best Boss" mug and puts a Dundie on his desk looks exactly like the part of the Intro song where he does that just before the title card?

I've seen parts of an episode of that show. I liked it, and Keith Apicary was on it! (He's an annoying video game stereotype character that does Borat style pranks at conventions.)

Arrested Development and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Loved both of those shows throughout their entire runs. They both kept getting better.

Oh, to all those saying Life on Mars as well.

That's not the original ending.

The original ending was exactly what it would have been:

Babylon 5 & Black Adder both had excellent endings. On the other hand, I greatly disliked the endings to Star Trek: Voyager and Stargate Atlantis.

Has anyone said the Wire yet? I would assume so, but I just want to add my thumbs up to it. Although Marlo, who could be seen as more ruthless and underhand than the other crime lords, has been taken down, we are shown that none of the major problems that plague cities like Baltimore have easy answers that can be shown to us through the medium of television. However, we are left well aware of what awaits the large cast of characters following the end of the show. Just like every episode of every series of that show, the ending is perfect.
