Why do girls not like my shiny and impenetrable suit of plate mail? I'm a provider, a lover, I don't leave my chain-gun on the mantlepiece, I hang it over my bed-pod next to the severed heads of my foes. Tell me my accredited chum, am I too forward? Should I not bathe her house in the blood of a vanquished nation? Why can't I bring myself to risk friendships? Should I spare the white rhino it's life as a species instead of crafting a mighty horned chariot to show up at her house in?

I'm so confused.
so your that guy she left me for :O she always liked blood :-(
We're sorry Billy Bob.

One word. Wingman.

When girls are roaming in packs, they are like the phalanx defense in "300". Each girl contributing to the whole. When a guy comes in to pick one out, the rest are there to shut him out. But that is where your wingman comes in handy.

Your wingman needs to be extraverted. He needs to be able to go in, and make a splash in the group. Whether it's offering to buy a round or able to garner attention long enough for you to swing in and talk to the girl you're after. Packs spend their time either grouped on the dance floor, or looking out for each other. These packs are impressive because they sometimes seem eerily aware of their surroundings. The wingman's SOLE purpose is to divert this awareness away from their surroundings, and place it squarely on himself. Everyone has that friend who likes nothing better then to make an ass out of himself. He's usually your ideal candidate.

Understand, this advice isn't for people who can't start an "approach" (which is what I was trying to describe to the very first person who came to this thread).
Dude, you hit the nail so hard on the head here i think you snapped the wood in half.
I dont really have any advice to ask, just letting you know how much i approve of this thread.

So what do you do when this happens? (I've had it happen to me before, some college girls being what they are these days)

How do you progress no strings attached sex into a meaningful relationship?

(I've obviously tried telling the girl I fell in love with her and all that but it didnt work)

Do you help with the other way around? A girl looking for a guy?
I've helped a few girls out along the way, but I'll be the first to admit, girls have different problems altogether. Depending on what you're looking for, I can at least help point you in the right direction.
Keep in mind that, with two little words, you can stop a girl from listening to you forever, usually as well as meriting a slap. When giving advice to girls, the answer is very rarely (okay, never) 'put out'. XD

I do have a lot of shyness issues though...
I could not tell...

Um for me, I have a pretty big problem with shyness. It's like clinical shyness, by which I mean... Asperger's Syndrome.

It's like if I even think of thinking about talking to woman, I'm like "I'll say something and she'll say something and I'll mishear it and I'll RUIN THE MOMENT WITH SOMETHING STUPID", you know?

My own mind is my biggest enemy...

lol, while that would be a near sure fire way to get a guy interested, I would never, ever recommend that to any girl.

It is strange isn't it? That is why I get so damn frustrated. Or I'm looney. I design clothes and watch (and squee over) chick flicks yet I play CoD4 until the early hours of the morning and my favourite movie is the Empire Strikes Back. Ok yeah I'm nuts.
I wonder: how do you dress/look? Not that this is an awfull attempt to flirt (*packs his bags to move to Australia* What? No I'm not planning anything, why do you ask?), but if you want a guy with similair geek interests but you don't express being such a girl yourself it's going to be really hard to attract such boys. If you don't do it already, maybe you should wear a Star Wars t-shirt or something similair when you go out. It would let geek guys know "Heej guys, I'm in your zone." and makes a great conversation starter for them. Most of the time us geek guys are pretty shy in public about our geeky interests, the geek girls have to help us a little. Girls like you are a rare breed, make sure you stand out, us geek boys would appreciate it.

Thanks for the explanation, I guess it makes sense and I should indeed explain to her that she's wearing me out. Not via MSN though, I definatly learned that lesson.

This happens when you're nervous. You're building up expectations of yourself that you can't possibly fulfill. I recommend reading my first response to the first question I was asked. It's a long one, but that advice MIGHT help you with your problem, despite your Asperger's.

Ok, this has been going pretty well. Better than I expected, even. But threads don't last forever. I'll edit this on my first post as well, but chances are, in a day or less, this thread will disappear into the void. If any one wants to continue, or just needs someone to listen, or you have more questions, feel free to PM me. I'll respond to anyone as quickly as possible.

Oh I've tried that. Oh the times I have tried! I've worn my Star Wars shirt out HEAPS of times. I've had Star Wars badges on my bags. (OT: I really want to make a Star Wars ball gown in I can find the fabric. That'd be so frelling awesome) But yes. I just don't think I'm in the right place to look for a geek. *sigh*

I'm struggling not to point and laugh. Six words: "Can I buy you a drink/coffee." Intention made clear. Done.

I was shy. Then I decided to throw myself into situation anyway. Bang, problem solved. No gurus necessary.

I don't think you're worthy to have Superman as your avatar buddy, self-help gurus are for chumps.
It's great that you've been able to break out of your shyness, but not everyone can think as proactively as you. No one said you had to believe anything I said. Some people need some help gaining perspective, and that what I'm trying to help with. If you're gonna be an ass, and troll, then do it on someone else's thread.
I think people that come onto a games forum to give tips on picking up girls needs an ego trip.

I think if you would have read my first post, you'll know I've made quite clear as to why I've started this thread. This isn't my first venture into this territory. I didn't come onto this forum to do this, this is a byproduct of all the other romance forums I've contributed to. Think what you will. I knew when I posted this that some people were going to question me. I'm allowing people to judge me by the merit of my advice. You've voiced your opinion, so please, move on.

Wow, now I'm officially amazed, and obviously I feel bad for your. The only choice left is buying a megaphone, going to the townsquare and well, the rest speaks for itself.
As for the gown, I'm sure some metal pots and-- damn you Helnurath, you ninja!

This is a tough one. You've already set up some boundaries at the beginning of your "relationship", and chances are, at least one of the people in these kinds of relationship really enjoy the freedom that it gives them.

No matter what course you take, you're in for some bumpy road. My advice on this would be to set up a "test date". Tell her you're interested in seeing if what you two have has potential to grow beyond the mere physical. Tell her it's just to test the waters, and if it doesn't work, then there is no harm in resuming the relationship the way it is. Worse case scenario, she doesn't want to go through with it, and you'll see how receptive she is to the idea. If she accepts, then you've taken your first step in broadening your relationship. Don't push it though, and be lighthearted about it. If you're insistent, then you just end up pushing her away.

I need a big neon sign that says, "Beautiful geek wanting nerdy love" with the Han/Leia theme song playing in the background while I wear the slave outfit. I think that is the only way to do it.

Okay, I'll do this, but only because this is the internet and no one knows me, and a certain friend never logs on.
Here it goes, I know this girl that I really like. We started sitting together at lunch ( actually she came and sat with me ) and we would talk the entire lunch period. But, I never had the courage to ask her out. She is also friends with my best friend, but as a friend only. There is another guy that is after her, but me and a couple of other guys think he is not serious, since he is often after several girls at once.
There is a county fair ( I wonder you brits and australians have that kind of stuff. ) at the end of the month, and I am thinking of trying to get together then.
So my question is this: how is the best way to go about it ( never dated before ) in a way that doesn't spell doom if I fail. I'm afraid if I don't show any signs of wanting to date, I will fall into the trap of her liking me as a friend, and that's it.
