New Duke Nukem Footage Surfaces, Blows Stuff Up

I hope that the theory that the first level is really Duke just playing the end of an old (but new) Duke Nuke'em, allowing the gameplay to evolve a little bit more so that it does not quickly become a stale and overtly generic FPS.
Although I never played any of the older Dukes, I now have high hopes for this one: Maybe, just maybe this could be sort of, kinda, possiblylike an FPS Conker's Bad Fur Day. The voice acting for Duke was pretty awful though, like a sound bite from a 90's game drenched in liquid-stupid. [footnote]Unless that completely misses the point of Duke Nukem, but they seem rather similar and there is no doubt that Conker was brilliant! By the way MS/Rare, where is my next Conker?!??!? Bloody waste of Rare...[/footnote]

Why'd he have to hold X in to pick up a weapon? There better not be a two weapon limit, I like my infinite inventory damn it.

Really hope this is good enough to bring these kinds of shooters like Serious Sam and Painkiller back into the fps market that threw realism out the window for some macho men killing macho monsters with macho weapons. Sadly im still skeptical, Duke Nukem came out when i was young enough to not really be into video games so my nostalgia of it is a year or two short of a lot of people. However from the video they showed, it definitly looks awesome, i hope there's finishing moves like that on all the bosses.

Never really played any of the older Duke games, so I'm not particularly invested in the history of the franchise or whatnot... but that just looked like good, dumb fun. Looking forward to it, to be honest. Curious to see how Gearbox manages to finish the game.

They were using a console controller, what did you expect? If penises are what someone might crave, then a mouse and a PC are the way to go.Traigus said:
In all seriousness, I think all Gearbox is doing is bracing for the eventual delay that will happen, either that or they are looking at a hefty wait between today and the title's eventual release and want to keep pimping the game up to remind people that they're serious and confident about finishing it.
The game seems playable but that doesn't mean everything is near completion. Also, a bit of a controlled, preemptive PR has never hurt a product that merited it. But to me it just looks like everyone is just happy that the game really seems like it's coming out for sure.
I'm pretty sure someone will make a movie out of this whole thing and call it FOREVER. Mark my words.
