Fucking goddamn it... I want to watch LulzSec burn. You don't cause this kind of mayhem without leaving a trace. The only good that will come out of this chain of events is that corporate and federal cybercrime prevention will be strengthened.

It's for the lulz. Duh. C'mon bro, get with the internet times!

All kidding aside, it's total bullshit and they need to be beaten with baseball bats.

I don't see the problem here. I wasn't going to pre-order Skyrim yet anyway xD
And I've seen Yahtzee's review of Brink.
With that said, Lulzsec probably do need to be taken down a step or 2 before it gets too far.

I kind of doubt it. LulzSec hacked Infragard's Atlanta chapter.

Background: Infragard Atlanta does federal cyber security for the US and is closely affiliated with the FBI.

More background: A month before they were hacked, Infragard created the 'Infragard Atlanta Alliance' specifically to help prevent hacking attempts. So it's basically a giant 'Well, FUCK.' since LulzSec hacked them anyway.

tl;dr, Cyber security is an oxymoron.

The problem is some escapist members have accounts at bethesda. I felt it would be a good idea to let them know ASAP that the information on those accounts may be compromised and to change passwords asap until everyone knows exactly what was compromised. better to be safe than sorry even if nothing was lost.

this is why cloud computing will prevail in the end, if your server holds all your files they can just scan it for viruses and illicit programs and bingo your thrown off the grid

problem is someone will hack it from outside the system.. but it's still harder

They are on the IRC now if you want to give them a piece of your mind. If you do that then i suggest you VPN tunnel and proxy and hope they dont decide to hack you. and you can yell at the feds for not stopping them at the same time. for the lulz

IRC info is on the twitter.
How does feeding them help in any way?

LolzSec have just lost all credibility in my eyes now.The big problem is no one is really going after them as if they try to hack a target and fail they most likely do not bring it up and i doubt compaines will notice comparing it to all the rogue programs and other hackers moving around the internet they have to deal with everyday.

So they can not really lose unless someone hacked them back
When did they have have credibility in your eyes? Also, I doubt they really care about what you think.
If they didn't care what people thought of them

They wouldn't have announced anything.

Or perhaps they announced it to coordinate their movements?
They aren't Anonymous, the members of LulzSec know each other (Though probably in a Reservoir Dogs way) and coordinate privately, hence why you don't see any actual details of attacking beforehand publicly.

This is probably because Bethesda has allegedly "betrayed" the hardcore PC community and now LuLzSec wants to do some damage.

My thoughts on LuLzSec...

Waaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!! - LuLzSec
so they're just hardcore pc elitists who have inferiority issues?

should i be looking at EVERY pc gamer as a potential threat from now on?
You never know, they could be. In all honesty, It's the only thing I can think of as to why anyone would be angry at Bethesda. And no, their is no use in becoming suspicious of all pc elitists. I'm just stating a possible motive.

However, it's possible that they're doing this for attention.

Everyone who cares about this is helping their cause. 'nuff said.
(seriously, they're just attention whoring. Not caring is the only option)

You want to know the best part?
They're not going to stop until people stop giving a shit. They're doing this for attention, and by making a thread for every time they fart, you're giving it to them. Keep complaining; your resistance only makes their penises harder.

Lets see...

1. Bethesda is a game company.
2. Escapist is a games forum.
3. Escapist members may have an acount at Bethesda with personal information.
4. Lulzsec hacks websites.
5. Lulzsec takes personal information from the websites they hack and make it public.
6. Lulzsec hacked bethesda.
7. Reread 3.

So dont care? seriously??

*edit

So put on blinders and the problem goes away. That is always considered bad advice. Possibility 1: ignore them and they just go underground and start hacking for profit.
possibility 2: give them attention and they do bigger and more outlandish hacks until they make a huge mistake.

possibility 2 you know when they just hacked something you have an account on and know you need to fix your shit asap. they get caught faster because they will fuckup and theres more preasure on them to get caught.

or

Possibility 1 one day you just discovered you bought a whole bunch of electronics and a sweet BBQ in a country you never lived in.

They're not trying to prove anything, they're just doing it for the lulz. This isn't Anonymous.
Oh okay then that makes it all better. Don't worry ima just rob a bank, take all the money, perhaps shoot a couple of people in their feet, burn part of it down. But I won't take the money instead ill just draw little smiley faces on them and then leave while smiling and shooting some more people in the feet. Oh what's that? This will have serious consequences? But I'm doing it for the lulz so its fine! What you mean that added security measures with a huge part of the economy having the chance of being massively crippled and will have to go under more pressure than it already is from the media and such? Oh well we're doing for the lulz. Ha Ha Ha. Aren't I so witty?

These utter prats need to grow the hell up and realise that what their doing has consequences whether its for the lulz or because they're all dying of brain poisoning but that it has consequences for a hell of a lot of people.

(My apologies for the guy I quoted.. I kinda just ranted at him for something which may not of been his view)
I don't agree with Lulzsec, I hate them. I was just answering his question. Good post though, totally agree.
