Agreed. As soon as the french realise you're australian and not american (and if you at least try to learn french), they suddenly speak perfect english and will answer any of your questions.Emeli said:I'm Australian, so colour me French, those guys can't get enough of us. I found them incredibly polite, but they're serious sticklers on people at least trying to learn the language is you go to France. If you go in there without knowing what to say, please to be prepared for rudeness.
Hehehe , that's funny, and that's coming from a Quebecerfix-the-spade said:Canada
Canadians complain about Canada, that's just because they haven't experienced the rest of the world. Even Quebec is creepily well mannered compared to the rest of the planet, although they take their 'Frenchness' a little too far, even the French aren't quite that French.
Well there's the problem, servers here make about 10-15 dollars an hour depending on the restaurant, PLUS their tip. Currently in Ontario the minimum wage is $9.50, so it's literally illegal to pay someone less than that. So I really don't need to tip that much. Waiters at high scale restaurants here actually make a killing.Sigel said:15% is a breakfast and/or lunch tip. If you receive good service for dinner, you should be tipping 18-20%. In the US, servers make between 2.13 to 3.50 on hour depending on the state and genre of restaurant so every little bit counts.AC10 said:I'm Canadian and I always tip the accepted 15%Avaholic03 said:Canada is nice...except when they tip. Or maybe Jamaica.
Maybe you didn't, but I learned plenty that has been useful.TaborMallory said:I've always imagined Canada and Australia as nice countries, but then again, I'm an ignorant American who knows nil about the world.
Damn our education system, we never learn anything useful.
Dur, dur, dur. Look at me being trendy saying my country is the worst place in the world. Cause thats popular now. I sure wish I could live in a magical land of happiness like Darfur.dsau said:Ireland, New Zeland, Australia are top 3

Yeah Italy is a lovely placeJimmyBassatti said:I hear South Africa has nice beaches ^_^poncho14 said:Hmmm I would say some where in Africa, in those clips you see everyone is all dancing and happy and playing. Although the poor countries that are cursed with famine and disease I think that kinda make you not want to go to those places, maybe South Africa is as nice as the rest or somewhere around that area.I'd like to go to Italy, and England, but I'd get killed in England :OWadders said:On the the only 2 occasions I've been to Italy, everyone seemed really friendly and happy. Well, everone who I came into contact with did anyway. Apart from this one yob who yelled at us, but he was probably just bitter that he'd lived his whole life up in a small town in the hills. One waiter in Rome was so cheerful he even ruffled my dads (thinning) hair and joked with usThe Infamous Scamola said:Italy. Nuff said.
So yeah, I agree. But then I'm used to grumpy Welshmen, snooty Southerners and general British-ness, so whenever I go abroad the natives seem nice...
Meh. I went to Florence and Elba, and most people were unfriendly. Rome was friendlier though, I'll give you that. The Infamous Scamola said:Italy. Nuff said.
At no point did that person say that England=UK....Joshimodo said:England=/=UK.Kiutu said:Probably Switserland or something like that. Not England or the U.S. though, definatly.
I'd say Sweden or the Netherlands. Barely ever spoken to anyone from those two places that I could call even remotely asshole-y.
What the funk? Jamaica is a horrible country!AC10 said:Canada!

Are we not? I must have missed a meeting or something...JimmyBassatti said:You aren't too fond of Americans...
Actually, there are exceptions to minimum wage in Ontario, and servers are one of them. They can legally be paid below minimum wage because they expect the server to make money off tips to counter the lower wages.AC10 said:Well there's the problem, servers here make about 10-15 dollars an hour depending on the restaurant, PLUS their tip.
