Consoletard here. I've gamed on PC's. Hell, I've got some games on my laptop right now. Dead Space and RE5 (I also have Age 3 but I don't play that much). I can say this: aiming with a mouse in RE5 is...shaky and unsatisfying (I know, it's supposed to be, but still). My pinky hurts a while after holding shift to run (I can bind it to another key, I know, but...nowhere else feels right) and switching between weapons is a bit of a chore (using the QWERTY number keys). Playing it with my USB 360 controller though, feels fan-fucking-tastic. The game also looks a bit nicer on the PC, but really, the differences are kinda...hard to notice. Dead Space on the other hand, hooboy. Thank god for keyboards. It's not Flight Simulator, but I've got alot to manage and the abundance of keys is quite nice. I tried it on my 360 controller and it was VERY unfriendly. Everything was very context sensitive and I disliked that.
So where am I going with this? I boil the PC/Console War to playability. Complexity? Depth? Fuck that man. Console games and PC games alike can be shallower than a spoon or deeper than Rapture. Consoles are going to be limited by their hardware and interface, but so are PC games. How? TOO MANY FUCKING BUTTONS. Seriously, if "depth" means a control scheme that needs a computer manual to explain, it's too complex for me and I'm sure for much of the general public. Some people may like that. I guess those are the elitists. And some normal PC gamers too I suppose. Really it's all playability for me. Age 3 works fine on a PC. It'll be shit on a console because the control doesn't transfer. FPS's on either platform come down to a matter of taste. I prefer my trusty controller, others swear by mouse and key.
Get off your high horses elitists, I say. You're just as greedily suckling at the teat of the gaming biz as the consoletard; you don't need to look like a douche bag when you do it.
