I only get annoyed by them when they say "Go play your stupid, dumbed-down, idiotic console while I enjoy my nice, PC for real gamers".

I play on a console for a couple reasons:

1. I like controllers better than keyboards (my opinion).
2. Cheaper
3. One console can play all games made for it. No worrying about system requirements.
The system requirements are alot more complicated than the: xbox 360: works, xbox classic: works...maybe but propably not. (why kotor! why!), System requirements that sometimes arent accurate drove me to consoles in the ps2 era :)
Though The pc is alot better with using controllers. It supports alot of controllers only available for the pc and the 360 wireless controller and the wiimote...if thats your thing. :D
I use a Logitech Ps2ish controller on my pc with the best joysticks my hands ever where allowed to touch or a 360 controller when i feel like i want a wireless one.

considering most people who post on facebook and such use a pc
i would consider it a more all around useful object as opposed to a one trick pony as the console is

We're like the Gooks in 'Nam, man, they don't stand a chance, they don't have the tools man, we have camouflage. We're never seeeeen, maaaan. Like this text here, man. Never seen.
Never assume that people don't happen to highlight all text that they read intermittently. Interesting quirk of mine.

Another thing to not assume - that the Escapist white text is the same colour as the post background.

uh, yeah go to the gamespot forums and then come back and talk to me. console fans are just as bad, unfortunately nobody talks about them.

seriously, why is it that people only talk about the rampant elitism when it comes to the pc when its equally prevalent with the consoles as well?

So I'm browsing Facebook and I discover a group entitled "Consoles Suck".

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=114331846058&ref=nf

I begin to read the group description and realize just why some people hate PC gaming or at least PC gamers. I'm a PC gamer at heart (even though I do own consoles). PC games to me are much more complex and satisfying than others on a console. This, however, just makes me ashamed of who I am. Any thoughts?
"Consoles SuckCategory:Internet & Technology - GamingDescription:
Consoles (PS3, XBOX360, WII, etc) are made for noobs. It is for stupid retards who can't realize the beauty of enjoying games with complexity, depth and hardcore skilled gameplay. Playing FPS or RTS on console with a controller is retarded.

Next gen my ass. Say hello to Core i7, GTX300 and HD5000. Beat me with my G9 3200 DPI hardware accuracy or lick my feet. I would enjoy fragging the thumb controller noobs.

PC gamers eat console noobs for breakfast. In our world of PC gaming, you console noobs are...insignificant. Period."

This is just a little blurb. It doesn't qualify a big word like "elitist."

I have to disagree. I've seen an almighy amount of bitching going on between PS3 and 360 fanboys. Whiny pathetic idiots will be whiny pathetic idiots, regardless of their gaming platform of choice.
No, it's worse on PC. PC elitists who spend hundreds to make their PC top of the line when only like 3 games require you to do so, prove that.
I'm a PC gamer and I like my computer to be good. What does that matter? If someone has the cash to buy a beefy PC, why not do it? If you can afford an 8 series BMW you probably aren't going to buy a honda civic, even though only a few roads have no speed limits.
In reality, $1500 is not a lot of money.
Your car analogy makes very little sense. No one buys a BMW to go fast. That's what Bugattis and SCCs are for. A BMW just looks nice.

The difference is that a car is a mode of transportation. If you can afford to get a nice one, then you can afford a lot more than just the BMW. A stock PC is good enough to play 90% of games that come out at great quality. I bought my computer for $300 and it come with the ability to play Crysis at medium resolution. Why do I need to spend $1500 just to be able to play it seamlessly when there are literally 1000s of games just like it. If you are spending that kind of money for that extra 10% of your hobby that isn't considered perfect, maybe you need to prioritize what your spending $1500 on. Or donate it if you have money to blow.

I'm just saying that PC Elitists are worse then Console Elitists. Nothing makes me laugh more then PC Elitists bragging about how powerful their PC is, playing games with low requirements like World of Warcraft and Diablo II, and complaining about that fact that Diablo III has colour in the screenshots. At least the console fan flames have died down recently.

I just feel like this is some kind of "My dad's better then your dad"-syndrome. Those times I've heard someone being an elitist(accually heard their voice, or saw them), it's always been a little kid(at most 16 years old, but most of the time around 14.

Those kids just think they're soooo cool. But they probably aren't even good at games.
I've seen alot of those that yell all the freaking time, and 9/10 they're bad, big time.

I think the games have somehow influenced alot of kids to become stupid thinking they're superior, so I blame games.

I'm an allaround gamer and I play alot, so I see those kind of haters alot. But I hate back. I so freaking hate those kids, they shouldn't be allowed to play games on anything... EVER!

Listen to a PC Elitist go on about how powerful his computer is and then mention the fact that 90% of PC games don't need that power. He'll flip shit and say the WOW and Diablo 2 are better than any console game.

PC elitists also need to realize that the console was the first "gaming" phenomenon to come about. PC gaming wasn't all that until Diablo II. Pac-Man for the Win.

It is my opinion that elitism occurs because gamers (myself include) are horrible people (as are people in general). I suppose part of PC gaming elitism comes from most hardcore PC gamers having powerful computers which most people have neither the time nor the money to construct and maintain. I personally do most of my gaming on consoles, because I can't afford a high end PC, don't use online multiplayer, and usually play neither FPSs nor RTSs. I tend to think that most third person action games, which I do play, benefit significantly from the use of a controller. RPGs, my other favorite genre, are about the same on any platform (barring modding, which is applicable only to games I don't play), although most of the one's I like are console only. Also, try playing armored core with a mouse and keyboard (not that it's particularly simple with a controller, either...).

In summary: Elitists suck and ruin things for everyone else unless they do it as a very well planned joke (usually in the form of being elitist about things which are obviously ridiculous and/or terrible).

PC gamers keep to themselves. They arent fanboys, they take pride in their machines and they leave it that. They dont engage in shit slinging. Obviously this group is different.

We're only elitist because we're better. It's not our fault.

I hope you started writing an angry response to this blatant troll.
Yea... no. Depends on what you refer to as better. PC has some great exclusive titles as do consoles. I enjoy consoles because of less lag, glitches, and general annoyances even though PC's have some great aspects, as in almost all of them.

Consoletard here. I've gamed on PC's. Hell, I've got some games on my laptop right now. Dead Space and RE5 (I also have Age 3 but I don't play that much). I can say this: aiming with a mouse in RE5 is...shaky and unsatisfying (I know, it's supposed to be, but still). My pinky hurts a while after holding shift to run (I can bind it to another key, I know, but...nowhere else feels right) and switching between weapons is a bit of a chore (using the QWERTY number keys). Playing it with my USB 360 controller though, feels fan-fucking-tastic. The game also looks a bit nicer on the PC, but really, the differences are kinda...hard to notice. Dead Space on the other hand, hooboy. Thank god for keyboards. It's not Flight Simulator, but I've got alot to manage and the abundance of keys is quite nice. I tried it on my 360 controller and it was VERY unfriendly. Everything was very context sensitive and I disliked that.

So where am I going with this? I boil the PC/Console War to playability. Complexity? Depth? Fuck that man. Console games and PC games alike can be shallower than a spoon or deeper than Rapture. Consoles are going to be limited by their hardware and interface, but so are PC games. How? TOO MANY FUCKING BUTTONS. Seriously, if "depth" means a control scheme that needs a computer manual to explain, it's too complex for me and I'm sure for much of the general public. Some people may like that. I guess those are the elitists. And some normal PC gamers too I suppose. Really it's all playability for me. Age 3 works fine on a PC. It'll be shit on a console because the control doesn't transfer. FPS's on either platform come down to a matter of taste. I prefer my trusty controller, others swear by mouse and key.

Get off your high horses elitists, I say. You're just as greedily suckling at the teat of the gaming biz as the consoletard; you don't need to look like a douche bag when you do it.

I hate it, it's just as bad as the console wars (which, ironically, alot of them make fun of), and this site is loaded with 'em (although it's still better than most places on the internet).

I'm a pc and console gamer, and it's difficult not to realize the stupidity of what some people say when you've actually played both.
I play both, AND I play the 360 and PS3. Most people I talk to know don't think it's strange at all. My PC has the balls to run some games quite decently, I've had a fail60 for a long time, and my friend has a PS3 and MAG (which is quite fun). God forbid someone plays more than a single system!

I like playing PC games, but I don't like running my PC to the ground faster doing it. I'm just trying to save some equipment by playing on a console.
