I hate PC elitism. I play both PC and Xbox and i'd choose any but RTS' and point and clicks on the 360 every time.

Every gaming platform has its elitists. The PC is no different.
For whatever reason, it's just worse with PCs.
I have to disagree. I've seen an almighy amount of bitching going on between PS3 and 360 fanboys. Whiny pathetic idiots will be whiny pathetic idiots, regardless of their gaming platform of choice.
and lets not forget that more people has PC than people have consoles

so the number of people that hate console would be significantly larger

but all platforms do have elitists.

Weird... It's funny because for the cost of an i7 processor I could probably get a 360...

But yes, as a predominantly PC based gamer, I am ashamed.
Hell, for the cost of an i7, you could build an up-to-date system around an AMD processor.
I'm getting a new AMD really soon, I think it's quad-core and $300... So i7 isn't a wonderful idea.

No, it's worse on PC. PC elitists who spend hundreds to make their PC top of the line when only like 3 games require you to do so, prove that.
I'm a PC gamer and I like my computer to be good. What does that matter? If someone has the cash to buy a beefy PC, why not do it? If you can afford an 8 series BMW you probably aren't going to buy a honda civic, even though only a few roads have no speed limits.
In reality, $1500 is not a lot of money.

Aren't you using a PC right now? Wouldn't that make you a "PC user"?

Ermm... Is there really that much of a division between the two parties? As far as my experience, it's a different interface, not a different world. You have puzzle games on both sides, FPSs on both sides, RPGs on both sides... What's different except the way you push the buttons?

I can think of one way consoles can return fire: how many directions can a PC gamer run in? And how many speeds does he/she have?

All Im going to say is that you dont get console fanboys who go around assume their chosen platform is better then others

Hahahah, I knew we'd get a few people show up and unwittingly prove the point that there is no shortage of obnoxious console fanboys. Here's one now. How ironic.
Hahahah, you didn't real the whole thread Einstein. Look a few posts up.

there is no divide so to speak, there are individuals who like to feel that their own petty quibbles have some kind of bearing on some overarching eternal struggle. it gives their petty arguements for or against the superiority of two near physically identical machines some kind of merit.

Srsly. I mean, FFVIII got a release for the PC, but it didn't make the game any less shitty.

Yeah, it's patently ridiculous, sure some genres work better on PC and some on console.

however, I've ended up playing so many games on PC using my lovely 360 joypad instead of keyboard and mouse, driving games especially really get a lot from a controller. (Yes I know I could buy a wheel, no I'm not going to.)

I'm also wondering how many PC elitists have never owned a console, did they really not enjoy their SNES, or Dreamcast, or Atari 2600 or Intellivision?

I think it's a sign of maturity when you can look across the road at your neighbour's Ferrari and know you enjoy driving your normal car and don't feel the need to make comments about Ferrari's reliability problems.

Apart from cheaper games, mods and a superior control system?

:3
You should probably read the whole thread. He was referring to Elitists, not PC gamers.

Because the individual games themselves work very differently on the two platforms and operate with differen goals and styles. Take FPSs for example, in the past decade the most important console FPS would be Halo whereas the biggest PC FPS is Half-Life 2. The difference is more noticable with multilayer FPSs with the PC favouring games like Battlefield and Team Fortress but consoles favouring Call of Duty and Halo, both are FPSs but they operate in very different ways.

Also PCs have an image of having slower, more intellegent games.

Could you elaborate on this? I'm not too sure what you're getting at here.
