I don't care if you like something, I care if you try to claim it's better than something I like though.
In general you should try both sides of the argument though. If someone claims chocolate ice cream is better than vanilla and you vehemently defend that it isn't without even trying chocolate ice cream your defense has little merit, doesn't it?
Absolutely, and to clarify, I do like PC gaming, just not as much as console gaming. My argument would be for people who try vanilla ice cream, find it to be perfectly serviceable, but then act like it is the spawn of Satan.

As far as I've found, elitists are people who either never tried anything, thus fitting into your argument (which I agree with) or people who found nothing wrong with the system, but continue to ***** about it for no other reason than because they want their toy to be acknowledged as the best evar.

Or the third option, people who tried it, didn't like it, and for some reason feel this gives them carte blanche to put down people who did like it. Sometimes other people have differing opinions, and most of the time those opinions have at least as much merit as yours, mmkay?
Yep, I'd agree with this.

I don't understand why PC gamers even jump in to the Console Wars. Nobody really bashes the PC but they always find a way in whenever a flame war jumps off.
Yeah, you never see quotes like this:

thoughts? I understand why they have this group. Consoles have absolutely screwed over PC gaming in a lot of ways and it's hte best way to game alone. The day you can easily play a mod on a console is when I shut up about PC being vastly superior in every way to teh console.
In every way huh?
Scenario - "Wanna come over and play (some game)?"

PC Version - "Sure, I'll just disconnect everything, carry it all down to the car, drive over, carry it all inside, set it all back up again, get network sorted, and then go"

Console - "Sure, I'll be right over"

PC Smacktalk - yelling into a microphone, or typing angry words into a keyboard

Console - pushing your mate off the couch

Every system has its pros and cons. You can't justify calling an entire group of gamers retards just because they don't share your point of view.

congrats on finding the one way consoles work better. Congrats. have a cookie. I think it's hte best way to game alone though and in that department beats the console in every way.

Just let them think they're superior. They have nothing else going for them.
Hahahah, I knew we'd get a few people show up and unwittingly prove the point that there is no shortage of obnoxious console fanboys. Here's one now. How ironic.
Hahahah, you didn't real the whole thread Einstein. Look a few posts up.
Use some nouns next time, Shakespeare, so people know who you're talking about.
Alright fair enough.

Weird... It's funny because for the cost of an i7 processor I could probably get a 360...

But yes, as a predominantly PC based gamer, I am ashamed.
Hell, for the cost of an i7, you could build an up-to-date system around an AMD processor.
Woot, another person that realizes that AMD is the way to go.
We must band together and spread the word.

I've always been a console gamer since i first started 12+ years ago and have owned every major console since the PS1, including handhelds but excluding the PS3. However, i only recently bought a PC gaming rig (october) and i have to say that i much prefer playing games on my PC.

I think it's because they're in higher resolution and are generally more detailed with better physics (my experience so far) and i feel more immersed when i use a mouse (though this does cause me to jump out my skin alot!).

Despite this, i still think certain games belong on the console. For example, since getting my PC, i have bought Forza III and arkham asylum for my 360 and really loved them, but when i got arkham asylum for the PC (steam sale, came free with a pack) i didnt think the controls handled as well all. I also ended up with RF:guerilla for PC and 360 and preferred the 360 version as the multiplayer was handled far better, and still go back to play halo and Resi 5 for the exact same reason.

All in all, i can't see why people are so closed minded regarding consoles and PCs, i love them both! Though err slightly in favour of the PC (possibly because it's still a new experience for me!)

I agree then - PC gaming is better than consoles in every way, except for the ones it isn't

I can think of one way consoles can return fire: how many directions can a PC gamer run in? And how many speeds does he/she have?
That really only matters in racing games. In say, FPSes, the speed of keypresses and speed and precision of a mouse are better for maneuverability than having analogue sticks, which is why feats of movement like this:
Or this:
Are really only possible on a PC with M&K (doubly so because the whole thing is a mod + custom made maps!)

Yeah, people like that just annoy me. I'm also a PC gamer at heart, and I just feel that statements like these marr the fact that we're all gamers together. I don't think the PC is 'better' than the consoles, it's just a different format for a different kind of person. People who make statements like that are just morons, nothing but.

Consoles (PS3, XBOX360, WII, etc) are made for noobs. It is for stupid retards who can't realize the beauty of enjoying games with complexity, depth and hardcore skilled gameplay. Playing FPS or RTS on console with a controller is retarded.

Next gen my ass. Say hello to Core i7, GTX300 and HD5000. Beat me with my G9 3200 DPI hardware accuracy or lick my feet. I would enjoy fragging the thumb controller noobs.

PC gamers eat console noobs for breakfast. In our world of PC gaming, you console noobs are...insignificant. Period.
Every single statement this person makes, especially the bolded ones, makes me cry that such a fool is giving my platform of choice such a bad name. Don't trust him, PC gamers are a nice folk, generally.

I do hope that this isn't the impression that console gamers get when they see PC gamers, I really do.
Strangely, that person sounds much more noobish then many console gamer's i have encountered..

Honestly though, each platform has it's fanboys and elitest, really all it comes down too is what you pefer.

I said CONSOLE war threads. If this thread was about PS3 or 360, no one would throw in the PC except PC fanboys. Also he didn't bash the PC. He bashed its users for being elitist.

your choice of platform is down to personal taste and the amount of money you have available.
for example I prefer the PS3's controllers and think the 360's are too heavy, conversely my friend prefers the layout of a 360 controller and thinks that the PS3's controllers are way too light (although I could probably mention that he thinks he could make helium balloons from them... actually that would be awesome.)

Every gaming platform has its elitists. The PC is no different.
For whatever reason, it's just worse with PCs.
I'm pretty sure the reason is because games are being made for consoles first, and PCs second. This always results in a UI that isn't well designed for a player with a mouse. I'm mainly looking at Oblivion here.

I used to game on both PCs and consoles, but since this generation hit, PC games and Console games are hardly different, so the elitism is mush stronger because they can be directly compared. Not only that, but current PC games can be compared to older ones, and they are noticeably different for the worse. This forces the conclusion that console games are hurting PC gamers, so the gamers are getting pissed.

Personally, I just live and let live with the new PC games and just focus on the older, more fun games. There is no need to dis perfectly good gaming consoles, but they just aren't for me.

I'm a console gamer. Do I wish I had a PC gaming rig? Yes, but I'm under the firm impression that if I also owned a PS3 then I would have access to every platform, which would make me happy. I think gaming elitism stems from people who can't afford to own every platform, making up a reason to validate their purhcase.
Spot on! When I was younger and bought my PS2, I would have defended it to the death against all the Xbox and GameCube owners. I saved long and hard to buy that Playstation so there was no waaaaay anyone was going to make me think my purchase might not have been the right one.
These days I have all the available consoles and a PC, and I couldn't give a shit about who thinks what is better. I have them all so I can play the games I want, in the way I want to play them.

I think the PC gamers are just getting pissed off because developers are designing games for consoles in mind and then porting them to PC as an afterthought. I think they just need to deal with it and buy what is most compatible with the system rather then getting annoyed when something doesn't work perfectly. I'm not going to buy the latest Need for Speed for my PC, just as I sure a hell would never buy an RTS game for console. Certain things are made for each system so you can't really compare or complain, so it really comes down to what works for you.

I feel like joining.
Just for the lolz. I play ps3 at my friends house and enjoy playing the ps3 exclusives.

Although playing an fps on a console if off limits for me.
