I have to disagree. I've seen an almighy amount of bitching going on between PS3 and 360 fanboys. Whiny pathetic idiots will be whiny pathetic idiots, regardless of their gaming platform of choice.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of that too.

I get annoyed by all of the gaming snobs. PC gamers (in my opinion) have been more prevalent, because a few of my friends are said snobs, but I don't see any reason to be like that.
I'm a balanced gamer. I currently just have the 360, but I like a lot of games on the PS3 and Wii, and I have a handful of PC games.
I will say I never did get into PC gaming. I've never had a computer of my own until recently, and newer games require newer additions onto a PC sometimes, and that went over my head in both price and confusion. Oh well... I still have plenty of great games to play...

This is why I can't stand people. It seems everyone is a just whiny ***** who can't shut up and enjoy anything unless they put someone else down.

I'd play pc games more if it weren't for DRM. I will never play a game that forces you to have internet on at all times. It isn't going to happen.

Since I'm late to having a powerful gaming PC (I call it the TARDIS, it has an i7 processor, 6GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1TB HDD, a 1920x1080 HD monitor, plus 5.1 surround sound speakers), I haven't really been exposed to the elitism of others. Even if I was, I doubt I'd respect it. There's something so illogical about such arrogance.

I could write a book about how silly people are for getting so emotional about their consumption of consoles versus PCs or vice versa that they believe one is objectively superior to another. The book would list the numerous fallacies and social prejudices at work behind such thinking... but even if it was exhaustive, I doubt it would've expressed enough concerning this.

Sadly, I don't think those who believe their favourite machine to be objectively superior to other popular ones would be able to read said book. After all, reading an entire non-fiction book would inevitably be an intellectual challenge to them.

Exactly! The correct response to "I like (console/game of choice)" should be "Good for you", not "you're a retard because I disagree with you/have low self-esteem/hate to see people having fun"

And I hate steam for that reason - I buy a game, I put it in, I expect to play. Not sit around all day waiting for updates and registration.

Every gaming platform has its elitists. The PC is no different.
For whatever reason, it's just worse with PCs.

I'll agree with Kiefer; I barely EVER hear people arguing about PC vs anything, whereas console battles are a regular occurrence.

On another note, this thread topic is waaaay overdone.

I'm a console gamer. Do I wish I had a PC gaming rig? Yes, but I'm under the firm impression that if I also owned a PS3 then I would have access to every platform, which would make me happy. I think gaming elitism stems from people who can't afford to own every platform, making up a reason to validate their purhcase.
Spot on! When I was younger and bought my PS2, I would have defended it to the death against all the Xbox and GameCube owners. I saved long and hard to buy that Playstation so there was no waaaaay anyone was going to make me think my purchase might not have been the right one.
These days I have all the available consoles and a PC, and I couldn't give a shit about who thinks what is better. I have them all so I can play the games I want, in the way I want to play them.
I like seeing my gaming platforms with personalities, weird I know.
My Wii is all like, "I may not be very powerful, but I'ves got Okami, Zelda, Mario and Metroid bitches!" Very happy-go-lucky.
My 360 is right next to it spouting random FPS expletives and masses of RPG codex entries.
My DS like to make it known that it can be used while the user is on the toilet and My laptop is sad because I only really play guild Wars on it.
I wish I had a PS3 to add some pretentious sophistication to the group.

Just let them think they're superior. They have nothing else going for them.

I'm talking about the ELITISTS not the PC GAMERS! STOP QUOTING ME!
But why? It is so much fun

Elitism sucks. . . period, no matter who is doing it.
No one is any better or worse than anyone else, and every group has their members that the rest wish weren't members
Any other cliches I should throw in there? Just for good measure?

Honestly, it's a pity we can't all just get along by now.

There are morons on every gaming platform, and like any other walk of life they will act like idiots and sling diatribes at anyone with the one they don't have.

Best ignored, I say.

Which is why I'll happily stay in the past and play games like Fallout 2, Arcanum and all the other countless singleplayers that don't have retarded DRM attached.

Because PC gamers don't have the stupid console wars. They have no enemy.
Well, except for macs, but that's different.

Weird... It's funny because for the cost of an i7 processor I could probably get a 360...

But yes, as a predominantly PC based gamer, I am ashamed.
Hell, for the cost of an i7, you could build an up-to-date system around an AMD processor.
Woot, another person that realizes that AMD is the way to go.
Always has been imo. For the price you can't go wrong!

I'm a PC elitist and even I think this is such bullshit. I mean, PC is great and all but it's not like consoles are horrible peices of shit. They're perfectly respectable gaming platforms.
See, why can't more elitist be more like you? Because in the end, we are all gamers. Platform has never mattered (maybe when the NES came out but thats another story)

It's funny how they love to trot out console specs and then laugh haughtily about how much stronger PCs are. That's true, but it's a real shame we don't all have $2000 to spend every couple of years to build a machine capable of running all the best games at the highest resolutions.

lol, I'm at university at the moment and I left my old PS2 back home. That's in a box somewhere feeling abandoned. Wish I thought to bring it with me. Been wanting to play some Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

Computers were the original home gaming platform.
Then some underpowered, uni-functional box comes along and struts about as if it was somehow 'better'.
PCs has superior EVERYTHING, and still consoles act all high and mighty.
The nerve!

Something like that?

I built my computer 3 years ago for under $1000, and it's still out-performing consoles.
Sure, PCs are more expensive, grunt per buck-wise, but they aren't as expensive as you seem to think.
Consoles are actually holding the graphic standard down, so it's not actually expensive to keep up with a PC due to that.
A reasonably powerful PC will last you years now.

I believe there are gaming genre's that lend itself to one platform or another. My PC has more horsepower than an XBox360 and it hooks up to my TV... You wouldn't catch me dead playing an FPS on a console with my thumbs... nor would you see me try and play Street Fighter with my keyboard. It's not about being elitest for me so much as logical.
This is a good point to make. I use my laptop to game for things that are simply not going to work well on my consoles. Things like RTS, Lower end shooters (requirements not quality), and a slew of lower cost products (plants vs. zombies anyone?). My 360 fits most of my online needs because you can really find a good community of people for every game, despite all the "Ima own you so hard" folks that make it famous. Now that I have a PS3 I reserve it for the single player experience, and fighting games since that controller is far superior to the 360 in terms of fighting mechanics. I hate the terrible dpad of the 360 more than any other aspect of a console.

A gaming platform can't serve every game type well. Admitting this is half the battle for most people.
