I'm still waiting for a 'User Essays/Projects' Forum, so this Anime one will have to wait in line.

Doesn't User Reviews serve the same function? I mean, I posted this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.117338#2217128], and there wasn't an issue. Still, it would be nice to change the title of the section so it could envelop more material.

I'm not talking so much about articles, but they could easily be integrated as well.

I'm more talking about user-made rants, stories and webcomics, among other things.

EDIT: Also, my sister hates anime while she loves manga. I'd expect some people to have it the other way around. Suggest a Manga/Anime forum? After all, it's just an art style and nationality that sets them apart from comics and cartoons.

It is true that there's a good number of threads in the Off-Topic section with that sort of material though... The artist in thee & The Short Story Thread both come to mind.

I do enjoy anime, and I find Escapist forums to produce the best arguments out of all the internet forums I know of.
However, I think anime forums would only generate real interest for me if there are also anime news and columns on the site to go with it.

I would definately use it because I think we could have a more specific discussion about anime than "What's your favorite anime?". There are many things related to anime that are too specific for the off-topic section and I think a lot of escapists would like to talk about something more specific related to anime without having their topics die off immedietly.

Why would you explain it away? There are people that like both games and anime, it's not like they can't be together. Why does Gamefaqs have forums about wrestling or food? Because people who play games are also interested in those kinds of topics.

We don't have the same format as Gamefaqs, I don't see much of a comparison. I just went over there, they have like 5 regular forums with a billion subforums each. We don't have that here, and I'd venture to say our forums are much neater. I don't see the problem with just posting your anime stuff in Off Topic, because that it was it's there for, unless you want a different subforum for every topic imaginable like Gamefaqs.

I think that'd be able to fit in off-topic (rants , RL stories, and webcomics) sorta well. Although I do think that is a good idea for a forum. Last I checked, not all cartoons come from comics.

While User's Corner sounds like a good idea, it's a pretty vague name and cuts in to the reviews, which would probably not like to be so; that's why I've been suggesting the 'User Projects' forum since last August (almost a year now, actually). With Off-Topic sending threads plummeting at blazing speed nowadays, we need a special place to put them more and more.

I was trying to come up with a good name to encompass all user-generated materials. Alas, my naming skills aren't up to par today.

It's even worse when these projects/rants don't prompt that much discussion, so they die a whole lot quicker than a regular conversation. And trust me, most of them are better than anything that's on the front page at the moment.

Other than 'The Banhammer and You', of course. The handsome genius that wrote that thread deserves a medal.

Agreed. Besides, it gives me the chance to do something MORE awesome than that to earn the badge. Lord only knows what it's going to be, but hopefully it involves explosions and giant robots. A love interest wouldn't hurt either.

Anime reference ahoy!

Being serious, I'm even more enthused with the idea of a User Projects style forum given the Fan Fiction threads that got started up. That and the Short Story thread have both gotten my creative writing chops drooling. It's been a long time since I've gone the creative writing route, and I can't let my skills get rusty.

(I actually already wrote a piece for the Short Story section, but it was a minor bit. I've done MUCH better in the past.)

Well, we got anime reviews approved by the Escapist. Why not have a manga/anime forum?

It would leave place in the off-topic forums for other discussions. That and I will finally stop saying "I don't watch animes, but I do read mangas".

It'd be nice, but I feel not enough people on this forum are avid Anime lovers. Also, discussion points would be low. It would get old quick.
