I'm not trying to be offensive or rude, but I would appreciate it if you were a little bit more considerate of other players before you use the rep system.

The whole microphone issue would be sorted if the Xbox version wasn't as badly stripped down as the PC version. We need a full speech menu, regardless of how unwieldly it might be.

And the problem with teams will be sorted come 21st April, because the lobby menu of choosing teams will only apply for the first chapter, as the highest scoring team will play as human to start the next chapter.

If you ask me, the team who plays as the humans first gets an advantage though. We're the first to know when a tank comes, and we have to act immediately. They know when they get a Tank when they get a turn, and they can strategise. THey also know right off the bat when they geta Witch, so they can plan way beforehand how to go around it.

Want to know what I hate the most? Left 4 Dead is a team based game, surviving is primarily built on communication.

Then when I start talking about how a smoker has me the team (which had been silent the whole game anyway) boot me for talking.

Ugghhh.

Boot for talking? Why on earth would that be the case?

I write down the names of ragequitters and keep them on a huge list on a notepad file, if I see one of them I leave. This list just won't stop growing...

Edit: Also anyone with numbers in there name, I leave.

i note that in the begining of any campaign there is a brief period of 15 seconds where no one can move (in versus neither the human or infected can move during that time), if you start as infected then you are subject to the wait time if you start as human, when you become infected for the first time you are not subject to that wait, but the current humans are.giving the current infected a chance to set up before the curent humans can even move, so humans are more effective infected the the original infected. (i always start as francis)

personally i never quit a campain, whether losing or winning, i respect people who can royally trounce me in a fair fassion. as long as the humans arent exploiting the melee feature by crouching in a coner and meleeing like a mad man, or the infected aren't using the world edges for an advantage then i salute my enemy.

Such a beautifully crafted game deserves to be played with respect to all its features and players, unlike halo.

No clue, I'm typically very quiet on Xbox Live. But when a Smoker has me I'll say "Hey guys, A smoker has me." or if I see a Boomer around a corner I'll warn them. Then the little boot box pops up with 3 dudes agreeing to boot me out. My voice isn't annoying or anything and I doubt that 12 seconds of talking per 4 rounds of L4D is too much for them to handle.

Negative feedback is not temporary.

Again, your complaints are very self centered. They basically amount to "Wah I want to make other people suffer for my own enjoyment."

Also you can solve some of these problems yourself. People leave because they can't be infected? Choose humans at the beginning of the game so the infected slots are open.
If I played over XBox live I'd use such a feedback system on a regular basis when people quit. I love how people whine about "abuse" of the feedback system.

Want to make others suffer for, well, our enjoyment? No. This is about dealing with a plague that manifests itself in online games. People who leave the game far before conclusion ruin the game for almost everyone else. My side, AND the opposing side. If you don't enjoy the game, play a different bloody game.

If you probably don't have time to finish? DON'T START. It's that simple.

If anything, it's not harsh enough.

Valve hate consoles anyway.

Remember Team Fortress 2?

Remember the map with the bomb and the minecard? We don't got that.
The backburner? Nope
Sandvich? No.

'nuff said.
You know what's funny and wrong about this?

1) The x-Box has a incredibly limited HD space compared to a PC, So releasing large map/content updates for game becomes much more difficult.
2) Steam really does try to keep up the updates for the X-box, but all DLC has to be approved by microsoft before it can be released which slows the process down.

Also, I'm so glad I play PC, there must be something about having better controls that make players less of whiny douche bags. Yea people leave a game, no big deal, someone else will probably join shortly, if not, you get shorter respawn times with infected, or you get a fairly competent computer teammate. If you are so worried about winning the game that you NEED 4 people before you can play, you're taking the game much too seriously. TEH INTERNETZ R SERIZ BZNIS I know, but take a few deep breaths every once in awhile.

On the subject of Bots. Yes they do not react as quickly as a human can, but the react much more reliably. Sure, if a human player is paying attention, then they can get a hunter/smoker off of you before it can get more than a hit off. However, if said human player is covered in bile, or not paying attention, you may be incapacitated before they even realize that you need help. Bots don't generally have this problem. Covered in bile, getting swarmed, doesn't matter; they come to help you within seconds of you being attacked. I admit they can glitch out sometimes and just stand there while you get mauled, but thats a mechanical issue.

Darn, I have 85 in my name for my birth year. Add that I've been guilty of leaving during a game but only because my comp crashes and I lose connection.

That's actually not Valve's fault, but the Xbox360's fault, namely the fact that the original TF2, as in the first release, pushed the xbox 360's memory to it's limits, and; as pretty much every pc gamer will tell you, each new update bumps up the system requirements, so they are trying to make it less memory intensive so that the xbox gamers can actually play the game.

go read their blog sometime, it tells you the exact same thing, don't *****.
(Oh, and not having the backburner? you guys are fucking blessed, every noob pyro throws on the backburner and just runs around like a goddamn tit, it's annoying, no i'm not butthurt, they are easy to beat, but when there are 8 of them on MY GODDAMN TEAM, then I rage.)

Other than that i completely agree with Nox's opinions, hell if they leave the game early, sure they may have a valid reason, and yes if they aren't having fun then why SHOULD they stay? but do you know what leaving causes? US TO NOT HAVE FUN CAUSE YOU LEFT! so if you do it, of course I will goddamn throw your rep down, don't want it to go down? don't be a dick and hinder our fun.

It really is as simple as this - it's there to give other players indication, if they leave to hinder my fun, I would like to warn others that this event has occured, and would not like to play with him as much in the future there is nothing more to it than that.

I have never noticed that before. I knew that the wait time was there, but I didn't know it was one-sided.

It doesn't matter, though. If NEITHER team can move, then nobody gets the advantage.
I suppose it's to allow the opening dialogue to iterate.

Pretty annoying, but interesting.

I'd say just play on the PC.
The only real difference is the fact that the selfish bastards aren't six years old. Both versions are certainly good with coming up with a team in a little bit of time, I always do. Also, Valve is releasing an update to match a team of four with another team of four for a matchmaking type thing. That'd make this topic moot and for a good reason.

That's a very selfish way to look at the issue.

The point of the game is to have fun. If the player isn't having fun then they shouldn't have to play the game any longer.

Nova.

SHUT UP.

WHO CARES if it's a selfish way to look at it?! Just because it's selfish doesn't make it wrong. Just because you say it's wrong doesn't make it so!

The subject has been dropped SO SHUT UP and stop trying to reignite the argument!

Nox, you're about to only person I've heard of that actually gives a crap about the feedback system.

On topic: So we've already covered players quitting for not having fun, but what about quitting because of lag? I don't think there is anybody who likes to play with lag.

You're right, it is very selfish of them to quit a game midway through ruining the fun of not only myself, but others in the game. Thanks for agreeing with me.

We're not the ones ruining many people's fun by giving unbalanced sides, among other things. Who's the selfish ones? Not we.

Maybe you should play outside of your circle of friends then?

On second thoughts, don't. Friends are great, if they did half the stuff in this topic (rant notwithstanding), then they wouldn't be friends, then.

Regardless, the system is there and I intend to use it.

It's NOT imbalanced sides.

Like I said, if you'd care to open your eyes: it only effects the person receiving it in connection to the person giving it.

IT ONLY MEANS YOU'LL, AND ONLY YOU'LL, BE LESS LIKELY TO PLAY WITH THEM IN FUTURE

THE SOONER YOU TWO GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS, THE HAPPIER EVERYONE WILL BE.
