Like someone said, there's acceptable camping and then there's bad camping.

If you're in the middle of the map near an objective point defending, that's acceptable camping. Note I did not say "Good camping", because there is no such thing.

If you're sitting in a corner of the map with Claymores waiting on unsuspecting people to wander by you, that is absolutely unacceptable and I hope you die. Really I do.

Oh, I thought you where talking about camping camping. But ya I do it and I'm very good at it, but realistically you can get 2-3 kills before someone get's smart enough to flank you depending on the person...

I camp with the M4, I hate spawncampers with a passion...

camping is only annoying if its at a spawn-location (in games that have them)

But I think people get pissed off by it, because they were killed, and because it wasn't from a player playing the same way they do i.e. the right way, to them.

Its just another obstacle to tackle when moving, making sure you check corners and remember common places where people wait- especially if youre following someone and they might know youre behind them

The problem with camping is people is the fact that if everyone did it then the match wouldn't proceed and also everyone would just be a sniper. That's why game maps are being designed so that there is no perfect camping spots anymore. I believe that being mobile gives a greater sense of risk and therefore is more enjoyable, unless of course you get sniped by a camper. Main point, camp if you really wanna win, don't if you wanna enjoy the game.

it's annoying i enjoy the run and gun aspect of shooters for whatever reason the half-second reflex duel makes me happy needless to say someone i can't see hiding in a bush ruins this for me.

I fucking HATE campers, but they have to meet my standard of a camper. My standard of a camper is when one person sits in one cheap spot for the majority of the match. The reason why its cheap is because its not fun. Your sitting in one spot waiting for the enemy to come to you, the enemy doesnt have fun, and neither does anyone else.

Your also not helping you team much, at all. If its a TDM and you just sit there, your barely helping your team at all.

The point of the game is to have fun, and if your just not making it fun then thats why i hate it.

However, if your defending a set OBJECTIVE (NOT a fucking frequented hallway) then its alright, because you ARE helping your team by making sure that your area is safe.

So pretty much, campers annoy me, but if they are staying within my standards its alright.

UNLESS they're using dual 1887's which arent shotguns, there mother fucking snipers, then you just suck at the game.

But if its real combat then i have no problem against it, why, because your life is kinda at stake and its not for fun. When i play airsoft i play dirty, i set up a trip wire on a road, so when the enemy team sprung it a wall of logs blocked their path foward, then my ambush raped them up the ass, it was fun.

I dont hate campers but its annoying too see them getting the best score with an easy way to get it while we non hardcore campers have a hard time getting as much kills :]

If you camp it usally means you suck on direct battle that theory is true around 80% of the time and camping Is in a way unfair cos' you don't give you're emeny not as much as a chanse to fight back example if you play cod on some stages you need to use martydom nearly even cheaper tactic to kill someone you run infront the camper than he kills you he don't have the time to run away after you spawn you must gaurd the same area so the goddamn camper must find a new spot ofen more vunreble and get easy killed and in the end he didin't win anything on it and than I say gaurd I don't mean camping more walking a special route around the area. but I only do that if the camper really is wining alot of points for hes team but sniper camping is ok cos' you still don't have a chanse if you run over open terrain if it's a sniper on the other side

Perhaps if you use some more punctuation here, rather than 1 full stop and 1 capitilisation, I could make out more of the point you are attempting to garble across. However, from what I have made out, you are saying that camping doesn't give the other player a chance.
I am not there to hold the other players hand. I am there to shoot him, preferably before he does it to me. It's not cheating, it's winning. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheCombatPragmatist] While I won't spawn camp [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvenEvilHasStandards], in any other situation, I've got no problem with it, as long as it is not abusing a glitch.

It's a legitimate strategy, sure, but there's something infuriating on a primal level about being killed before you can react by someone who's just sitting there. It's on the same level of frustration as playing a platformer where the only way to know where the insta-kill obstacles are is to be killed by them, and then have to work your way back up to them from the checkpoint.

Thankfully, there's extremely well-designed multiplayer games like MW2 where there are very few camping points that are unflankable (and the heartbeat sensor is at its best for tracking down campers).

Before you make any assumptions, no, I am not a fanboy. In fact, I'm infuriated that it takes twenty minutes on average to connect to any game at all, and have put it on the shelf to play Bad Company instead. I'm simply making a point that camping can be less of a problem in games where more time and consideration is put into designing the multiplayer aspect.

I rarely "camp" and certainly don't spawn camp.
However I do like to secure an area. I don;t run around the map but I pick about a quarter of the map that I know all the entrances to and check them frequently for enemies. Usually works pretty effectively

Camping only is really a problem in one on one matches where it's easy for the camper to find an easily defenable area and be near immpossible to kill. I did it to my brother once and got 20 and 0 deaths in a 5 minute match. The real annoying in cheap tactic, in my opinion, is spawn camping, especially with a sniper rifle aimed at where the head will appear.

I dont see it as bad all the time. there are reasons why someone would stay still such as using a Sniper in a good location or a heavy weapon. But waiting repeatedly in a place that allows spawn kills is just annoying and skill less =]

Cest le Guerre, I always say. Sniper rifles don't work as well if you're standing up/running, either.

There is no problem, people just get pissed because they get killed and blame it on the most retarded things.

Defending an area is fine etc, but it's when you position yourself down a corridoor, looking at the the only way in or out from the start of the game to the end, it's just not fun. I suppose one way to look at it is that it's not very sporting, and when an entire team does it the game just sucks. I've once played a game where both teams camped completely, it was idioticly boring, so much so me and someone on the other team just quit. I like to think they are still there, waiting...

Because it's a completely cheap way of getting kills and not very fun or fair if you're just going to sit and wait for people to run past.

Call of Duty is great at stopping campers; at any given spot, you have several directions to watch. So a camper will often get blindsided, or even surprised by the person coming in.

See, the guy moving round the corner knows he may or may not encounter someone. The person camping doesn't have that constant awareness. The person sitting down will usually end up with more of a surprise to see the other guy.

well a runner should really keep their eyes peeled.

I don't really camp, but that just makes sense. if you pay any type of attention and decently know the map a camper should really only be able to get you from the same spot once. after that, it's up to you to either take them out, or if they're out of your reach, to avoid that area. I really don't see how it's cheap.
