Kinect, being obviously superior to the Wii's [...]
I think it was your use of the word "obviously" that tripped you up and now makes you seem contradictory, forcing you to do a bit of revisionism in the name of fairness. But never mind that.I can only go on what I've seen - no-one knows what Kinect will be like when it's actually released, which is why I'm making a judgement based on personal experience.
How do you make a character walk from one end of a room to another with walking into your TV? If the answer is to walk in place then it becomes a tiring experience to play something like gears of war or halo with such a control scheme as there is running in there you'd also lose the ability to walk in place like that toomrpmpfan said:What limitations are you speaking of? When I tried the demo for Kinectimals it could sense down to my finger tips. Also according to press videos it will be able to detect random objects to scan in or use in games. It can detect facial recongintion and voice. I fail to see the limitations.Lexodus said:Practically everyone who's going to get a Wii has a Wii by now. I still think Kinect is a shitty idea though. The problems with it are obvious; there are limitations to what you can pick up entirely by sensors, which is why I believe that the Move (or whatever the fuck that thing is) is a slightly better (or, in any case, less shitty) idea, as it's a direct rip off of the Wii.
Can't disagree with you there. I do believe that is bullshit, but I don't have an Xbox 360 in the first place, and I don't play a lot of the Wii anyways, I'm more of a PC gamer. So I will stick with my wii for awhile, because it has Zelda and Zelda rules.mrpmpfan said:Thats pretty cool. I think the Kinect will offer an overall better package. The best thing is to have a 2nd player play with you on Kinect you need to buy nothing additional. Where is the minimum to pay to get a 2nd controller for the Wii its $40 for a wiimote and $20 for the numchuck. However if you need to play with wiimotion plus it will be another $20. So you are talking $80 extra per person.dfphetteplace said:Personally, I like my Wii and will not be buying a Kinect.
Thats why they released the Virtual Boy, GBA Micro, N64 and Gamecube....they totally know what they are doing.OmegaXzors said:No, as Kinect is a device that Nintendo rejected when making the Wii. Nintendo knows what they're doing.
How is $150 a bad price? Its apparent that Microsoft is throwing a lot of money behind Kinect so there are going to be a handsome library of games to follow. Most of us (including myself) have bought a band kit (mine being Rock Band 2) which cost close to $200. And the kit only plays with other music games. Rock Band and Guitar Hero have sold a ton of kits at the near $200 price so explain to me why a new motion control system for $150 is too pricey.nathan-dts said:With the price tag it has? No fucking chance.
Well something a lot of people don't know is that Kinect comes with Kinect Adventures for free. Plus all Kinect games are going to be $50 and cheaper.Cheesepower5 said:Maybe a 50 damage or so dent in it's Yiazmat quantities of HP.
Yes because Price is Right on the Wii is completely not shovelware. Dude almost every 3rd party title on the Wii is shovelware.AugustFall said:No, anyone who wants the motion experience has a Wii already and anyone in the future is going to take it over the Kinect due to price (need to just by the Wii rather than xbox and the kinect) and the actual decent games on the Wii opposed to a bunch of shovelware on the kinect.
In essence what I'm saying is no one will pick the Kinect over the Wii. Maybe a few people will have both but the Kinect will fail just like the Move.
Actually I'm interested in motion control and I don't have a Wii yet so that kind of disproves your theory.AugustFall said:No, anyone who wants the motion experience has a Wii already and anyone in the future is going to take it over the Kinect due to price (need to just by the Wii rather than xbox and the kinect) and the actual decent games on the Wii opposed to a bunch of shovelware on the kinect.

Exactly, just because its a motion control doesn't mean it can't be used in controller based games. Head tracking, motion based menu and issuing commands, motion based mini-games or fighting in other wise controller based games.ThePlasmatizer said:I see a lot of people hating on the Kinect but if you aren't excited about this you haven't imagined the range of possibilities that can be achieved through its use.
can you show me one of those articles? Im not trying to be combative, ive just heard nothing of the sort on any game site(i visit alot of sites) and would like to be educated if you are indeed correct. Also dont come at me with an article from some guy who has never worked with the system saying that its going to be a *****.mrpmpfan said:Also for those who say Nintendo is moving on to the 3DS. I almost laughed. Have you not read the stories where game companies have concerns to program for it. Also its a handheld system not a console.
Unless you just want to judge it by the numbers. I mean there has to be a saturation point in the market. The Wii should be close to that by now. And then both Move and Kinect have a large gap to fill to begin to catch up.Dxz5roxg said:The Wii hasn't been doing as good as it was so anything will have an effect on it. The real question is whether or not people will want to spend all the money on a Xbox ( if they don't have one ) and the $150 Kinect.
