My wife plays on WoW I know unless she's in a guild with someone she makes no claims of gender to avoid this situation. She thinks it's mostly because she plays as a Tauren and Undead so that most people don't even think to ask her if she's a girl.

Some people online are dicks to everyone. Back when I actually did lots of random online gaming I heard "Hey Nexus, you're a ******." randomly before each round more times than I can count. Ha! I found ways to turn that back around on them though with some rather humorous results. That's why its best to game with friends though.

Pretty much all the girls I've ever dated have experienced this. Pretty irritating for them and you.
Guys are simple-minded morons. Our entire thought process can be summed up in two words: "sex" and "food." I respect any who can repress said desires when needed and use them correctly.

I don't really get dicked on since I don't really allude to the fact that I'm a girl (I always mute, my name isn't really girly, whatever else). It's kind of stupid. Either you're treated like you're hot shit since you're the only girl so they all try to impress with their 'lulz' or you're treated abusively because you're a girl and you should be 'making a sandwich instead of playing COD'. Dude, just play the freaking game and get over yourself.
So far I've pretty much found that the guys who act like turds are usually younger. Hopefully, with time, they'll grow out of it. Or at least learn to censor it. Of course, there are turds of all ages, and not all young guys are turds.
I've got some great male gamer friends. They're respectful, love playing with a gamer chick who can kick their butts, and do occasionally flirt but don't do it in a creepy/icky way.

I know its out there but I have never actually heard this stuff. A couple of friends of mine, guys and girls, told me about all the shit people say on xbox live etc. I play CoD on computer and always mute the chat and the worded chat is more often than not completely irrelevent. In most games play nobody ever has anything of value to say about the game plan.

I'm not a girl, but I am extremely concerned about this issue, being as I am very self conscious with my manners. I've always tried to be as much of a gentleman as I've been able to both to men and women alike, both live and on Xbox Live. Seeing this sort of thing coming from those that, allegedly, belong to the same species as me is rather repulsive. It's extremely disheartening to see the extents to which some people sink. Sure, I'm sure they're as desperate as me, being as I am a 17 year old virgin, but I think that what they don't realize is that gamer girls are usually (generalizations are usually wrong) much more clever than your average high school bimbo and that they won't be impressed by their gamerscore.

I feel like a complete tool just reading this thread.[sub]eventhough I have not tried be mean to a female in my life[/sub] I'll be the first to admit that we men are asses. I try my best not to offend any female (or male for that matter) unless they insult my friends or family, and I KNOW they are not kidding. I sent a trojan horse to a guy over LIVE just because he was being a total dick to one of my best friends on LIVE just because he happened to be gay. I hope that the fairer sex does not judge we males by the actions of our assholio duchebag bretherin, and try to find our nicer specimines...{sub]like me![/sub]
