Tl;dr all of it but you seem to be assuming the card games and animé series were first, when it was actually the game. The cards and tv show are supposed to capture the idea of the game, not the other way around.Eclectic Dreck said:-snip-

A short bit of research reveals you are indeed correct, but the larger point I endeavored to make (that the franchise indeed has neither room nor need for improvement) stands in spite of this.Abengoshis said:Tl;dr all of it but you seem to be assuming the card games and animé series were first, when it was actually the game. Pokemon will never end as long as their are still people watching/playing it...if your a true fan to Pokemon, you will respect that this a show for kids, and not us teens/adults, therefore it should not change just Because you and few other don't like it.
No matter what the hell you try to do, it will take alot for Pokemon to change, think of Pokemon in the real world, in our world Animals are different all over the globe, same with Pokemon, why should they keep it relativity the same when it isn't in the real world? Hell i'd love to see what Pokemon live in Africa, the amount of stuff they could do.
stop Trolling, and respect it for what it is.
By the way, anyone else notice that these hate threads usually have under 100 posts?
or is it just me?![]()
Pretty much how I reacted to the bolded part of your comment, goddamn...
I agree. Why not make it a fighting game? Or an MMO?Calum_M said:No, don't end it. But actually make a new game.
Hear me out:
Rather than adding 8 bajillion pokemon, add about 50. Spend the rest of your time and money on an actually interesting story, improved overworld mechanics, etc.
Maybe you can enlighten me here, but when the hell has the entertainment industry ever been about anything other than making money? You can prattle on all day about games being art or whatever but the driving force behind every piece of art ever made (besides maybe cave paintings) is money.Cid SilverWing said:You fanboys...
It's shocking how topics like this bring out the worst in people and proves undeniably their ineptitude for dignity. The market needs to stop being based in milking everything forever. What happened to the times when entertainment actually MEANT something? You make a game or a movie and it becomes frighteningly popular, then 10 years later it's a cult following. These days, it's all unanimously about frankensteining old elements into something that's guaranteed to sell.
Wow this thread lasted longer then i thought... people getting into this enough to write essays. Is this ok for a compromise? Don't stop making games/merchandise/cards cause nintendo just won't. there money in it. But please, just stop making increasingly crappy looking pokemon. There's enough of them. the ratio of good/bad pokemon per new release has tipped heavily to the 'bad' end o the spectrum.Eclectic Dreck said:to long... did not read
*facepalm*Wintermute_ said:Um... dude? An old fart? I'm 16. yeah. yes i'm a little nostalgic if a 16 year old can be, but thats not the point. It just suck ridiculous balls. the black and white pokemon just look waaaaay to, well, stupid! How many species of animal are there in the world? thousands. hundreds of thousands. and they make a fucking rooster in pants or a grass snake made of plants (clever, huh?) that has leaves for limbs (snake with limbs?). Wtf?Bakaferret said:Wtf? Why? No seriously, why? This isn't some literary masterpiece that we have come to respect and love only to be bastardized by future generations. It's freakin' Pokemon.
THIS. Omg this. I mean, can you give me a more cohesive and thought out argument other than "It's not the same as it was in my childhood and I hate it!" First off, not true; it's changed, just not the way you wanted it. Second, who cares? Kids still LOVE IT, and for every new generation of Pokemon they invent, there is a new generation of kids that fall in love with it. Is it really that you hate where Pokemon is headed, or did you just grow out of it? Geez, I see no reason to this thread...if you got your way, the BEST that would happen is a bunch of kids would be upset because their beloved show/game is gone forever, and a bunch of old farts (hey, that's you!) will rejoice because "Thank God that game is gone! You kids don't understand, in the good old days, it was blah blah blah blah blaaaaahhh." So congrats on making little kids cry.Uber Waddles said:I hate people who make this arguement. Seriously.
Because its fairly obvious that you have not played Pokemon since Gold/Silver, and are judging hte new Pokemon based soley on the fact that the new ones arent the old ones...
IF you actually played the game, you would realize each generation adds new mechanics, and betters the game play (both metagame and competitive). Its not the old Rock/Paper/Scizors bs, its gotten a lot more complicated since then.
And the fact that they are constantly making new Pokemon, and finding ways to spark interest with old ones, as well as encouraging new strategies and gameplay styles, I fail to see how they are stagnant.
I mean, for fucks sake. Major mechanic innovations each generation isnt something we ask from ANY of our milked franchises. So when one actually does do it, its considered "milked" just because it has appeal to kids.
Usually I see two sides of a story, but no. In this case, no. If were bitching about innovation in a industry known for its lack of it, then you need to just go play whatever generic first person shooter you think "changed the face of the gaming industry".
some of the legendaries are just obscenely out of scope for the actual material. This is a freaking trading card game people. it's just about becoming the master and defeating the elite for, and catching an training your pokepals. it shouldn't have to save the damn world, let alone the universe. think yu-gi-oh. pokemon is nearing that
And honestly, what little kid is gonna be DESTROYED by pokemon ending? There's so much pokemon, they won't miss potenial new bullshit, and will not care that it stopped. are you just devastated after you finally beat a really good game like half-life or something? your disappointed that its over but the ride was more then worth it.
Let it end for the sack of how undeserving the new shit is of its popularity
