I use whatever I can. If I have a dollar bill on me, that will be my bookmark. Piece of trash? Book mark. A dog's ear? Poetic justice.

Usually bookmarks.

If one is unavailable, I just try to remember the general page range. "Okay, I remember that happening...the character said that...ah! Here I was."

I don't like folding pages in books.

What the hell are dog-ears?
Bending the corner of a page. Only heretics do that.
Yeah thanks but I sought of figured that out a while back, still gonna call 'em flippy-flaps!

Hotel room key. I have a bit of an obsession with walking out of any hotel I've stayed at with the electronic key. I have upwards of 200 of them...drives the wife batty.

I usually bookmark or put a piece of paper in between the pages, but if I'm lacking both I'll just dog-ear it.

Whatever's in my wallet, that doesn't need to be, becomes a bookmark sooner or later.

Yeah, I do everything. Usually when I use a bookmark, it gets wrecked, because I play with it while reading, but yeah.

I usually use something that's near me as a bookmark. Sometimes if I can't find something, I try to remember the page number, dog-earing the page bothers me a lot, unless the book is already batter to hell.

Usually my really old leather bookmark, can't stand dog-earing. Otherwise I use an old train ticket or a buisness card that I picked up.

I'm the kind of person who can go into a rage about a damaged book. Bookmarks for me, thanks. As thin as possible.
I also get upset about damaged books, and find myself physically incapable of throwing them away if I need more space. As a result, the local Oxfam is full of books I've read and disliked/grown out of.
Aye, there's a special place in hell reserved for people who actually throw away good books. I've had my bookcase collapse under the load two times now, but I won't throw anything away.

Random piece of paper used as a bookmark.
pretty much, I never buy bookmarks because I just remember what page I was on, but when I really can't be bothered with it, I just find a random piece of something and stick it in the pages

A one hundred dollar bill.

I use a twenty if I have to take the book outside the house.
(I'm actually pretty poor, but can still afford class!)

I will generally dog ear, but if it is a hardcover book I will use one of the dustcover flaps as a bookmark.

I used to use "bookmarks" (by which I mean any sufficiently thin thing that was lying around; actual bookmarks are a waste of money and paper), but I stopped and started memorizing where I leave off instead. I figure that's better for my brain.
