Well they really shouldn't have left it for soo long, Hype can only last so long, But in saying that I'm still hyped for it very much. I can't wait to see some of the new mods and kill some dragons etc.
I've been following Bethesda's development trail since they had a website showing wireframes of Morrowind. One thing that Morrowind's development has taught me is that Bethesda games take a while, and the best thing you can do for maximum sanity and game enjoyment is to just look at the forums once every few months for new developments with near disinterest. More than that and the hype train and slow info-drip will wear you down and compel you to make threads like this. Well that or the occasional "Skyrim is going to suck and this is why!" thread.

Me, I'm looking forward to a new Elder Scrolls game, and looking forward to the mods even more(once we get past the awkward "look! I made a nudity mod by re-texturing the underwear to look like deformed boobies!" mods).

I see absolutely no reason to suddenly lose excitement in Skyrim. Sure it's nothing 'new' as such but it's fucking Skyrim. If you enjoyed Oblivion and Morrowind, you will enjoy Skyrim. I see this as a result of overthinking and overhyping - perhaps certain aspects of it will not match up. But it's a videogame. The chances of you not enjoying it *at all* because the mathematics of it are STREAMLINED (I despise the phrase 'dumbed down' in this regard) are slim to none.

Never cared once they announced the changes in the way skills worked. I'll stick with Morrowind thanks.
The thing that killed your interest was the way skills worked? It seems like such an insignificant part of the game to me. "The grass in this game TOO GREEN! I hate it now."
In a RPG Skills are the biggest thing you can do well or eff' up, and they effed up everything. "Theres a skeleton there, let me just make this RIDICOLUSELY OVER POWERED BOMB OF FIRE AND DEATH, oh theres 40 of them, let me spam my singy song like Justin Bieber and kill all of them." Good god its like their trying to make the game too easy.
You haven't played it yet! How can you even consider saying that?!

I'm still hyped for it but truth be told, not as much as I was. I guess that's just how it always is for me.

I look forward to playing it, but I'm wouldn't say I'm hyped.
Will be nice getting a break from Dark Souls though. Getting tired of having my ass handed to me.

Games these days have about the same level of originality as games have had for the past two decades. Skyrim is also known as Elder Scrolls V. A fourth sequel in a series is seldom "original". Doesn't mean it won't be good, though.

Why did I see this coming...

First Uncharted, and now Skyrim.

Predictable Escapist is Predictable.

Hating on every newest upcoming release is suddenly considered the coolest thing to do nowadays.

If you don't want to get it fine, but please stop ruining it for others that are looking forward to it.

Ain't it the truth. I'm not really a hardcore gamer these days (not like I was 10 years ago), but I can't seem to walk away from Dark Souls. I really need to grind some slimes so I can upgrade my weapons... The Drake Sword is starting to feel like my broadsword did at the beginning. Skyrim will be a nice vacation.

Yep. Have been since I saw the teaser, and I've only gotten more giddy since. :3

On the whole, it seems like they're really improving things; while there are less skills, it makes it easier to develop the type of character you want. And doing away with attributes... well, my face scrunched up at hearing that, but that takes the often-scorned "Nuuuuu~, I leveled sneak too much this level! I don't need more agility!"-type qq'ing out of the game.

The only consistent gripe I've had since Morrowind, is the lack of spears, medium armor, and having armor reduced to fewer and fewer slots... but these are far from being a dealbreaker. As for the armor, it just makes it easier for the dev's to make cool suits of armor instead of individual pieces that they then have to make work with the rest without clipping and all that jazz... also makes it easier on the animators since they don't have to worry about rigging quite as much, I should think.

I can't go a day without hearing something or seeing a video/trailer. It's safe to say I don't really care anymore. I feel like I have played the game three times over already. I will still buy it, but I have zero excitement. They just waaaaaay over saturated their advertising, and it doesn't help that people won't shut up about it.

Was hyped, then got less hyped (trying to temper my expectations), now after hearing 2 guys on a Revision3 show talk about their very different experiences during a 3-hour playtest, I'm hyped again.

I'm hyped.
The dumbing down doesn't seem a lot like dumbing down to me. It made no sense to me in oblivion that if when I levelled I had the option of gaining say:

+2 intellect
+3 willpower
+2 strength
+4 agility

I could only pick three.

Surely if you spend ages leaping around on ledges and then studying something and then doing weights, you get more agile and more adept AND stronger. You just improve.
Also there were hardly any benefits of levelling up other than just improved base damage/carry weight etc - I like the fact that they've added perks.

In fact it seems like it will have just as many possibilities for people to min-max shiz as before. But this time it will involve planning out perks and the like rather than just picking specialisation skills.

I just want it to release so that fanboi's can go be fucking annoying about something else, i'm sick of every goddamn thread, or every fucking article on every CUNTING game website having some meta-dickhead herping and derping about "HOMG SKYRIM 11-11-11!!!!"

At least BF3 vs COD and Xbox vs PS3 arguments kept within at least semi relevant threads, I've seen skyrim pop up in threads about Metal gear solid Cosplay without any provocation or relevance.

Skyrim = Oblivion + Better engine + Dragons.

It's really that simple. All I want is walk into a beautiful world, collect swords, put them in display cases, fight giant creatures with them, collect flowers, observe astonishing sights, loot dead bandits, observe wolves chasing deer, pick flowers, travel alone over the ice on a dark sea while aurora slightly illuminates my path, bash in the skulls of the undead warriors I encounter like a barbarian, find peace in a wide-open tundra, traverse volcanic wastelands, look at leaves fall of the branches of a tree in autumn, sneak around in sewers, plunge a deadric arrow in the chest of a necromancer over a distance of 100 meters, cast a spell that encases people in blocks of ice and climb a mountain,

while doing so from the comfort of my own chair.

HELL F*****G YES I AM EXCITED.

I am quite Hyped for Skyrim still, but I did lose some of that hype for a while there. But I'm all hyped up again.

GTA was good,
It may interest you to know that the trailer for GTA V is being released in about 40 mins on the Rockstar Website. You might be excited for that, I know I am, possibly more than I am hyped for Skyrim.
