Isn't it illegal to miscarriage in Utah as well? And by that I mean miscarriage because of drug abuse or physical abuse - apparently staying with an abusive partner is a criminal act in this case. Wait, the guy who proposed this wants to "take America back to its Christian roots"? Excuse me if I'm wrong, but isn't freedom of religion a basic part of the Constitution? I guess it's true then, they'll let anyone into a political party and propose bills nowadays.

It's good to hear the one news broadcast about this is overwhelmingly and explicitly opposed to it and it seems to be just a lone politician.
I have no idea why anyone would come up with a law like this, perhaps a foolish and convoluted attempt at going around the Roe vs Wade ruling that protects abortion rights by simply widening their net from active abortions to all scenarios where a foetus/embryo/whatever ends up destroyed.
