This answer came easy to me. First off the circumstances don't quite apply for me; I always carry my CCW .38 Special with me whenever I am out at night. Secondly I have been involved in one martial art or another since I was six so I'm kind of lucky like that. But I would declare my self to him and tell him I have a pistol trained on his back/torso and am ready to shoot him if he doesn't stop or if he tries to run away. I would then call the cops, I have them on speed dial so I don't get distracted in a situation like that and then detain him until the cops arrive I would also stay by the intended victims side while we waited.

Murder is worse than rape because you cease to live, but rape isn't exactly low on the list of things people can do to become scum. Either way, the assailant is going to go to jail.

But then again he has a hostage. He will simply hold her hostage as you take your sweet time announcing your presence to him. and if you do pull the trigger, well. Then your worse off than him because you did not do it in self defence.

I would help, and if you help, it's 2 against one, which is pretty good odds.

Without touching the logic failure in this argument; You do realize that it still means you have suffer through the rape, and that even if you feel like killing yourself afterwards, suicide really isn't as easy path as movies would like you think?

I'm a strong, fast guy with a fair amount of fighting experience against a guy who can't get laid on his own, I like my chances.

And for your more stupid comment: That "unknown sheep" is a human being. Rape, for some people, is worse then being killed b/c they have to remember that experience the rest of their lives and it effects everything in their lives. If that's your solution despite already having the rapist by your mercy, I'd say it's a situation where 2nd Amendment is at best neutral.

You do not have the right to execute people after civil arresting them. You wait for the police to take him into custody.

Besides, a clean shot in the head is an awfully pathetic attempt at revenge.

I wouldn't civil arrest him, I'd SHOOT HIM. Any warning could cause him to harm the hostage before I can get a clean shot.

Smart guy. Something i would be prone to do myself if i was in the mood for it. Id rather have a laugh, tell him to vanish or id call the cops. At most id do a stop kick but considering my options running is what i do best.

Since I wouldn't honestly ever really know how I would act in such a situation, I'm gonna say I would try to scream at the rapist that I'm calling the cops. He would either keep trying to rape, at which point I call the cops and try to stop him, or he would stop the rape to chase me, at which point I make like a tree and buy her (or him) time to run.

But the one thing I know I would never do, is leave them behind. To let someone suffer because of my own cowardice would be something I would never forgive myself for.
