In laymans terms, a bisexual with a fancy name.

In less laymans terms, it's being attracted to people regardless of biological sex or gender identity. It's also called "gender blind".

In not laymans terms, I'll quote the wikipedia article:

Wikipedia said:
Pansexuality, or omnisexuality, is sexual attraction, sexual desire, romantic love, or emotional attraction toward persons of all gender identities and biological sexes. Self-identified pansexuals may consider pansexuality a sexual orientation, and refer to themselves as gender-blind, asserting that gender and sex are insignificant or irrelevant in determining whether they will be sexually attracted to others.
EDIT: in joking terms, it's a person who is sexually attracted to kitchen implements.

I've experimented enough in my time, and I am long past the age where I am damn sure that I'm asexual. Still don't have any desire for anyone of any gender or sex.

Straight female I suppose. I've found women attractive before but I've never tried sexytimes with one and in all likelyhood I probably never will, so for all intents and purposes I'm straight.

What's it called if I'm a man but through some twist of fate I only ever allow my self to have sex with lesbians?

I would call that strait but I'm sure I'd just end up offending someone.

I put bisexual (male) but in practice I lean more towards women than men, although it depends on the context. It's not in set in stone

well you could just choose to be bi LOLOOOLOLOLLLOLLLOOLLOOL>
Was that an ironic joke or some invitation ? You said it depends on the context right ?

would you lean more toward an invitation little heartbreaker ;)
that was a joke of sorts but here's my number and maybe call me

oh and the context thing. basically I like both genders for different reasons to varying degrees.

As of my response, there are only a little more than 4% full-on homosexuals. Everyone else to some extent still retains instincts that would result in the continuation of the species. Well there's the 2% asexuals, but asexuality is usually a phase based either on outlook or time, and are likely to EVENTUALLY have a preference. At least, I think.

This is good to know, especially since the Escapist is mostly devoid of both prudes and Republicans and Christians. Gee, saying that, I'd think the number would be higher than 4.4% since that weeds out a good third to half of all potential respondants. Does that mean the number's closer to 3%, the stereotypical margin of error?

Not to mention we're now leaving out those older than 35 unless they're gamers.

Hmmm well it seems a fancy word for "don't care".

...kindof, if you wanted to word it as crudely as possible. Pansexuals definitely care about many aspects about their partners, it just so happens that the sex and gender of their partner isn't one of them.

[sup]1[/sup]: Well, SOME of them are going through a phase, and some are sexual just on an incredibly low level. But Asexuals definitely do exist.

[sup]2[/sup]: Yes, we do not have certain groups in the Escapist population, which is why this study is just giving an estimate of the demographics of the Escapist population as opposed to the general population.

I meant "don't care (about gender)", of course.

Straight female here, and I do like the men folk.

They are pretty awesome.

However, I've never had sexytimes with anyone, so at this point I'm not just virgin, I'm extra virgin.

I probably go well with pasta too.

Then yeah, that is a good summary. But I'll point out that along those same lines, "heterosexual" is just a fancy way to say "likes the opposite gender".

Does anyone find it interesting that only 12% of the male population of the Escapist is bi, homosexual or pansexual while 26% of the female population fits into those categories? I`m also surprised that there's about twice as many bisexual or pansexual people of each gender as there are homosexual, for some reason I had thought it'd have been the other way around

Anyways, straight male reporting in

EDIT: Just noticed I did that COMPLETELY wrong. I'll just drop out of my Stats course now to save me the trouble of failing it. Fixed the numbers

Not to speak badly of OP's poll but, didn't that stats class teach you about return bias?

Straight male here. The poll results aren't surprising.

Other, Namely:

I-Dont-know-what-the-hell-I-am sexual, but maybe Demisexual.

Namely, I am attracted to Women and even find it easier to make friends with girls rather than guys (strange considering my hobbies are videogames, guns, wars, explosions, cars/trucks, and anime), I have a girlfriend, I plan on getting married to her and having 2-3 children with her (preferably one of each gender)...........But I am completely uninterested in all but the most vanilla of sex, I dont WANT sex unless I am trying for a child, I find the very idea of sex even with my girlfriend/future wife unappealing, and maybe even alittle bit disgusting. But I like having G-rated sex [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GRatedSex] with her, that being that we lie on top of one another (fully clothed), and just hug eachother as tight as we can.

As for her, its basically the exact same as me right down to the letter.........with one exception. She is into yaoi fanfics of the anime she likes. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/YaoiFangirl] To which, my response is "Meh."

I've taken stats, and apparently I did poorer than my grade suggested. What is return bias? Also, what other problems did you find with my poll? Other than being limited to 8 options and being unable to poll for transsexuals, of course.

As for me, I found the number of bisexual males to be surprising.
