I'd have thrown it in there, but transsexual peoples have many diverse sexualities, and I seeing as we only had 8 options AND you could only choose one, I had to nix getting specific demographics on transexuals. I just had them put themselves in their prefered category. For example, a nice young transgirl who only likes guys put herself in "straight female" because she is a girl and prefers the opposite sex.
I don't see much wrong with the way you did it. Gender =/= sexuality, whether you're cis or trans shouldn't really matter for the purposes of this thread.
I know, I was mostly explaining for (potentially) laypeople. I'm glad you approve of how I did the survey, and i'm very open to criticism.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On another note, I'm actually not a huge fan of neverending superlong threads. I hope this thing either dies off overnight or dies off after I get another ~ 120 responses (at the current rate, that would get me about 100 girls, which combined with my ~1000 person sample size gives this "study" more... let's skip the stats lesson and just say accuracy).

Mind you, I really don't want this thread to be locked, seeing as I want the statistics we found to be kept around. I just want it to, you know, fade into oblivion. :p

Gender-Blind male here, known to some as pansexual. I choose gender-blind because I feel nothing from my frying pan's advances.

It's my sexual pride flag! I'm a PANsexual!
We'll be here all week, folks! *crowd begins sobbing*
I suppose my stance may not be fully formed since, as a mere 17 year old, I have not yet dipped my metaphorical feet into either/any metaphorical pool yet, be they male, female, or other. I would post a gender-blind flag, but I'm not sure what it is. Wikipedia says it is a purple circle, but google images says it is a head blindfolded by a rainbow...well, blindfolded by a rainbow blindfold!

You didn't have poll options for transfolk, but as we are part of the above community I'd point out there's a HUGE number of us here, especially considering how small a demographic we represent in the world.

Huh. 75% of the escapist declare themselves to be strait.

Kinda puts the whole "Start accepting the LGBTQ community you bastards" into perspective.

That above sentence comes from posts on "http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/6.398670-Why-Makeb-Hits-LGBT-Players-So-Hard" which have made me realise that the escapist is not the friendly place I thought it was.

Also, am I the only person within the LGBTQ community on this site that REALLY FUCKING HATES IT when people add extra letters? It just seems insulting through demeaning it. Making it a joke. Bleh. Maybe I am overly touchy.
I don't "REALLY FUCKING HATE IT" when people add extra letters, but it definitely gets a bit silly. Ergo the making fun of with the LGBTQIAAWTFBBQ.

Also, I don't find the Escapist community to be all that unfriendly of a place - we have out bigots, but most people are good, sane people. Just because most of Escapers aren't in the LGBT community doesn't mean that they aren't allies.

add another generic straight male here, looking forward to seeing the results.
For the most part, the results are in. Take a look at one of the analysis that Escapists have done. The three big numbers to take away is ~75% straight, ~10% female, surprisingly high bisexual population.
Yeah I didn't notice lol sorry its 45c here! Interesting numbers there.

Yeah, this was more just to specifically point out the contrast with the statement you had quoted about numbers in such a small community, not so much to like, bash you for not including us. I voted, BTW. I'm not trying to be bitchy OR pedantic, but it slightly astonished me how many are here.

So yeah.

Regarding the discussion above, what is wrong with being straight and thinking there is nothing wrong with the LGBTQ community folks?

There isn't, but I agree that it's weird how many people seem to think that there is a problem.

Darlin, I would love to do a spinoff gender identity thread and with your help I'd be glad to do so. Also, I did my best TO include transsexaual/transgendered people, I just didn't have a way to accurately collect data on them AND collect data on my main target - rough gender demographics and rough heterosexual vs non-heterosexual population.

Bloke over here, and I identify as pansexual.
However, I also border on aromantic, which kind of puts a damper on any potentia 'sexytimes'.
Relationships are just too complicated for me. Too much work. I can't really handle that level of intimacy.

The last person with whom sexytimes were had was my ex-girlfriend, but we broke up last June, so oh well. None for me. She's also the one who showed me that relationships just aren't for me.

straight female. Though I have nothing against girls, and am pretty sure that if the circumstances are right, there is a good chance I could have been interested in other options too.

I voted Other, while i have only had sex once with a women who was a bit older than me (lets hear it for drunken one night stands with strangers on your birthday ^^) i certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility of having an "experience" with another man or just completely jumping off the vagina train at some point in the future. Also i tried the kinsey scale after another poster mentioned it and i got a 2 which seems to back up my choice.

I tried the Kinsey Scale after you mentioned it.

Somehow I failed it. 0.o

F The test failed to match you to a Kinsey Type profile. Either you answered some questions wrong, or you are a very unusual person.

Male bisexual.

The results don't surprise me, even though there is an unusually high number of bisexual males - around 5% more than the latest official statistics. (at least those I could find)

Primarily, surprised that Bisexuals outnumber gay males & females by such a margin.

Also didn't expect it to be quite so Male & Straight, though I guess I shouldn't be too surprised at the former.

How curious. Only 50% of the women on this forum are heterosexual, and 80% of the males are as well.

I do wonder, how come there's so many homosexuals here, at least much more than national averages would assume. Maybe 'cause we're more liberal and tolerant on this forum?
I think its cause alot of the angry anti gay posters get banned here i'm heterosexual but everytime something like this comes up i always remeber what my first boss always said a holes a hole.
