For shits and giggles, I did some quick statistical analaysis on the polling results so far, breaking them down by gender. Unfortunately the small number of female respondants lends some unreliability to such things. Also, these results ignore "asexual" and "other" because no gender is applied to either category.
Anyway, of male respondants, 83.5% identify as straight, 13.7% identify as bi/pan, and 2.8% identify as gay.
Of female respondants, only 58.7% identify as straight, 23.9% identify is bi/pan, and 17.4% identify as gay.
I'm a little surprised that so few women on these forums identify as straight, although perhaps there is some bias in the form of women who are open about their sexuality being ones who have struggled with it more. Who knows! My original hypothesis, based on my own observation and people in my life, would have been that women are more likely to identify as bisexual than gay and men are more likely to identify as gay than bisexual, but it would appear that bisexuality is more common than homosexualitiy in both genders. Interesting! If anything, the opposite is closer to true: Of men who don't identify as straight, far more identify as bisexual or pansexual (83.1%) than homosexual (16.9%), whereas the difference is much closer in women who don't identify as straight (57.9% to 42.1%).

Straight male, recently out of a very long-term d/s-poly relationship as well as very short relationship.
I can admit when a guy is aesthetically attractive, but I just don't find men sexually interesting; women, however, I like in all the multitudes of shapes and sizes provided.

Thanks to me needing to lump the genders of asexuals and others, I'd need to do a rough fix to include them. The first is to assume that the proportions of males and females who identify as asexual or other matches the rest of the study, in which case there are 2 women who identify as asexual and one woman who identifies as other, which will not make a significant difference.
The other way would be to assume that the proportions of males and females who identify as asexual or other matches the proportions of those who identify as non-heterosexual. In that case, there would be 5 asexual girls and 3 "other" girls, which is also insignificant.
All in all, I wish I had 10 poll options instead of 8, and I hope to continue to get more data to work with.
