Personally, I preferred Sonic Adventure Battle 2. Except for Rouge and Knuckles. Those missions sucked. Robotnik, Tails, Sonic and Shadow were tons of fun though. So, do that again, and get rid of Knuckles and Rouge

No, really. Just go back to what made the series so good on the Genesis/Megadrive. I don't care how many dimensions it's in, I want it fast, I want it linear, and I want it with a minimum of plot development or characters or anything that wasn't part of Sonic 1, 2, and/or 3.

The other day Cat and I came up with some good ideas while watching someone play Unleashed, such as giving sonic a weapon or attack mode incorporated into his speed or history(knives or rings) or a cheetah villain(who is mad at sonic for being faster than him). But the two best ideas we came up with is playing as Knuckles instead of Were-sonic(He's a pre-existing bad-ass character suited for brawling, what with his bitchin' spiked gloves) and making Sonic somewhat less douchebag... Being an exceptional dork who insults and makes fun of everyone else will not get you very far in real life, yet in spite of this Sonic still has people feebly trying to defend him with the excuse that it's not his fault, just "bad writing"(Huh?).

But yeah, Knuckles would've been much, much cooler for Unleashed. I might even have bought it then.

SOME PROPER HUMOR! Like for instance. Sonic Heroes. When you leave the characters alone they say stupid one liners that just arent funny in the least. Can we maybe have some subtle disney-esque pop culture jokes in it's stead?

Fire Sonic Team's writing staff and replace with room of monkeys. No this isn't a joke.

Open world? No. It won't work.

Get rid of plain uncontrollable speed and replace with the old 'momentum' system.
Old style badniks please. These new 'mecha-type' robots are snores-ville


Frankly I just want the old sonic 'charm' back again, none of this half-assed badassedry mixed with 'pander to children' writing and lameness...I mean come ON.

Levels less about story and more about mindless travel fun. Thats what sonic was all about, he doesn't need a reason to traverse every area of a place, he just does. He's like Mario. They /could/ both walk up to the castle/fortress of doom, super quick and end the game in a flick of the finger but wheres the fun in that? The games are originally about Robotnik or Bowser greifing the living hell out of them both by setting up traps every where.


I could go on for pages, about whats wrong with this franchise but does Sonic team care? Psh no. So really this is just a nice long rant on my part.

Back to Topic: Sonic Advance 1 (GBA...as far as i remember the second one sucked) and the daytime stages of Unleashed were good, build on that. Always stick to 2D, on Rails Gameplay, so there are no compromises to be made with cameras and, especially, speed.

To OP: Why are you trying to do something about it? Leave your fanboy rage out of it. I noticed that the only option you put up there which has anything to do with gameplay (which was what you were griping about in the first place) is the sudden reverse-evolution of 2D. How can changing the character set affect level design?

I was stuck between three and four, but ultimately chose four. The only 'human' who should be existing is Robotnik. (Although he's not even human, has human form.)

I would take whatever they did with sonic adventure 2 battle (my alltime favorite sonic game) and refine that formula instead of trying to throw out gimicks that really don't work *as in "wherehog" sections, open hub worlds, ect* I would also take out every single character in the whole lore of sonic with the exception of amy, sonic of course, knuckles, dr. robtnik, tails, and shadow. As those characters seem to have the most personality and charm to them.


I do realize that making sonic levels requires a crapload of assets to make a full level. So i suggust instead of making a sonic game for the nexxt generation, make it for Ps2 instead! Many, MANY, people own playstation 2's, and since you are not constrained with making everything with hd graphics *high poly counts, ect* You could build an insane amount of assets MUCH faster leading to MORE sonic levels and MORE fun.

And even if you did want to make it for the ps3 or 360, make it a *remake* of a sonic game that just boosts the resolution to 1080p but not the actual models and make it downloadable off of their online services.

Bottom Line: IF you can make a FUN 3d Sonic Game, not only will people NOT care about the graphics, but they will praise your name from all around the world for finally reviving the series.

Junk him and get to work on some Golden Axe or Shinobi or Streets of Rage or Shining Force or Phantasy Star OFFline or some other property that could actually use more games...or at least focus on Virtua Fighter and House of the Dead.

The Sonic Rush series proved that 2.5D platforming still works great for the series, but apparently those don't exist just because they're on a handheld. As for a console, the answer is almost as simple: There's TOO MUCH SPEED. If the fans could just stop whining about there not being enough SPEED in the 3D games, they might realize that the levels in the Genesis days (the later levels in each game) weren't especially fast-paced, it was more about precision than getting through as quickly as possible. But no, the audience demands "MORE SPEED," so we get these ridiculously linear levels that are either pathetically easy or artificially difficult. Breakneck speed simply doesn't work in 3D platforming, but people have seem to forgotten that breakneck speed isn't what the original Sonic series was actually about.

As for too many characters, I think the problem can be solved even more easily: Have the other characters' missions be optional side quests, not necessary for the completion of the story. Same with story, so long as they make the cutscenes skippable I could care less if they shove one in or not, so long as it's an excuse for good gameplay.

For the umpteenth time, neither of those names were ever canon. Eggman has ALWAYS been called Eggman in Japan. And there's no going "back" to Mobius because there was never any "Mobius" in the games, the only time they ever called anything "Mobius" was in the American-made cartoon shows.
