i'm a realist, thus a pessimist. i've also got optimistic qualities.

does that make any sense?
I was thinking something along the same lines. If things turn out bad then you got what you expected and if things turn out good then you can be pleasantly surprised. It's a fairly good deal.

I'm trying to be an optimist and it works out pretty well most of the time.

Pessimist.
I face the reality of life: That it's an unfair and unkind place that will only get worse as you go on. And then you die.

EDIT: But I'm also a Realist: You prepare for the worst but hope for the best.
This exactly.

I like to think of myself as an optimist, but I do have pessimistic qualities, like my hatred for politicians and anyone who appears in Heat, mainly because they're so famous, rich and popular.

So whhether I am one or not I'm not sure.

I'm an optimist, not sure why though cuz I also consider myself a realist. Is it possible to be an optimistic realist?
Of course, i guess, if you realise the flaws of life itself, thinking it could only get better.
That's what i am, at least.

I like to think of myself as a realist. And I try really hard to be. But even when logically I know something will turn bad/is bad I can't help but just convince myself it won't be so I think that I fall into the optimist catagory. I'm a profesional when it comes to denial.

But as far as that half glass full thing goes, when ever I get halfway through something I enjoy I am still happy because I know that I've got just as much left as I have already been through. It's when you get well and truely into the second half that you start to realise that you have less left then you've already had which is when I get sad. Seriously drinking lemonade shouldn't be so stressful but I love it so.

I'm more of a realist, but unfortunately in this day and age the line between realism and pessimism seems to be more blurred all the time.

I'm an Optimist! I'm normaly in a good mood.

I'd say I'm about 80% Optimist, with the remaining 20% being a Pessimist (Sp?)

Ya same here, I look at the reality, but not so darkly, they need to make a name for someone in the middle like me, I hope for the best and look at how bad something could go wrong, and how something could go right. I can't really explain it really.

I assume everything will turn out well (this is mainly due to confidence is my own abilities) but plan as if it's going to fuck up so I'm normally fairly prepared.

So if things go wrong I normally just shrug it off and get on with things

If you are optimistic, you'll either have whatever you expected come true, or you'll be disappointed.

However, if you are pessimistic, you'll either have whatever you expected come true, or you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Life is full of surprises, it advertises nothing.
