Poll: Your own life - Or ten strangers lifes?

Firstly, I'd be trying to get everyone out alive- pick the lock on the door, smash the glass and move them to my side, have them pick their door lock, remove whatever device would inject me with the poison, disable the flame making device(s)... anything we could think of.
Assuming that absolutely nothing worked- no idea. What if I don't like the guys? What if it turns out they're not the best of people? What if they'd prefer I live? Or, what if they're wonderful, charitable people who promise to pay my loved ones debts and take care of them the rest of their lives? Until I'm in the position, I don't know. (It's not likely, but I pray it never happens...)

When you are in the position your bodies automatic will to live kicks in. You could be the nicest person on the planet but the instant that will to live kicks in you would disembowel on command. quite frankly, from what i have read most of the people on this forum are heartless jerks. call me a pushover, but my life is not better then anyone, barring child molesters and rapists. given, if they were criminals, like serial killers and the people in above sentence, i would push it in a heartbeat and laugh maniacally. however, seeing as they are complete strangers, no, no i would not kill them. though my family and love ones will be destrought, i will have known that i have done the right thing, and IF THERE IS A HEAVEN, i will be invited into it happily.
Am I assuming it's not a trick? That I push the button and I go free?

Seriously though, in the situation as OP described it, I would hit neither button. You gave no motive for hitting either one.
Now if you were to say that I would be trapped in there if I didn't hit the button, I would try to break the glass and hopefully the strangers would get the idea and help me break the glass. Then I would have them come in my room and activate the fire thing. If the glass was magic and me and ten strangers somehow couldn't break it, I would shout to them what the situation was and tell them to try and break the fire making machine. If the fire making thing was magically unbreakable and/or the glass was even more magic and somehow 100% sound proof, I would try to break the poison emitters. If everything in the room was unbreakable and I couldn't get out of there without killing the 10 strangers, then I would wait as long as possible for help, and if there was no other method of survival, I would kill them with no remorse.
Now stop making threads like this and take an ethics course if you REALLY enjoy this type of pointless banter.
Sorry that your life isn't great, but some of us have shit to do besides dying for no reason. Better is subjective, and in order to do anything with your life you have to act as though your life is "better" or at least more important. Killing for survival does NOT make you heartless.dowdpride said:

Although, if I was guaranteed to find and track down and bust/kill the bastard who set it all up, then I'd consider killing the 10 people. Because with a setup like that, it's probably not the first time the guy did this. So 10 people die, but then he doesn't get anyone else ever again. But I'd still feel like crap.
