Watch Gundam 00 Season 2, if your 18+ you will have to deal with the immaturity of the characters. Its obvious the show is targeted to 13-18 year old Japanese youth. But all the same i cant stop watching it. Also, bleach,a must see, they keep improving their drawing techniques every season, with the intro becoming a beautiful sequence of drawings, ala Samurai Champloo. and for a slice of life anime, watch onegai teacher / twins. I feel a bit...girly..watching it, but its one hell of a good story, with a happy ending. Hey, every guy has a soft side?(my belly)

Monster - it has great characters, great plot, great animation, great pacing, great everything. I'd recommend this far above all the other anime mentioned (except azumanga daioh).

I don't know if you'd be into it, but I think Clannad(and Clannad After Story) is fantastic. It's the first thing I've seen in a while that's made me actualy give a crap about not one, but two characters. There's basicly no action, though.

I almost got through this topic without Monster getting mentioned but someone just beat me to it. That is one anime I can't recommend highly enough.

You should also watch Paprika. It's a one off movie, very good, and from the same creator as Perfect Blue and Paranoia Agent. It may not exist in anime form, but you also owe it to yourself to read Eden.

I also highly recommend Planetes. A great series, and it's refreshing to see a more realistically grounded interpretation of space travel in an anime.

Haibane Renmei: a nice "picturesque" anime. In a way, I'd think of it as a more relaxing, brighter version of Serial Experiments Lain.

I don't. Read an American comic, like iron man, or the watchmen. The art is better and the stories aren't all about only robots, sex, or ninja's.

Not one person mentioned Fate/Stay Night, It's one of the best animes out there. If you've seen I am the bone of my sword, steel is my body and fire is my blood... this is where it came from.

Possibly it's a line from the official translation. I watched the fansubs by Eclipse when it was airing.

You must see this anime. It practically ruined other action animes for me because of its incredible battles and great storyline.

I'm going to recommend Wolf's Rain (oddly enough, it has no character called Wolf and not much rain).

It's very weird and occasionally heart rending. But if you like Wolves it's right up your alley.

(English dub is better IMO)
