Okay, why is it that every time anyone mentions the PS3 and it's price and why you should buy one and all that crap, people always say "Blu-ray isn't enough incentive for me to buy one!".

HELLO PEOPLE! It shouldn't be an incentive in the first god damn place! Sure, Blu-ray is a nice addon to a solid package, but unless you're hunting for something that specifically caters to your need for Blu-ray then why should you care if it comes with Blu-ray?

In other words, does someone who wants to watch blu-ray movies care if the PS3 can play games? No, they only care about the quality of the blu-ray movies they're going to buy for it. The games are an addon.
Do you, someone who activates in games, care about blu-ray movies? I'd assume not, so why are you, someone who plays games that you like, care about an addon that you will probably not use?

If you are a gamer, games should be first on your mind first and foremost. Does the PS3 have games that you want? No? Then don't bother. Yes? Then go for it. Blu-ray, media storage, everything else should be secondary and not influence you unless you are;
A) Looking for a multimedia hub
B) Hoping to actually use any of those
If you aren't going to use them, look at the games and see if you are interested in them.

EDIT: Though after reading your post more clearly, I may have jumped the gun on what you were talking about. This post will more or less be directed to everyone.

BWAHAHAHA...

Sony, sony, sony... When will you ever learn?
Learn what exactly?

You know I remember people giving them the same shit with the PS2.
That may be true, but you have to admit, the chart does seem a little like sour grapes. Nothing on it is untrue, but you don't see anyone else doing it, or I certainly haven't.

I don't know about the 360 not offering good value. You can pick up a 60gig Premium with 3 big, recent games (Gears of War 2, Pro Evo Soccer 2009 and Fallout 3) for £189 (about $286) if you know where to look. Phooey.

How dare you agree with me, sir; this is an Internet forum! We can't have that!

Oh yeah?

Then me, a PC user will use my freedom of speech to slam every console on the market for being inflexible and offering shoddy 4 year old over priced technology.
Ah, the internet, such lovely ironies populate the digital world.

So MS could basicly just slam back with "Sony doesn't offer HD out of the box" and win the arguement presented here. Also HD over WiFi? Good luck with that. WiFi is useless in this HD generation.

I'm quite happy with my set up. At current market price, I have spent £180 on a 20gb hard drived console with a VGA cable (and scart), which leaves me an additional £120 to spen on games before I reach the lowest priced PS3. I don't mind a couple of wires around the place (at least can wait til next console generation) so I can successfully use the media extender element to watch anything off of my pc. I'm feeling pretty good about my purchase at the moment, and I don't particularly want to have to buy a £300+ new television just to see the benefits of my new console. SOny need to learn that the vast majority of people simply aren't in a rush to upgrade to HD (though technically, with my 360 attatched to my monitor, I'm there).

And speaking of Sony's problems, Microsoft's X Box 360 campaigning during PS 3's launch was pure Take That glory. Highlights were crashing Sony's live broadcast launch party held on a ship by parking another ship in the background with a large X Box 360 poster on the side, and Microsoft employees offering chairs for people queueing up for game stores on launch day, each chair decorated with an advert for a website where you could read Microsoft's sympathies for people having to wait in rain when they could have just played a 360 ages before.
Sorry, only just read this, but this is pure class. Take that Sony's advertising division with your commercials with people in some kind of mansion that has nothing to do with any gameplay.

Three words...

"I'M PLAYIN' NUT!"

The PS3 reminds me of Henry VIII. They both spent huge amounts of money earned by their predecessor, with little return in the field they are in (Henry VIII ended up gout-ridden and fat, the PS3 served to make Blu-Ray more popular). Their predecessors were the most powerful of their time, and they will both be remembered for their shortcomings. Also, Henry VIII lied about not being able to put SixAxis inside him, but by God, he finally did it.

I think it's just sad that Sony is really acting like this.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, ADAPT TO THE SITUATION!

The Playstation 3 was good on paper, but if it doesn't work out in life, ADAPT! Don't trick yourself into thinking if you leave it alone long enough, it'll beat down the competition. It won't.
