This move is clearly to keep the muslim fundamentalists on side for the election which he sees as more important than international approval or the rights of Afghan women.

Well, they aren't really Muslim - there just tribal arseholes who are still living in the BC era. A real Muslims, even the fundamentalists, are meant to treat women as people. The fundamentalists would however insist on implementing the old rules on women, but those don't include starvation nor forced sex. These tribal 'Muslims' pay lip service to the religion, but ignore what they are meant to do by it. And then when they act up, they can claim its 'there religion' rather than their sexist oppressive customs.

Are you kidding? None of that is even similar. We don't force people to eat unhealthy food or be homeless, pollution is a worldwide problem and even if half of New Orleans was "still a pile of rubble", what does that have to do with anything?

Yes he is the lesser of two evils, its just the way it is. We are there to prevent the taliban from regaining a foothold in that country. I think its the right thing to do, theres a lot of work to be done still.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.
