Biggest video game let down of my life? About 75% of the post are picking Current gen games but I doubt they are they worst. I could be mistaken. As for your topic, PN.03. That was one of the few games I was wanting and waiting for and when I got it, it put me to sleep. It was very boring.
The percentage of current-gen games being posted doesn't suprise me all that much... I can't remember many disappointments dating back to the PS2/xbox & previous consoles (and older PC games)
- that said, I didn't buy quite so many games back then.

And to keep the stats up, I'm gonna go with one from last year...

Prototype: Was expecting it to be amaaaaaazing after the lengthy delay to fine tune & polish it (or whatever their excuse was), but kick-ass powers aside, the missions were poor & it looked glitchy as f**k, because it would freak out because too much was going on.
Complaints aside, I do hope they make a second one that addresses all the failings of the game.

I would have to agree with Fable 2. The co-op being tied to a single camera ruined my year when I first played it online.

Brutal Legend is one. It's a great game, but my hopes were just too high. It was my favorite genre of music, the singer from my favorite band, and the creator of one of my favorite games combined.
That and SSBB. That game came out on my birthday and I saw that as some kind of sign that it would be fucking awesome. Still good though

Mine would have to be Soul Calibur 4. It just felt like a huge downgrade from the last game. The story mode from the previous game was pretty good in my opinion. It told you the story as you went along, and let you choose multiple paths to take through the story. This encouraged you to replay that character's story to choose a different path to see what would happen. If you chose a very distinct path and never lost a battle, you'd even get to fight a secret boss. In Soul Calibur 4's story mode, the story wasn't really told and was very short. You fought five battles, got a cut-scene, and it was over. That was a bit disappointing. I thought the Chronicles Of The Sword mode from the previous game was an interesting concept, and thought they might expand upon it in this game. But instead, it was replaced with The Tower Of Lost Souls. Which is basically just a bunch of special condition fights. It was alright i guess, but it wasn't all that much fun. The game just felt so rushed and incomplete. It could have been a lot better.

I can't really remember the biggest letdown ever, but a pretty big one was Assassin's Creed. I remember following this game since it was first hinted at, when there weren't even screenshots or many details. I was just waiting feverishly for it and I ended up not even buying it. I slowly lost interest as it came closer to being released and gave it up when the reviews went out. Now, I'm actually considering getting it, to see what I've missed out on and to follow the story into Assassin's Creed 2, which I will probably buying when the price gets cut. But still, it was a huge disappointment.

(And yes, I've tried it out, for about an hour, I just didn't buy it or dug into it).

Earthworm Jim 2.

I LOVED EWJ it was such a random game, the creators must have been high from start to finish.

But EWJ2 felt really forced, less difficult and way too tame in it's humour

Call of Duty: World at War.

It was a good game, but whenever I got close to any enjoyment in the single player game I would get killed by the irritating grenade spam. Even without the grenade spam the game was doing it wrong and trying to make you shiv a git about the characters but I found it hard to give a flying fuck about any of them. The big surprises at the end of each of the campaigns were so predictable and I had such a disliking for the Marines that I wish it would just have happened at the start of the game.

There was just so much potential here for a really enjoyable game which shows that World War 2 is still explorable and the large scale battles in the game (Outside the Reichstag, The parliment area ect) were personal highlights but all of this goes unappreciated because of how high my blood pressure must have been during the experience.

As for multiplayer... well, it was CoD2 with a rank system.

So disappointed, mainly because there was so much to be enjoyed.

Everyone has to have been let down by a game in their life time. Maybe once, maybe twice.

Mine personally, was Fable 2. After playing Fable 1 and saying "wow, this is a pretty good RPG" I started thinking about what they could improve on. Then when trailers and gameplay footage's starting to come out, I was like "HELL YES!" it looked like everything I hoped for. I bought it the first day it came out, and started playing it right when I got home. I very soon discovered that It was the same as Fable 1, only sucked more. The story only took me 6 hrs to beat, and since all the money you would need to get the better weapons barely come from the quests anymore, and the Arena gives you half as much money as the first one, I had to rely on the jobs, which became boring, really fast, And there is no variety in the Job mini games, it is all the same controls. wait for the arrow to hit the green, press A, wait for the arrow to hit the green, hit A. But the biggest let down of them all, was I killed everyone in the game, just by using my lvl 5 lightning.

Any way, my Paragraph got waaay to long, so now, what was the biggest video game let down, of your life.

I don't wanna hear "search bar" because my computer froze the last time I used it
This this this a million times this. I just quit halfway through when I realised it was the exact same game as before then I picked it up 6 months later and whored out on achievements

I agree on Spore. That game had a lot of potential, but basically I think they were too ambitious and had to dumb it down too much to make it work.

They tried to make a Sim Universe / Sim Evolution game and ended up with a sculpture / art program with side games attached.
And even in the sculpture/art direction they failed to make anything more sophisticated than Mister Potato Head. Hence why I will also go for Spore. I had so many dreams and plans and ideas...they all ended in shambles. I made a reasonable AT-ST though.

Why does everyone always choose such current games in these threads, the OP said LIFE. For me the biggest disappointment immediately made me think of Breath of Fire 4. I grew up with and loved the Breath of Fire series, but I couldn't put more then a few hours into that piece of shit.

Prototype comes to mind. That game was a half-finished mess. Anybody else remember the 'collapsing building' animation that was reused about 12 fricking times?

I would say spore. I generally like games, no matter the flaws(unless they are really bad, like that dark void game controlling like wank) but spore had more hype than call of duty 4: modern warfare, call of duty: world at war, call of duty 4: modern warfare 2, halo 1 2 and 3, but it was really just an above average game for me. but then again, I'm the kind of guy who enjoys making stuff in the creator for hours, just to see if I can make a zebra.

spore, the early, realistic versian of the game looked so much better. now we are stuck with this terrible cartoony version

and NiGHTS i had hopes that if they ever made a sequel to the first, that it would be good.

i was very wrong indeed
