11. The bow system needs no tweaking, because when you get your skill to 100 in it, you pretty much can just toy with enemies because you automatically paralyze them or knock them down with every other hit you land, so to whoever was saying the archery was weak, apparently you never maxed your skill out, so go back and do that. I'll wait...... Done? Good. Now don't you agree that the bow skill is just fine how it is? Lolz...
So "if you play with the bows long enough they stop sucking". There's no reason for you to use them at lower levels you'll never get it at a high level.
7.Vampirism was more of a hinderance than a privelege. Fix that or omit it completely. Leaving it in the game like it is is just lame.
It's supposed to be a disease. Also, if you do things during night you will get pretty pretty big bonuses. It's a different play style.
1. ALL of the Empire. Not just Tamriel or Morrowind, but the whole empire. Vvardenfell, Black Marsh, Tamriel, Morrowind, Skyrim, Hammerfell, Sommerset Isle, the whole thing. Maybe even Akavir, if the place is still around. Elder Scrolls V is going to be regarding the ENTIRE empire and its possible downfall, so let's see everything.
Might be feasible by the time elder scrolls V comes out but we might need to wait till 6 or 7.
-2.1: The "Conversation Pie". This needs to be outlawed. It was just annoying and frankly asinine.
So agreed. It wasn't even a challenge. It was so simple.
-3.3: Make spells scale damage/healing. This way you get one spell, it lasts the entire game, and you don't have to keep wasting gold to buy new spells. Yes, keep the diverse ones like in Conjuration for summoning different creatures, but make them scale with your skill. Like at Conjuration skill 20, your Summon Skeleton gets you a Skeleton, but at 40, you get a Skeleton Guardian. Or your Illusion skill will determine the amount of visibility reduction you get from a Chameleon spell.
I like this idea. Definitely make it so one spell lasts the entire game, if it absolutely needs to cost money make it so you could buy upgrades from the guild.
14. The encumberance system. When you're over-encumbered, you can't even MOVE? That is crap! Who designed that, and why has he not been sacrificed to the volcano god?!
true but it makes sense.

Why not just set it so you're crawling or walking incredibly slow?

Don't you start to get slower before you absolutely can't move? Also, that isn't logical.

I'd like to see an interesting game.
This.

I'm not that impressed by open world games. Sure, if you want to make an open world, fine. Now give me something interesting to do in it.

Dwarves would have made is a whole lot better...

What do I want from TES V? Morowind II. People say Daggerfall was even better, but I can't get it to work on my computer.

1) Magic system revamp. (Rather than buy increasingly stronger fireball spells, we should buy ONE fire spell which will increase in power as skill goes up. It would start out as an "on touch" spell and when you hit 50 skill, it could become an "on target" spell instead. Then at 100 it could have an AOE effect as well.)

2) Revamp of the horrible leveled loot system including lots of hand-placed loot. (If all the loot in a dungeon is randomly created and placed only in treasure chests, you will do just as well spawn-raping the same dungeon every 3 days than searching around.)

3) Revamp of the slightly less horrible leveled enemies system. (Enemy levels should be picked randomly from a set min and max for each dungeon. It should NOT reference player level at all.)

4) Quests that come from sources other than NPCs such as books. (I think one of the main reasons games like this have fewer and fewer quests is because it takes a lot of time and resources to do all the voice-acting. If there were other sources for starting and completing quests, we could have that much more to accomplish in-game.)

5) Emphasis on gameplay over graphics. (They look good enough already. Go ahead and make some improvements, but more time and resources should be diverted into gameplay.)

6) Add some puzzles. (Most Bethesda games don't have a lot of puzzles that require actual brainpower. Any challenge in thier games comes solely from combat and lack of gear/supplies that must acquired through questing or exploration. Even if they don't want to scare away some players with thought-provoking quest lines, at least give us some mental challenges in side-quests or during exploration.)

7) No forced main-questing. (Oblivion FORCED you to follow the main quest. It was not possible to delay the main quest while staying in character. Only VERY specific characters would light-heartedly dismiss the constant cries of immediate and certain doom that can only be avoided by non-stop progression through the main quest.)

Okay, Here's my list...
Return to the armour style of morrowind, with pauldron, clothes+armour etc.
Have more funny little quirks, as it lost a lot of Morrowinds charm (Guy in river cause his pants were stolen ftw).
At the end of Oblivion they talk about it being the end of an age, so I reckon it should be either about the Empires falling into disrepair, or set in the future. But not too much continuity, as all the otheres had standalone plots.

wow 13 pages thats absolutely ridiculous i had no idea there were that many TES nerds here, but im one of them so don't get all pissy with me

my biggest problem with Oblivion is that in Morrowind i felt connected to my character and the storyline, and i didn't get that immersion effect from Oblivion

also Morrowind was much more customizable and in-depth and managed to do that without feeling like you had to micro-manage every detail, Oblivion felt less custimizable and
in-depth and somehow managed to do that AND make me feel like i had to micro-manage everything

Morrowind was also much bigger, and the NPCs felt deeper, even with the stock-still straight-ahead stare thing that plagues Bethesda, and Oblivion felt smaller, mostly because the landscpae never changed, its always rolling hills, Morrowind had mounatins, snow, hills, plains, deserts, swamps, Oblivion was to generic, and the NPCs in Oblivion were just plain uninteresting

please do not hate-mail me, Oblivion was a fine game. it just seemed to me like Bethesda took a step forward on things like gameplay and graphics and traded that for a step backward on things like immersion and customization

in short i want Morrowind with Oblivion graphics and voices

as head of the Thieves Guild i want to feel like the Godfather and actually control the workings of the guild, wend people on missions to still special items for me that kind of stuff

as Head of Imperial Guard(assuming its a joinable faction in TES 5) i want actually responsibilities, maybe have criminals randomly spawn in major cities and i need to capture them, or give me exp. bonuses for subduing and bringing bandits and highwaymen instead of just killing them, you know, make me feel like an actual officer of the law

in the Mages Guild and Fighter's Guild i want to be able to assign people to follow me, or maybe allow me to assign them certain side-quests and based on there level, profession and random chance either they complete the quest or i lose it, because honestly if im head of the Fighters Guild, supposedly one of the most powerful, influential people in Tamriel, if i want information and the guys says he'll give me the info if i retrieve some artifact from a cave im not gonna do it myself, i'll tell my lackeys to get it for me

and as a last plea to Bethesda please, PLEASE let me actually command people when i rank up in guilds, i really think that taking over the Empire by becoming head of the Theive's Guild, Fighter's Guild, Mage's Guild, Assassin's Guild etc. would add some serious immersion and a whole new aspect to the game

wow didn't mean to go on like this, sorry

There is a dwarf mod around somewhere for oblivion, I have never played it, just read about it... But i dont know, I always got the impression they where long gone and dead.... I could be wrong..

any this is a loooooooooooooong topic so sorry for repetion...

Break up the weapon classes again-
I found it stupid that I could use a dagger and a claymore with the same skill :| I guess this was done so people could use more weapons but I dont know, but axes as blunt weapons? I guess no matter how you do it you are always going to have rather to many or not enough....
I know why they have only 4... but I guess I would like to see more
oh and agree they need polearms back!!

Break Lock-
Oblivion was easy to pick locks and you could more or less do it from any level... but I think it is a big silly im this big tough guy and cant break into a simple box... I HAVE AN AXE WHY CANT I HACK INTO IT... Yeah the skill wouldnt be usefull when in a city trying to steal stuff (because of the noise it makes) but in a dungeon should be allowed. Obviously you would have magic sealed ones that can be broken into, extra storng ones, or can only be lock picked etc... and even chests that the lock is screwed so the only way to get it is to break it open.

being able to throw stuff-
wouldnt it be grand to have a rat come at you and you throw a brick at its head... I dont know, having throwing weapons seems like a normal thing to have, but being able to throw just about anything and do some damage would be awsome! How much damage and how far you throw it would depend on weight, size, strength, skill etc. Could even have a easy side quest where you have to throw and object in a castle window or something?

Those are the ones i couldnt see from quickly skimming over it....

Basically, more and better should be their design mantra right now. Improving the third person animations would be phenomenal, and more dynamic landscapes (which due to the way Fallout 3 turned out I'm pretty certain they've figured out), but really just putting more content in, refining it a little more, and crafting a story and world within the Elder Scrolls universe that is interesting enough to warrant devoting your soul to ES5 until doomsday or the next game (something that Bethesda excels at).

More immersion.

Less generic fantasy bullshit.

Less DICKING with pre-established lore.

MORE VOICE ACTORS... I'd even be content with text boxes for lesser NPCs.

Less concentration on GRAFIX!!!1 and more on story, depth, role-playing and re-playability.

INTERESTING CHARACTERS.

Less repetitive combat.

Get rid of the fast travelling, as it makes the world feel incredibly small.

Better physics engine.

More interesting spells.

MORE dialogue options and quest branching.

Bring back the old armour slots.

More weapons and armour. Make Daedric armour and such RARE, like it used to be.

Some other stuff I haven't thought of.
Here we have somebody who probably didn't play Morrowind. Without fast travel, it takes about 2 weeks real time to walk from one place to another. Admittedly fast travel did make the world feel small but to me it was infinitely preferable to trudging through the mountainous areas of north Vvardenfell looking for a small village which I found before but have apparently misplaced during the course of my adventures.
Silly *****, of course I played Morrowind. I still do. And it takes less then an hour to go from Vivec to Sanctus Shrine, depending on your speed, so stop exaggerating with that two weeks real time crap. Or maybe you're thinking of Daggerfall? Anyway...

What is with all this "Bawww i haet travelling places on foot! it r hard!!" dross? It's a sodding open-world adventure game, if all you're doing is fast travelling from A to B then you're doing it wrong. Yes, yes, I know you can choose to simply NOT USE FAST TRAVEL in Oblivion, but that is like staying home and eating instant noodles instead of walking up the road to a nice chinese restaurant: The temptation to simply be a lazy bum becomes to great, and before you know it, it is the only way to get around, and the game suddenly isn't an adventure any more.

Why not use a happy middle ground? Like the Silt Striders from Morrwind, Mages Guild teleportation or even those damn redundant horses from Oblivion? That way, travelling the distance between major cities becomes easier and the repetitive walk between them is cut out. And yet, the player is still forced to explore the rest of the land and see the world in all it's bloom-filled beauty, find the hidden treasures, and all that typical adventurer nonsense that we old-fag gamers so love.

Kids these days...

okay... everyone is going to hate me for this but...

I'd like to see TES V to be a HUGE MMORPG... because i think an rpg series like TES could actually pull off an MMO that wouldn't be close to WoW...

put in EVERY PART OF THE WORLD! like how Morrowind your just stuck on that island... and in Oblivion I figured out that the island was SURROUNDED BY MORE LAND... that would be awsome... make the entire world... and when you pick a race you pick it from the map (argonians from black marsh, high elves from elswhere? (i think), red gaurd from hammerfall, etc.)...

i loved the music to Morrowind and Oblivion... there's no way they are allowed to fuck up the music for the next one... but it has to be MORE EPIC (sorry... i don't think i can edit that sentence and get the same meaning...)

hmmmm... i'd also like to be able to climb all the way to the top of the tower... the highest it goes is like... a couple of floors i want to be able to go to the top and jump off... just to see how long it takes... and hey! that could be an experiment! drop a big stone and a lighter stone from the top of the tower and see which one lands first (now if a smart person is reading this DON"T RUIN THE EXPERIMENT FOR THE STUPID PEOPLE! they'll figure it out sooner or later)

I have to say the traveling thing in oblivion was good and all... but that was a fun part in morrowind (this is probably just me...) and ya i know i could just walk there... but finding the routs with the gigantic bug things was fun...

Bring me back my got damn spears and unarmored you sons a bitches!! Just joking but really bring them back and also the levitation spell too. And I think you they should add a custom weapons system that you could upgrade. Like you start out with this normal sword and you can design it like the handle, blade, shape color etc, but it all depends on how high your armorer skill is, the higher your armorer skill the more you things you can do to your weapon like you can use different materials to create it add more than one enchantment and make it more durable and cause more damage. And heres something new I think the weapon that you create should have its on stats like how many kills you have with the weapon and a fame rating too. The more kills you have with that weapon the more famous your weapons becomes thus, making your weapon as lengendary as your character and people will know you as well the weapon you carry. I know this is a complex idea but I know Besthesda can handle it.And take out the fast travel its makes the world feel small. And also give the people a damn dragon will ya I see that on every blog lol
