Talk to friends, parents, anybody really if you fee l down, a problem shared is a problem halved right?

the advice given on here will probably be the best you can get dude, hang out with mates, find something you know will keep you amused, on the plus side if you int spending money on her then you can afford to buy more games ^_^.

In all seriousness though avoid contact with her, unless contact is absolutely necessary, delete her off your phone, delete her email address, and for the love of god don't make the mistake that i did and cling on to the hope of the relationship re kindling therefore giving you a further 3 months of misery.

Hope this helps dude if not Pm me and i'll talk to you if you want

Just think that you'll never be that happy again, so numb yourself with drink and lock all those angry emotions up deep within you. Congratulations, you're a bitter adult!

Acceptable Grieving Time: One time frame less than you were together with her (Months->weeks, Years->Months). Any more than that is Attention Seeking.
Tears allowed: Once, when you're finally getting her out of your mind.
Attempts to get her back: None
Attempts to drunkenly getting her back : Really none
She wants to get back with you: Only on your terms
At the end of acceptable grieving time: Hit on her next cutest friend as she's probably been waiting.

This also applies to women.

I would actually say avoid video games.

If you are not careful you will find too much comfort in them because games help you escape from the real world and allow you to immerse yourself in fantasy. If you are not careful you will just become glued to it.

Maybe going out with friends and meeting new people will help, take your mind of your ex by socialising with others.

Reading a lot of these replies has made me lose a lot of respect for Escapists in general.

One night stands and sleeping with her friend? Seriously?

What would you suggest, ecstasy and heroin?

There is not much you can do to get over someone except try and move on. Moving on is often difficult if you haven't "nailed a few" to get some tension out - mostly because people are likely to pour their emotions on the next woman to come along (and none of them want to be the rebound chick) rather than keep them to themselves. A few one night stands (or one movie dates if you are saving yourself) are good because you are getting back in the scene and you have no obligations.

The nailing the sister thing is more a revenge joke than a serious suggestion (well, I hope :D).

I wasn't too sad when my ex and I split up, but I did spend a whole weekend watching scrubs and eating hot-wings. Other than that just live your life and do what you feel like. The most important thing is do what you feel will help. Some people need to be completely submerged in sadness before they can move on, others deal with it subconsciously while pretending nothing is wrong. We all have different ways of dealing with things, you just have to find yours.

Edit: Oh, and it takes time.

I always feel better after I plant the illegal drugs in her desk at work. It's really the only way to get over somebody.

Screwing her best friend always helps. : )
this too, especially if you can get her to walk in at the moment of climax

edit: in case you were wondering, yes, I am a total dickhead

I wouldn't recommend getting a new girlfriend until you're over your last one. I think the best thing to do is to try and enjoy being single, being able to do the sorts of things you didn't before and focusing purely on yourself.

That depends entirely on what you see sex as.

If you prefer animal-like lust where you screw people just to get your rocks off then what you suggest is true.

If you prefer to connect with people and see sex as more than lust, then pointless random sex will just feel hollow.

In that situation I'd prefer to get over the emotional problem by doing something that doesn't make me feel just like any other animal.
