...

This post should be framed and hung on a wall somewhere, as an example to later generations.

In any case, I'm pretty sure that a consensus has been reached here, namely that most non-americans don't want looser gun-control laws. Yay!

(I'm sure that it's been pointed out already, but it's not that you can't get guns in Europe, it's just much, much more tightly regulated, and you can't have guns simply for self-defense. For example, after the first (and only) school shooting in the UK, handguns were banned completely, because they serve no purpose other than to kill people (as opposed to rifles, shotguns etc, which are used in hunts))

P.S, If you use Firefox, there's a spellcheck in these forums, I strongly advise it.

um i have a REAL question why do you euros and aussies hate guns so much all you ever say is there bad or there a tool of war or crime comes from guns why dont you give a contenplative anser or a positive one for once

i have one i personally collect guns becaus of there look, history, and decorative ability

please include your country
While I appreciate the history and whatnot associated with weapons your question is a bit silly. I mean what else are guns for? I'm not going to hate a lump of metal for it's looks if it's purpose is just. Weapons are meant to kill people. Just like swords, which I quite like. Oh and I'm English, if you can't be bothered to check.

So, are you saying that everybody in America that has a gun owns it as a purely historical/decorative piece, as opposed to, say, something with which to put holes in other people?

You do have paintings in the US, right?

Maybe you could do us all a favour and punctuate? Even if you can't spell I'm having trouble deciphering your posts. It's hard to argue with someone you don't understand.

Said it before, I'll say it again.
Gun ownership should come with responsibility, in all cases, no exceptions.
If you own a gun, store it in a cabinet, none of this guns lying around the house in wait, that's a recipe for disaster. Ammunition should not be kept in or alongside firearms. Remove the temptation for people to commit gun related crimes on impulse, and makes gun related accidents a lot less likely.
Really, it's not hard. People too stupid to store guns shouldn't be allowed to have them. simple

The problem with guns is not the guns themselves, it's the people behind them. You may be interested in the history and the aesthetics of the firearms, but not everyone is. The problem is that when people will inevitably abuse any sort of power you give them. So guns are bad, because people are idiots and will use them.

I guess technically the problem is the people in front of them. Those are the ones that tend to fall over and not get up again.

now that is a really(im sorry but really)ignorant comment is that what you think we americans do with guns just shoot people
Uhh... yes? If you're shaving with them your doing something wrong.

I'm baffled, seriously.

Did you read my post? Whilst I agree (slightly) that fine, whatever, you could treat a gun as an 'art object' (why not deactivate it first though?), I heavily, heavily doubt that most guns in the world, even in the US are used as such.
Mostly they are, as I said, tools with which to make holes in other people.

you have voided youre comment by not followin the rules of the question(do not try to argue give a real anser besides a weapon of war)
Wait, you mean we're allowed to ask people their opinion on something and then reject their honest answer simply because we told them they can't say that?

rads are your friend, I want to know why you like guns so much, and why you care so much what we think, but you're not allowed to give any answers that go against my way of thinking and you're not allowed to use the letter 'e'.

Honest answer why I don't like guns? Because they're a weapon designed to kill and I feel civilians have no real reason to use or own them. Say my answer is void if you like, but that is how I really feel about it.

If you want to collect historical guns then fine, but make it so they can't be fired so they can't be used to take a life.

I'm definitly happy that there are few guns around in germany. The ratio in which guns make any place save by preventing crime and evil gouvernment(not likely at all) is very, very small (especially if the gun is stored right cince than you can't acces them quick enough to prevent any crime).
On the other hand the risk of a gun around is insane. Accidents are possible (if stored right not so likely but that comes with the problem mentioned above), crimes on impulse two. But worst is that the chance of very unsuited people get hands on a gun and use it. If not by legal means than a whole lot of guns around does make it easier to steal one or get somebody ellse to buy the desired eapon for you.
