I always thought pubs were places you go to have a drink with your mates whilst bars were where you to get shit faced. If that's the case then I can understand being asked to leave from the pub (sexuality is irrelevant). I prefer bars myself.

That makes me sound like an alcoholic. I'm not, I just don't like the environment of pubs. Too traditional for my tastes.

...and I'm sure that bar probably has cctv, and probably plenty of witnesses were present.

So if this goes any farther, the truth will come out either way.

Until then, judge not.

This is... wrong.
If it were two female supermodels frenching, they'd be getting free drinks and cat-calls.
Why is it that people are this way?

I don't mind people kissing in public but if they insist on eating each others faces off then I would prefer they do it elsewhere regardless of sex or gender. As a bisexual I cannot and will not condemn any sexual behaviour between 2 people but it does make me feel a bit uncomfortable sometimes. The other night I was out with friends and 2 of them, a guy and a girl, just couldn't keep off each other which made me feel quite awkward.

Because its private property, we really cant force the pub owner to do anything legally. Remember those "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" signs? I guess maybe the community can step in and boycott/protest the bar but the victim don't really have a case here.
Do you think a pub would get away with kicking somebody out because they are black/white/asian based on a little sign behind the bar?

Those little signs have no legal foot to stand on and are certainly no match for anti discrimination laws.
It's not a private dwelling, it's a business premises...

If they were engaged in what the law considers "lewd behaviour", they have no case.
If they weren't engaged in said behaviour... That landlord is fucked.

That's providing of course either party can provide any evidence either way.

Well it depends on if the clientele was offended or not. If everyone there was wierded out then the owner has every right to kick them out because they were disrupting business. If hes just being prejudice against the guys then yeah that's kinda wrong.
I'd draw the line at how much PDA they were showing each other. Little Kiss here and there? I tell the crowd to stfu. Full on make out? GET A ROOM YOU TWO!!!

If the crowd is rather hostile I may end up going over and politely recommend the couple leave for their own safety, but leave it entirely up to them

The pub might need to prove that it has a consistent policy of asking people who have PDA to leave. I wonder how many straight couples they might have kicked out would be in a hurry speak up for them and bail them out of trouble? (well, I guess none as I doubt that they ever did). The standards they use for couples of all orientations must be the same. If someone is feeling contrary enough, they might have to prove the fact in court.

Under the Equality Act 2010 if someone chooses to run/own a business or establishment that offers goods or services, they are not permitted to behave in a discriminatory way. In other words it is NOT legal to throw gays out of pubs if they would not have thrown a hetero couple out for exactly the same thing. If you do not want to serve people who are black or Hindu or Gay, they close your business and fuck off as it is not legal to behave that way.

There was a protest kiss-in at the pub on Friday. The pub did counter by closing its doors at 3pm. I laughed and hope they enjoy losing more days of takings over the next week or two.

I would be reluctant to judge until I knew exactly what happened.
If it was just normal kissing it wouldn't have bothered me at all, I probably wouldn't even have noticed.

In the UK we can, and we do.

We don't let people put "No blacks, no Irish" in their windows as businesses once did. We don't let them say "no gays." We do invite them to show a consistent standard of who they refuse service to and if that standard is proven to be discriminatory, the business gets bitchslapped.

If someone is making out in a bar next to me, no matter what gender, I'd be uncomfortable and ask them to stop.
If they got enough complaints and didn't stop, the bartender/owners had every right to remove them from the bar.
Unless of course, it was just a peck. In which case that was kind of a dick move.
This, I doubt very much that it was a simple kiss. I actually got the tweet the guy complained with on my feed, I think there's more to it than just simply kissing a guy and being kicked out.

Well its a dilemma , whist I disagree with the owner's decision to kick the men out ( personally I would have ignored it) It is a private establishment, and as such he has a right to disallow behavior he finds objectionable. Although in my mind I keep comparing this to the 1950's and 1960's when they had white only restaurants and drinking fountains and alike.

I've seen hetero couples kicked out of clubs and bars before for getting into it too much, who knows maybe they were getting too hot and heavy.

I don't really want any couple making out in public. Go for a peck, just no more. Thanks.

Well if the bartender made it clear to all people that they shouldn't be kissing, and he threw anyone who was kissing out then I would be fine.

If the bartender threw them out because it was quintessential average homosexual intimacy then I would have a problem.

But if the bartender threw them out because it was getting obscene then I would be fine, if it isn't recorded then we wont really know what went on.
