A hush fell over the room as Chell declared he challenge loudly, the monks followed her dramatic point and saw that she just declared her challenge to the towers Elder. He laughed lightly as he stepped forward.
"Very well then, I accept your challenge" he said jovialy, while the other monks looked much more... concerned over this turn of events. The Elder noticed this and rapped his cane against the ground, making a loud noise that seemed to subdue some of the tension, but not dispel it.
He rolled his eyes at this but turned to Chell with a calm smile. "Now, shall we begin?" He asked as he reached into his robe and removed a pokeball, releasing a Hoothoot, standing on one foot. Both of them awaited Chell to make a move

"O Rly Mr. Elder, this is gonna be a good match." Chell grabs a pokeball from her belt and said, "Steve I choose you!" she tosses the pokeball and out pops Steve the lovable Munchlax.
"Munch!" he shouts
"Steve use tackle attack"

Rhodes didn't even need to be told to dodge. He swiftly spun in a graceful barrel roll dodging it and then chomped down again on Dash before flitting off and bombarding him with more supersonic waves.
"Batatatatatatatatatatat!"

Dash tried valiantly to continue the fight, limping towards the waiting Zubat. His energy spent and completely confused, he stumbled.

"Growlithe..."

Good battle. We have a lot of work to do Dash!

Eric withdrew the fainted Growlithe.

"Good battle. I'm Eric but you can call me Lucky."

*Walks over to shake hands*

Enjoy your victory now buddy because I'm going to take you down some day! Then Falkner!

Alex smiled and shook Eric's hand firmly. "That was a close match. Your Growlithe is fast. Very impressive."
Rhodes flew down and landed on Alex's neck nibbling gently.

"I agree with Alex here, that was a very exciting match. I kinda hope to have a match with anyone that's nearly as good. I'm Gereld by the way." Said Gereld, approaching from his position form the sidelines.

"Nice to meet you. Dash and I have been training a long while for battle. Where are you from? I'm the best trainer around here, besides Falkner and I was just about to leave on my own." He talked while walking towards the Pokecenter. Losing sucked but he swallowed it. He was not going to become like one of those bug catchers to the east.

I lost. We both did our best and I lost. I've got to get some more Pokemon!

"That's an impressive Zubat you've got there Alex. What's that other Pokemon called though? I've seen it a few times but only with trainers who didn't want to battle me."

They wouldn't even notice him, going straight for the gym and leaving with a shiny badge within the hour. Mind you, most of them had about four Pokeballs with them.

First things first, lets get you back up and running Dash!

As Steve ran at the tiny bird, The Elder nodded and it swiftly dodged the tackle. Steve stopped and looked around, but the Hoothoot was nowhere to be found. Suddenly it dropped from above and landed perfectly on his head, standing there for a split second before pecking Steve very hard right between the eyes and hopped off, fluttering mid-air before turning to face the two.

Matt took the chance caused by the two monks distraction to try to gain the upper hand in the battle. "Rojo! Use scratch again on the Rattata" he said, and she charged up to the purple rodent and began clawing at it once more, it tried to shake her off but she was relentless in her attack.
"Bellsprout, use vinewhip to remove her!" The other one said sharply, trying to seperate the two. The Bellsprouts 'arms' extended again and lashed at Rojo before wrapping around her and ripping her away.

Alex smiled "Goldenrod. My family was originally from Lillycove. And Thanks. Caught him with my bare hands. See?" He gestured to four deep looking wounds on his neck. Rhodes chittered happily and started to crawl over on Alex's neck. "Ahahaha! Don't do that! That tickles! Anyways maybe we should head out a little after we heal up. I think there are supposed to be some Mareep up ahead."

"I'm from Kanto, in Celadon city, and I don't think I'll come with you guys out of town. I'd kinda like to check out that tower." Said Gereld, pointing to the old tower way off in the distance.

I'm off to bed. Night all.

"You guys are quite a distance away from home!"

I hope I can say that about myself someday soon.

"Mareep?" asked Eric, puzzled. None of the local trainers used that kind of Pokemon. He turned to Gereld. "Sprout tower... Well, you can have fun there if you want."

I never want to be inside that thing again.

He pushed the door of the Pokecenter open.

I have a big day tomorrow. Not much posting I'm afraid. Goodnight all!

Alex headed inside the pokemon center and carefully handed Nurse Joy the pokeballs.
He chatted with a few of the local trainers to see if any of them knew where a flock of mareep were. Most pointed in the direction he had just come from.

Zirat OK'd me, so here goes I guess.
Name: Darrel

Age: 17

Appearance: Darrel is extremely thin, the bare minimum to be considered "healthy" by most doctors. The boy stands about 5'10". His skin is pale, as he's spent most of his life indoors, having very little appreciation or compulsion for the outdoors. His hair is brown, and of medium length, very feathered and unkempt, which he claims is natural. He has the beginnings of a beard, with a halfway-developed goatee.

His face is very relaxed, with no lines whatsoever save for a faint outline of the smile he constantly has. He has gray eyes, long eyelashes, and constant smirk, which combine to make it seem as if he's always in a trance of some sort.

He tends to wear carpenter jeans, along with a black hooded sweatshirt with red trim. On the sweatshirt is a flaming skull with bright orange shades, angled to ludicrous extents. He claims it's from a show, but nobody can imagine what program inspired such an odd design. He also usually wears a pair of thin-framed sunglasses, with oval shaped, rose colored lenses.

Hometown: New Bark Town

Bio: Darrel grew up in New Bark Town, like many would-be trainers, but actually spent very little time interacting with the other children. He spent most of his time inside, either playing video games or activities he made up, which he then played with his father's Houndoom. He figured that since he knew he'd grow up to be a trainer, he could save interaction with others until then. As a result he became a bit of a shut-in, only going out when required. Despite this, he was a very good-natured soul, and his laid back demeanor made him friends among those who got to know him.

The only person he spent much time with was his father, an old veteran who now spent all his time raising Darrel. He told the young boy war stories, and all sorts of legends, myths, and rumors about the Pokemon world, especially the exploits of the world's newest star trainers, Red and Gold. Over time, Darrel took heart to these stories and began to look forward to his chance to make his mark on the world.

Eventually he began to be ostracized by the adults of the town, starting around the age of 13. His constant dream-like expression, relaxed attitude, and lack of drive to interact with others made many of the town's moral guardians suspect him to be abusing some sort of substance, and therefore he was kept away to prevent him from corrupting the other children.

So for the last four years, Darrel has grown up relatively friendless, and when denied the chance to be with friends actually began to desire human interaction. He persevered, and now eagerly awaits his chance to head out into the world and be a Pokemon trainer.

Not long ago, he and his father went on a long fishing trip, out near Olivine, in an attempt at bonding. However, when they returned home they found New Bark Town burned to the ground, utterly destroyed. Now without a home, Darrel's father insisted that he begin his Pokemon journey immediately; he would not be safe anymore. Taking his father's old bayonet, Darrel set out to find the reason behind the destruction of New Bark Town, and change the world like the heroes he'd been taught so much about.

Items:
*A set of clothes
*Rose sunglasses
*Dad's old bayonet (for protection)
*$50

As Gereld, Alex, and Eric spoke they became aware that someone else was approaching. It was a young man, likely still in his late teens, and extremely lanky. His face was hidden behind a pair of rose-tinted shades and feathered brown hair, save for a goofy smile on his lips. A blazing skull with orange shades decorated a black sweatshirt, combining with the rest of his appearance to make a very odd individual.

Added to all of that, on his shoulder rode a very odd Pokemon. It was bipedal, and appeared to be some sort of cream-colored ball of fluff, with a pig-like nose and very bright eyes, currently seeming to indicate sheer joy. The pair marched down the street, giggling to themselves, until they reached the door. Without even looking, the boy walked into the Pokemon Center and smacked into Alex, falling to the ground, his Pokemon rolling away.

"Ow ow, jeez..." The boy muttered to himself. He looked up to see the man and immediately looked somewhat embarrassed. "Oh man, I didn't mean to hit you, sorry about that! Hey, uh, is this that one place? The Pokemon Center?"

He turned quickly as if to scold the newcomer "Be careful. I just got out of a tough battle so my pals need a rest. But yes this is the pokemon center." His tone was surprisingly friendly. He gave him a hand up.
Nighty night everyone...

The boy nodded, and took the other's hand, and stood back up. The little Pokemon scrambled back up onto his shoulder. "Uh, right, thanks." He said, nodding in sync with his companion. "I'm Darrel. This is my Mankey, Spike." The Mankey then waved to Alex. Darrel turned to leave, but then spun back around to say something else.

"Before you go, though, I was wondering, where would I go to catch up on news? I, uh, I just came from New Bark Town, and..."

Gereld looked at the new person, who introdced himself as Darrel, and said" I assume there'll be somewhere in the pokemon center to get any news, but I doubt muh has happened since you traveled from New Bark. Hell, I doubt much has happened since we left New bark, right Alex?" that is certainly the oddeset looking pokemon I've seen yet. thought Gereld, as his eyes wandered up to the Mankey.

"Nice to meet you, Darrel. That Mankey looks in top form! I can tell!" Alex shivered violently as Gerald asked him the question. He became visibly more pale and broke out into a cold sweat. "Yeah... I'm sure nothing happened. This is an era of peace."
He clutched his arm because it had begun to violently shake. Nurse Joy called and said his pokemon had been healed. "Ah that's me. I need to go get Rhodes and Cecily." He knew he was acting suspicious. Maybe that Darrel kid would follow him instead of going home.

"W-what?" Darrel asked, as if Gereld's reply was some horrifying revelation. Spike began to coo a little, and try to catch Darrel's attention as if to calm him down, but it didn't work. The boy's smile withered a bit, and he barely managed to speak; it sounded as if he were about to start sobbing. "You mean... you don't know? Does anybody know?"
