Nurse Joy sighed, as chansey took the Eevee's pokeball and headed back, and walked around from behind the counter. She examined the wound "Rattata, right. This should do the trick." She pulled out a small spray canister and sprayed it on Lilly's wound. She then placed a band-aid on her wound. "There we go. Everything should be good."

Alex casually looked around. Horus's tail was still doing the same motion as it had when he bonked the sentret. Alex tried to get him to stop but he ended up just getting shocked.

Jason stopped for a few minutes to catch his breath. He had been walking for quite a while now, making his trip from Azalea Town to Violet City in a little over seven hours. He looked up to see the Pokemon Center looming over him, something he hadn't realized until he had looked up. He shuffled around underneath his jacket for a minute before pulling out a pokeball and releasing the Pokemon inside of it with a bright stream of red light. When the light cleared, a Bagon stood in its place, stretching its tiny arms and looking around as if there was a battle to be had.

"Its alright Bagon... we finally made it." Jason said, smiling and ushering the Bagon into the Pokemon Center. He noticed a larger group of people standing about, but didn't immediately go over to them, instead he walked over to a group of chairs and sat down. He listened to the others, but made no move to go meet them, instead watching with interest as his Bagon darted in-between the chairs.

"Mank mank mank mank!" and other sounds filled the air, as Spike did a little dance of joy.

"Awesome, thanks!" Darrel said, rubbing the back of his head. Ever since he'd been a child, it had been a tic of his when he felt flattered. Spike and Darrel walked inside, and moved to the best spot for a fairly-sized arena. "Spike's the only Pokemon I've got, so I guess I'll use him." Darrel said.

The elder nodded. "I see. So it will be a one on one. I warn you, I will not be easy to beat."

Weepinbell made a nice little sound. "WeeeeepinBELL!"

The Elder began. "Weepinbell! Vine whip! Now!"

Spike was unprepared for the sudden commencement of the battle, and the vines smacked him, causing him to roll a bit to his right. "All right, Spike, use that momentum!" Spike jumped from the point where he had stopped and slid towards Weepinbell.

"Hit 'im with a Low Kick!"

Weepinbell sent vines up and wrapped them around a pillar on top. It then lifted itself up dodging the low kick by mere inches. However the beam above began to crack. The Weepinbell looked up as a chunk of debris fell right on its left leaf. It screamed in pain.

Spike came to a stop and looked up at the Weepinbell above him. It was in full battle mode, and awaiting an order. After a moment he turned to Darrel, who had been watching the Weepinbell sway in tandem with the beam in the center of the tower.

"Oh, right!" He said, laughing sheepishly. "Spike, get up there and use Scratch!"

The Mankey climbed up the pillar after Weepinbell, and then leaped off from its position to try and get a good hit in.

Lily felt ridiculous. She had been such a detriment to Matt in the tower, and all it took to fix her up was some spray and a band aid. How could she be so useless? 'Eevee...' She thought, 'Was more useful than me. I suck.'

Turning her head to search for Matt, a Pokemon caught her eye. She had never seen anything like it before. A small, blue creature with a head of something like stone ran from table to table before jumping into a boy's lap.

Putting weight back on her leg, Lily walked over to him. "Why hello, sir," she said, "what's that you got there?"

The Elder cried out "Stop this! Stop! I give up! My Weepinbell is very injured. You have permission to look around the Tower. But it is dangerous at night, You over there! Go with him."

Alex looked around. He had snuck in the tower, making sure that Horus was in his ball. When the Elder had gestured to him to go with Darrel, He reacted quickly, realizing in the low light the Elder thought he was a monk. Alex nodded and gestured to Darrel "We will go up now." He made frantic shushing noises so Darrel wouldn't blow his cover.

Darrel nodded towards Alex, recognizing that he wasn't a monk either. As Spike hopped back on his shoulder he jumped, as if remembering something, and dug into the pocket of his sweatshirt. He came up with a small potion, which handed to the Elder. He then turned around and walked over towards Alex. "All right, let's go."

"Oh, hi. This is my Bagon." Jason said standing up and putting out a hand to shake the girls, "My name's Jason, I just started out from Azalea Town and thought this was the best place to begin my Pokemon journey."

Jason didn't know why he was revealing so much about what he was doing here, but he couldn't help it. His Bagon apparently felt the same, nipping Jason's ankle before darting away under a table.

"Bagon, hm..." Lily studied the Pokemon. It had a playful heart, shown by its running around ceaselessly. The creature also seemed like it was ready to fight anything that came near it, no matter how intimidating it was. The little thing honestly made her think of a baby monster from a fairy tale.

"Where on Earth did you find this?" she asked, staring intently at the Bagon.

Alex headed up the stairs. They creaked ominously as they made the steps up. He poked his head out. "I think nobody's up here. We should be good." He climbed up and helped Darrel up. "Man, it's dark. Come on out, you guys." He threw the pokeballs and sent out Horus and Rhodes. "They should help us with the darkness."

"All right, cool." Darrel said, lurking alongside the other trainer and his companions. "Hey, wait a minute." He said, thinking it through as he got a better look at his companion. "You're that guy that was outside the Pokemon Center earlier, weren't you?" Spike, meanwhile, began to lurk ahead with the other Pokemon, prepared to fight any danger that dared to show itself near him.

Alex looked back. "Yeah... sorry about that... Horus..." He began to speak as though he were speaking to a baby. "Now Horus dear, I need you to use some electricity to light up the tail of yours." He knelt down and held the Mareep's head up. "Maaahhh." After around half a minute of what appeared to be thinking the bulb started to light up.

"It was a gift from my parents actually... They sent it to me as a going away present." Jason admitted, watching as Bagon walked out from underneath the table and over to Jason's side. Bagon stared intently at Lily, but made no move to do anything except stare.

"So what are you doing in Violet City?" Jason asked, rubbing the Bagon's head while maintaining eye contact with Lily.

Little did Alex and Darrel know that within the tower, Horus's light had woken up a pokemon. One that had been sleeping deeply until that light had shattered it's peaceful dreams. It moved rapidly towards the light desperate to somehow shut it off. "Ghastly!!"

"Whoa!" Darrel said, as he saw the ghost Pokemon approaching. "I was wondering if I'd run into a Ghastly! Spike, use--" But before he could react, he realized that his Mankey, as a Fighting-Type, had absolutely no way to fight a Ghost-Type. He mulled it over in his head a second, and thought "Ghastly's half Poison, right? Maybe Low Kick will work on it!"

"Spike!" He shouted. "Use Low Kick!"

The Ghastly stopped as the foot went through it's body. "Ghastly?" It looked confusedly at Spike its body seemed to waver a little bit from the air caused by Spikes kick. "Ghastly!!!" it closed in and gave Spike a huge lick.
"Keep it up! Darrel! I think you might have a chance!"

"Oh funny, man! REAL funny!" Darrel retorted, now fully into the battle as Spike was frozen in place by Ghastly's Lick. He began to think back to all the games he had played growing up, and what they'd taught him to do in a situation like this. Flanking doesn't work, the environment won't harm it... Ooh, that could work. It's risky, but I'm out of options...

"Spike! Don't attack back! Just dodge whatever he throws at you. You don't have to be the winner, as long as you don't lose."

Spike nodded, and jittered a bit as he turned back to face the Ghastly.
