The Night Shade had nowhere to go except directly into Spike's face. The Mankey flipped into the air and came down to the ground with a loud smack.
"Come on, Spike!" Darrel shouted, shaking his fist in excitement. "You're stronger than that little bird! Show it how with another Scratch attack!"

Before Darrel could say anymore Spike had hopped back onto his feet, his face beet red with sheer rage as it ran in place for a moment, as if the monkey wasn't sure what to do with his legs. He then shot off like a rocket at the green bird, his nails making a glint from the light as it prepared a doubly-hard strike.

Lily shook her head as Gerald and Alex went back and forth about her and Chell. Chell was the reason Lily had stayed on her own for so long, for she did not want to have such strong emotions stirred up in her. Lily preferred her solitude, where no one could make her feel anything. No sorrow, no anger, no hate... No joy, no amusement, no love...

Lily didn't want to have to preoccupy herself with others. In the end, they would just weigh her down when she left for Unova after becoming the Champion. On a related note, if she made a large group of friends that all wanted to be the Champion, she would need to defeat them all. Having an emotional connection to her opponent could cause her to make a mistake she wouldn't, otherwise.

"No, guys..." Lily finally said. "I'm sure I'll be going off on my own. Thanks for offering though... You're all really great." She smiled.

Smiling, Gereld said simply" Go right a head. It's your choice."

Turning back to the match, Gereld was barely paying attention to it. Lily's talk about going off alone, and more importently, Gereld actually paying attention to it seriously for the first time had begun to make him remember the journey he had taken alone not very long ago traveling from Celadon to New bark. he remembered it had been cold and lonely, but he above all reclled how hungry he'd always been. But that's the past. Now, I'm a Pokemon Trainer! Gereld thought fiercly, and for the first time since waking up that morning, He'd begun to feel a measure of excitment for the match he was to have with Falkner after Darrel.

Alex frowned. "Well... I do hope we meet again, Lily and I hope when we meet Everyone can get along." He gave her a polite smile.
He snapped his fingers "That's right! I believe their giving a live conference call from Goldenrod. Perhaps someone I know is on." He flipped out his pokegear and switched it to radio. He then tuned it in and started listening carefully. He gave a look of disappointment "Dang. Must've missed it."

That blow would have finished the battle, but the Natu calmly hopped backwards and to the side and avoided the first swing of the Mankeys arm. It did so again when the primate lashed out in anger but this time retaliated with a hard Peck to it's body when it had the chance.
"Thats right, just charge headlong in. Keep doing it like that and I'm sure you'll win against me. That... or just lose horribly" Falkner remarked as he looked at the display before him.

"What are you talking about Alex?" Matt asked, unsure of what he was listening for in Goldenrond.

Darrel kept the wild grin and shouted to Falkner "You think that little green pipsqueak has a chance against Spike? His anger is his greatest strength! Show him what I mean with another Scratch, and don't show him any of that mercy this time, man! We've got to keep you in top form!"

Spike charged towards the Natu, but this time avoided a frontal attack and actually leaped into the air, sailing over the bird as the Mankey tried to shred it with a fresh flurry of attacks.

Alex turned "Oh well occasionally like once a month there are the people in Goldenrod tape a really impressive battle and play it out blow by blow. And occasionally there will be guest judges who are from around there." He excitedly and longwindedly explained the most recent one that he had heard to Matt.

I'd like to apologize for my recent inactivity and slowness to respond to things in this thread.

No real excuse other then things have been kinda hectic on this end, and I'll be trying to stay on top of this best I can
But for the mean time, lets just finish this up for now so we can move on.
I promise the next gym will be a bit more streamlined so we dont get so bogged down in it.

"Huh... dont think I've heard of that before" Matt said, his attention being taken away from the battle momentarily. "Sounds like something good though"

The Natu looked up impassively as the Mankey leaped overhead and impassively turned to face it's opponent as it easily evaded it's blows again and again, Spike made a last wild swing but the Natu simply hopped over it, and mid air faded from view again as it Teleported a small distance away.
"So, what was that about your little monkeys rage being it's greatest strength? You seem to be making a few predictable moves with your first pokemon. Brute stength really isnt the answer to all of your problems" Falkner remarked with an amused smile on his face.

"Brute strength isn't all I'm using!" Darrel said excitedly. "There are things going on that you can't even begin to understand." In his mind, Darrel wasn't the least bit worried about the state of the match. For ever blow Spike had taken he knew that the Mankey had responded just as well. The Natu wasn't a very high level, and it definitely wasn't as physically tough as Spike. It couldn't take many hits before it went down; and more importantly, it could only teleport so many times.

"Brute strength may not be the answer to everything, but when you get it moving fast enough it comes close to it! Spike, use a Scratch, and this time don't miss!"

Spike shot off like a rocket, sprinting across the stadium, huffing and puffing as he closed in on the little bird. In his mind, Spike was acknowledging his exhaustion, but his sheer rage kept him moving. As long as he was fighting he could run all day.

Falkner seemed rather bored by what Darrel was going on about. "Alright then, whatever you say to help you get through to the end, Natu Teleport out of the way again and hit him with one last Nightshade" Falkner ordered, and the little bird seemed to concentrate for a moment... and nothing happened, it was too soon since the last one, and this mistake gave Spike more then a chance to get his chance to attack.
His single strike sent the bird flying to the side, where it hit and rolled before rolling back to it's feet with what seemed to be without a concious effort.
"Heh, see where that got you? Now Natu, do Nightshade again" he repeated with a hint of triumph in his voice. The Natu did nothing. It had infact been knocked out, though it's eyes were still open. A few moments passed before it finaly fell backwards again, it's blank now staring at the ceiling.
"... Natu, return" Was all Falkner had to say as he returned the injured pokemon to it's ball

"Hmm, looks like Falkner is getting rather fed up with all of these losses now. Wonder what he could be trying to pull out next"

"All right, Spike, get back here!" Darrel said, shouting in joy as the Mankey ran into his waiting arms. He laughed along with his Pokemon for a few moments before pulling out the Pokeball and calling it back inside. He grabbed a new ball.

"Don't be so down, Falkner! These fights are what trainers live for, man! All right Puck, get on out and show 'em what you've got!"

He tossed the ball to the ground, out of which popped the blue Gastly known as Puck. It chortled a bit before taking its place on the battlefield.

Chell had been watching and waiting for what seemed like days to her and her tiny attention span. She saw Falkner's Soranik Natu get taken out, I've had it my turn she thought as she jump into the air and flying roundhouse kicked Darrel off the field.
"Hiya Bird Gym dude, I'm Chell and its my turn to battle now 'kay thanks." she said in a sac-ran sweet tone.

"What the hell?!" Darrel called as he rolled across the room, ending up upside-down against the wall. "It's not your turn yet, Chell! I've still got another Pokemon to fight, wait your turn!"

Alex gawked. "Chell..." He face-palmed and sighed.
"What the hell have I gotten myself into." He grinned "Well... the view is great..."

Jumping up, Gereld ran down to the field and tried to drag Chell away. Turning his head, he Yelled to Matt, Lily and Alex "Help me out here guys, She's not exactly going to come quietly!" Glaring at Chell for such an embarresing and childish act, Gereld pulled with as much might as he could muster, but Chell refused to move.

Falkner looked at the sudden spectacle unveiling itself before him, suddenly some crazy broad bum rushed his opponent and the worst part is he found it hilarious. Though keeping up appearances he kept a straight face. He had three battle ready pokemon left, and now there were some more trainers to deal with.
He looked over to the waiting trainers and called out to them. "Hey! How many more are actualy going to be taking me on?"
After a little bit of thought Matt spoke up. "Well, atleast three, bu-" he was cut off
"Perfect" Falkner said before letting out a loud whistle to quiet the arguing trainers down.
"Okay listen up! Things are now going to go into the lightning round, one pokemon per trainer, do you understand that now?" He asked them.
"... unfortunately, that also means that you won. But you got off lucky, you hear that?" He said, pointing to Darrel. "Now all of you who ARENT currently battling me, clear out" he said with finality and awaiting the others to leave so he can continue

Darrel sighed, calling Puck back into its ball and walking off to the stands. However, he instantly perked up a bit after he realized that he had won. He looked at Lily (realizing he had a good thing going with annoying her, he decided to keep it up for his own amusement) and grinned, saying "So how did I do?" in a voice that sounded suspiciously like he was trying to show off to her.

"Hey Gerrald, um only Alex gets to feel me up like that." she said as she broke away from the trainers obvious attempt to fondle her chest.

She reached for Steve's pokeball, "Steve get out here, we have epicness to do." she said throwing the ball. it opened and out came Steve the Lovable, awesome, Muchlax of righteousness.

"I hope your ready Falkner because your chances of victory are about to be gobbled up." She said.

"MunchLAX!" said Steve doing a heroic pose

Alex called out "Does that mean I have to leave too?" He didn't want to miss Chell's match, he'd never really seen her battle.
His eyes slowly lowered to her midriff. As he heard her comment he raised his arms and shouted "Woot!"

Matt looked over at Alex's reaction. "Well, seems you have something to look forward to in the not so distant future" he joked as he nudged him in the ribs with his elbow.

As the other two cleared out of the battle aread, Falkner sized up his new opponent and her sizeable pokemon. "Heh... a Munchlax. Never see much of them in these parts, though that wont do you any good" he said as he released his own pokemon, it had a small blue body, and was nestled between a pair of fluffy wings that appeared to have a wool-like consistency.
"Swablu, your up!" He called out to the fluffy winged avian.
