Soo... Taking a break from the console games everyone's talking about...
And going all the way back to the first text adventure (yeah, I'm hella cool like that):
Figuring out how to kill the dragon.
Honestly, it was the simplest thing ever that took me so long to figure out.
Also, figuring out what XYZZY did.
Those two things were much too simple for my brain.

i didn't realize the New-U stations teleported you in Borderlands. I was starting to get mad that i had to drive super far places until i played with my friend. We teleported and i had no idea what happened.

Seriously? I found that out around 2 or 3 days of gameplay. You people need to experiment more.

I still haven't figured out how to put your weapon away without unequipping it either? :D
Press and hold X to holster your weapon.

On Topic:played Oblivion for around half a year before discovering you could "Grab" objects and make them float around. A pointless feature, but one I used massively afterwards nonetheless.
Same, I had always assumed the only way to do this was the telekinetic manipulation or whatever, I was seriously confused when my friend talked about moving bodies around.

Then i realized that that unused button had a purpose.

I just realized yesterday, that my Pipboy in Fallout 3 had a built in flashlight in it that was toggled by holding down the Tab button longer.(have been playing Fallout 3 for the past 3-4 months now)
That happened to me as well.

I once beat that one really crappy Dragon Ball GT GBA game without realizing that I could do more than jump, punch, and shoot tiny energy blasts. I was looking at a guide online, and I started to skim over the "Controls" section, until I noticed it was longer than three lines.

"Wait, I can power up? I can shoot super ki attacks? I can do spinning attacks? I can grab enemies? There are actual combos?"

I didn't figure out counter-moves in Assassin's Creed until on of the very last fights.
Good god that game was easy after that.

For a while in Oblivion, I wasn't aware there was a fast travel feature, or that you could knock down Varla/Welkynd stones with arrows. It was my first 360 game, so I still wasn't all that used to games with physics.

That's what I love about a game like Portal. You always end up in that moment where you're like, "Well, I'm screwed...No, wait a second...Why don't I just--YAY!" That sense of accomplishment when you're truly one with all the game mechanics is just awesome.

Well, this is more random in game than it is a trick I just said 'oh, duh', and it's stupid kind of funny.....I didn't know how to change the radio in the car of Saints Row 2 for about a solid month of playing, I got the 50 hours achievement long before I figured out how to operate the radio.

"Don't forget to doubleclick the map, it'll stay on top of your game so you won't have to constantly switch between windows like a full blown retard." Said the old guildmember.
"yeah lol I already figured that out, thanks anyway." Said the person who'd been using Ultima Online Automap for five minutes.
"FUUUUUUU-" said Klepa, after four months of switching between the map and the game window, and two months of somehow wiggling Ultima Online into a smaller window, so that the map, it's chat, and the actual game could be viewed at once.

Learned from a fellow I was playing with online that in 50 Cent:BOTS you can take down the stupid boss helicopters in about 4 seconds with the explodey bullets. Way better than my way with the slow moving RPGs that they dodge 80% of the time...

Add that to the list... I need to re-think my mod!

Also holstering my weapon and the pip-boy light where features unknown to me until a few months ago.

Also, in Mirrors Edge, I had no idea how to do the wall-run until I got stuck at a part where it was 100% necessary. Finally figured it out and felt like a retard. It's automatic, but I thought you had to press a certain button which actually sends you flying 90 degrees in the wrong direction.
