"You saw it disappear!?" Hillary exclaimed loudly while she moved over to Timea. "Did someone take it you think?"

"When you have prey that's larger then you'll be able to eat in one go, you'll have to eat the parts that'll be the first to rot, or else parts will go to waste. Soft tissues like the organs and the tongue will be the first to go, but I already ate these," Timea explained, lowering her arm. "Extremities are the second thing to start to degrade, so I want you to feel around for them, and tell me what you think should be cut."

The dorsal and pectoral fins had already been removed, but the shark's pelvic, anal and caudal fins were still in place. The shark was laying on its side, allowing for easy access to all these.

"That's unlikely", Timea responded, looking towards Hillary. "But at the same time, with how things are in this world, I don't particularly rule it out, either. Time will tell."

"Your heart is not that of a regular human. And you really know nothing about this?", deciding it was no use to hide her ability.

"Not at all." Matilda replied, sounding quite surprised. "So, if it's not human... any idea what it is?"

"... no. Not really. It feels like pure justice. I don't know more than that."

After a long while, EMily was finally finished with her notes. With a crack of her neck she sifted the notes into their proper order. The notes would be:
1. Intro and Forward.
2. More details on the scientific method including its ability to forgive but not forget mistakes.
3. The first law of thermodynamics as well as the thermal expansion of gases from the ideal gas law. Definitions of pressure and temperature are also included.
4. Converting water into steam and how much energy is needed.
5. Possible applications of steam including piston-cranks, as well as a pneumatic cylinder, with diagrams showing how they would work.
6. DIY projects on how to make a thermometer and the basics on how to make a barometer.

She made a good stretch as she got up from her chair and reorganized the desk the way it was before she arrived. She walked up to the front desks to return the materials and thank the clerks for their resources.

She exited the building and made her way back to the merchant's guild.

When EMily arrived back at the merchant's guild, she would find the merchant she had made the deal with sitting outside. He smiled at EMily as she approached.

Anik laughed.
"Yes, you could say that. Could there be a reason why you are here?"

She nodded and smiled politely as she handed over the notes.

"Let's sit down somewhere so we can discuss what I've written."

Yeager woke up and had a quick breakfast before leaving. He headed out in search of the river and the boats traveling to Calibeth City.

The merchant offered EMily a place on the seat next to him, as he looked through the notes. "So, this system you propose would use the steam from boiled water? Interesting..." he mused.

"Maybe... this isn't the first time this has happened to me." Matilda replied.

Robin looked at the book on the altar. He walked towards it, not sure if he was allowed to pick it up or not.

"Oh? Well, you should tell me about that some time.

But first we should figure out what your purpose here is. Maybe a great injustice exists in this world? I mean, this anti-magic thing doesn't seem that right."

Being completely and totally unfamiliar with fish anatomy, Sibylla wouldn't be able to pick out anything she figured to be an extremity, and thus gave up on the exercise without even approaching success. "This thing don't have no arms'r legs."

Cybil had left EMily alone in the library so as to not bother EMily with how boring she was.

Figuring going for the book on the alter would be a bit ham-handed, Cybil went to check if anyone was in the office.

At Night

Cybil would see Father Ysha sitting at his desk, and would likely also notice the books he had in his office.

"I dunno, magic can be pretty dangerous, and the magic around here might not have any benefits." Matilda pointed out.

In the Morning

Yeager would find the river a few hundred metres north of the city. On the river was a group of barged lined up, being loaded with boxes. Yeager would also see the boxes themselves being filled from carts, some with fish and others with various fruits.

As the sun rose to the southeast, the flames on the temple of Calibeth would go out. Instead, the blade would begin to glow, the light getting brighter as the sun moved through the sky.

"Yes indeed it does. Steam, much like air, exerts pressure and force. When water is heated, its volume increases hundreds of times when it's converted into steam. I mentioned it in the intro for these notes that you'll have to diagnose some of the principles I've outlined. If only to get a rigorous understanding of them in this world. Steam is powerful stuff, but it is no doubt volatile and should be handled with care. But that is certainly the case for any new tool one discovers. A crankshaft is a system that was used on my world long before the invention of steam power. Although I'm not sure if any scientific methods have ever been explored on this world. Back on my world, it was invented long before the invention of great galleons were sailing oceans; roughly around the times of the ancient Ionian Greeks four thousand years ago in my timeline. Admittedly it did take quite a while to catch on."

Timea watched Sibylla feel around the shark carcass, with her left hand on her hip, letting her try things out on her own before stepping in. "That's right. But it does--"she began, stepping closer to Sibylla, and taking hold of Sibylla's hand with her left, and placing it near the pelvic fins. "--have these. Extremities are everything that stick out from the body, not just limbs. So its tail would also be good."

Letting go of Sibylla's hand, Timea said, "Obviously, we don't have any knives, so you'll be moving my clawed finger around to cut. Before we start, though, I want you to feel around to get a feel for the direction the muscles go in. This is important, because cutting in this direction doesn't damage the meat as much. Take as much time as you need for this, there's no rush."

Yeager walked towards the barge workers. The prospect of getting a ride to the city on such a craft didn't thrill him, but neither did having to walk. "Ahoy! Who would I have to talk to get a ride to Calibeth City?"

"Well, but why does it sound like people used it before? Or are the people who use it evil?

Actually, we should find out who these people were. Or why it was banned in the first place. Any idea how we could do that?"
