"I'm sorry Mochán, but I find that an erroneous claim. How would the universe end if there's a limitless energy supply? Everything must die at some point in time. People, trees, rocks, planets, stars, galaxies, and even the universe itself. There is no such thing as limitless energy. The sun seems limitless because it's been around with us for so long and changes so little over the course of an average lifetime. But the fact of the matter is, it's going to end. Everything must end at some point."

"And another thing, it's impossible to claim that magic disobeys all the rules if all the rules haven't been established. When you open a book of physics laws, you're seeing the past models that people have seen that's tried and true under experimentation. But as the book continues you see that there were some unexpected observations that made people question reality. It's proof that what we know isn't everything. I cannot stress this enough. And from that we experiment on this observation and revise our model. And whole cycle repeats. What you call 'magic' could just be some form of law that is a whole part of reality that hasn't been discovered yet. Now, for your universe that may be the case, but there has been no hard evidence on my world for it so far. That's the critical difference."

The group would find that most of the food in the bag had a strange mix of foods, there was of course bland tasteless crackers, and your standard jerky of some unknown origin that all trips seemed to carry, there was also bags of dried fruits that all looked the same, very heavily salted meat that would require some degree of washing to be edible, a variety of smoked meats some of which you probably would not like to know the origin of, a couple jars of what appeared to be forms of curry sauce, jars of pickled... Things. Like pickled thing meat most likely from undesirable parts of a beast, and pickled vegetable stuff that always seemed to turn into semi-mushy gel no matter what, and of course pickled gross slop that stuff that has to be sealed in containers full of red liquid to warn all those that dared to try, and open it.
Heno was currently eating jerky sandwiched between two of the crackers and some pickled vegetable stuff on top with some dried fruit to clear away the taste of anything else. He was listening to EMily, and Aqua talk. "Well she was obviously created by a god, or a very powerful spirit, just like humans."

 

[Chungus]

"I didn't particularly plan on asking this possible god to just give us the ability to hop between worlds, Timea responded, and quickly after, added, "Well, I would still do that, but I hardly expect the answer to be "yes, of course!" Assuming this little theory is true to begin with, then this god must have put us here for a reason. And since there wasn't been any form of contact, it could be assumed it isn't to have us do something for it."

After saying this, Timea paused, and hummed to herself. "Buuut all of this is just ever so much speculating, isn't it? And there is little purpose in that. So! I say we just follow the wind, and say where it takes us. A vague idea on what to do is better than none at all, yes?

So on that note, let's go!" With that said, Timea walked out of the temple, and began heading towards the docks.

The guard took Yeager's note, and said he would deliver it as soon as he was free.

 

[Silence]

Anik had not cared about what she ate, she just had some meat that felt edible, and some dried fruits. And the apple, after.

"Well, I hope it doesn't take too long." She felt tired, more than her usual tiredness, so she took a bottle of vodka out of her bag and began opening it.

 

[Furioso]

While he waited Yeager went and digged around in the sand a fair distance from the gates.

"A question like that does not throw away my point. Humans have not travelled back in time to find direct evidence of dinosaurs to support the theory of evolution. But they find plenty of evidence in the fossil record that says that's what had to exist at that point. This isn't pessimistic, it's realistic. Everything points to an end at some point. You don't need to be a scientist to know that. Astronomers have observed the deaths of stars for thousands of years and know their life cycles inside and out. Hubble found direct evidence of an expanding universe that's getting farther away from one another. In trillions of years the galaxies will be so far apart they won't be visible from each other any more. The stars will fade away, and die. The point is the universe does not adhere to human ambition."

"Now as to if it restarts, we don't know." She shrugged.

It wouldn't take long for Timea to reach the docks, which had slightly less activity than they had had in the morning. There was still a fair number of workers loading and unloading ships, however.

Yeager would have to wait for a while for the gates to open. When they did, Califorth stepped out, his armour covered in blood and blue flames. Behind him were five soldiers wearing similarly bloody armour, carrying burning swords. "Are you prepared to die now?" Califorth called out, clearly addressing Yeager.

[color=32127a]"At the end of the day, all that evidence is speculation until the universe actually ends. And what does that evidence mean if the universe never does? Human ambition has nothing to do with it. You don't know what's coming, and acting like you do may just make you seem like a fool further down the line."[/color] Mochán replied.

 

[Furioso]

Yeager was waiting a fair distance from the city walls, far enough away from the city walls so that he could see any incoming arrows. "Perhaps, sometime in the future, but not right now. Come now Calli, I thought we had a good thing going?" he asked, not moving from his spot.

 

[Silence]

"Cat is right." Anik said, as she took a mouthful of vodka.

 

[Slenn]

"That might be very true. But I never claimed that we knew everything. I said the exact opposite because there's evidence that shows us that we don't know everything. And at the moment there's an insurmountable amount of evidence that points to the same fate of the universe. As I said, our model does not change until we see something new. And again, it could be that the universe fades away, and then somehow restarts. The thing is, Mochán, a lot of people in my universe have wished for immortality, to live forever, to avoid death. They want to avoid tragedy. They want the world to last forever. That was the point of my bringing up ambition. People want to defy the laws, but you can't break them because there are no penalties, and the universe does not care about your existence or what you wish to happen."

"I agree with cat. Nothing truly ends you know. Time is all cyclic, you see. We are all on the big wagon wheel of the world, always turning, but always ending in the same place as it last did. You must live sad life if you believe anything will truly end. The end of anything is just the beginning of something... Also magic makes something from nothing so it obviously bends these laws you speak of.... And there have been immortal people.... A couple dozen in fact."

"It wasn't really you. It was them. Your offer pushed my father and the generals into deciding to go to war, and then all my efforts would have been ruined." Califorth replied, stopping near Yeager. The flames on his blade and armour slowly returned to their normal orange-red colour, just as the sun did the same above. "I would have accepted your weapons, but not for war."

[color=32127a]"People in my world have wished for the same. And they achieved it, or at least came close. Magic can defy the laws of the universe. That's what makes it magical."[/color] the cat replied.

 

[Furioso]

Yeager firmly placed his palm on his face. "You could have just NOT told them, you know? And vhy would this cause you to kill your father?"

 

[Slenn]

"But how do you know that it's cyclical? All wheels break down. The cycle of life is powerful, but it is not infinite in reach. And why is it sad that I think that everything will end at some point? Isn't that the point of making your life more fulfilling? If life lived forever, then what would be the point of living? I don't want to live forever. I want to spend my time in the most valuable way possible. If the universe ends at some point, then the collective consciousnesses of the universe should try and make the most out of their existence. And whatever immortal people you have on your world, don't apply to mine. Whatever rules your universe obeys, probably don't apply to my own." Her voice became more serious and projected. "And again, why is magic considered to break the laws of nature, when there has to have been something to allow magic to exist in the first place? It doesn't break anything, it only disobeys what we currently know. The stuff coming from quantum mechanics would have been magic to the ancient Greeks, but it's far from being considered magic in my time."

Sibylla shrugged and followed after Timea, not having anything meaningful or interesting to say in response.

Hearing talk of moving on, Cybil stood up and brushed of the sand that was clinging to her clothes and cloak. Since everyone else seemed content to argue about things that would only happen eons after their deaths that were impossible to prove in the current moment, she checked to see roughly how much time had passed and if moving on was even a good idea yet.

"The soldiers and guards would have told him. He is their King, after all. And I hoped he wouldn't jump at the chance to start a war." Califorth replied. "I killed him because he would have declared war had I not done so."

[color=32127a]"If you suddenly decided not to spend your time in the most valuable way possible, simply because you have no limit to that amount of time, then that's your problem."[/color] the cat stated, as he began walking east. Matilda followed after him.

Cybil would find that the temperature had cooled somewhat and, as the group had rested for a few minutes, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get moving.

 

[Silence]

Since people were walking off, Anik packed her stuff away again, mumbling: "Just as I was thinking we would wait forever, so I could take a nap."
She stood up as well, followed the vague hearts of Mochán and Matilda, fumbling and stumbling more than usual.

Speedy was still in the bag.

Aqua was about to speak when Mochan started a conversation about the laws of reality. [color=66CCFF]"Maybe it isn't truly limitless, but no gemstone has ever run out of energy, and we never need to recharge them. I am no scientist, but from what I understand, magic and science go hand in hand with our technology."[/color] Aqua explained. [color=66CCFF]"Science can only do so much, because it still must obey the laws of the universe, but magic can break those laws. Infinite power is certainly possible."[/color]

Aqua considered answering EMily's question about how Gems are created, but decided against it. [color=66CCFF]"And I don't expect you to take too kindly to exactly how Gems are created."[/color]

 

[Furioso]

Yeager sighed "Alright, well I meant vhat I wrote, I don't care about your family squabbles. You can still have your weapons without a war, so if that sounds good to you come on over and we'll come up with a deal, hm?"
