Mt. Faotar - Day 11 - 16:31
"At least I can't get a fear of heights." Anik joked, and walked over to where Timea tapped her foot. picking up the axe and attaching the strap to her wrist. Waiting for Timea to get a certain height, Anik followed suit, for now, as there was no ice, but only stone, not using the axe, instead feeling for good placed to hold on to with her fingers.
Remembering the best technique to climb, she shifted most of her weight to the backside, to distribute the strain in her arms and legs evenly. This way, and keeping it this way, unless she found a spot where she could kind of stand on, she climbed upwards, always taking a lot more time than Timea for every step, as she had to feel for a good place to put her hands on above her.
Soon enough, as she was not able to feel a good spot with her fingers, and later, as the amount of ice on the cliff increased, Anik used her axe, to get a better method of holding on. As she did not really have to feel for a good spot to place the fingers of one hand, she actually did not lose time by switching to this technique, even though picking into the rock and managing to get the axe lose again took some time, as well.
Anik did not talk while climbing, the feeling for the right spots and the climbing itself taking far too much concentration. After about four and a half hours, they were close to the entrance to the caverns.
