"Yes ... I would not want to think about the bad things that could happen to a good thing that also only could happen ... we don't know at all, if we even will be able to get off this world. ... But that is not something I want to think about, as well.

The innkeeper nodded and said, "I had guessed. We don't get many non-travelers in here... or anyone, these days."

Mt. Faotar, Caverns - Day 11 - 22:25​

In the time Anik spoke, Timea ate some of the smaller pieces of meat that had finished roasting, swallowing not long after Anik finished speaking. "Hmm. Not especially, no", she answered. "I could tell you another story from personal experience, however."

 

[Silence]

Mt. Faotar, Caverns - Day 11 - 22:25

"That would be nice, yes." Anik said, with a smile. "I'm afraid all else what I can talk about from my past is a lot darker. But if you know something good - I would like to hear it."

Mt. Faotar, Caverns - Day 11 - 22:25​

"Okay." Timea took another small bite, then cleared her throat, mostly for dramatic purposes. "This happened not all that long ago. I was going west-wards, to hunt for my favourite meal. I was moving over the sea, and was nearing the coast when it happened. I heard voices, singing. A beautiful sound, the most so I've ever heard - A melody that words couldn't describe.

I drew closer to investigate, but a thick fog hung in the air, and I couldn't see much more than their shadows through it. Curious, I continued moving closer, and the closer I got, the clearer the singing became. It then began feeling like the melody clouded my mind, as much as the fog clouded my sight. And soon, the singing was all I could think about. It went from beautiful, to alluring - compelling, even! I almost completely lost control of myself, I had to see the singers!"

Timea paused, and took another small bite, swallowing this quickly. "Breaking through the fog, I finally saw them; At first glance, they looked like human dames, but on closer inspection, I saw they had feathers along their heads and arms, and fins along their arms, legs, and backs. Still, they were quite eye-pleasing. When they noticed me, however, it didn't seem they thought the same way. Scared, the dames dived into the water, and disappeared below the surface. And not long after, my mind cleared up. I moved onto the rocks in the waters, and was left wondering what in the world I had experienced."

Timea paused again, then let out a soft snicker. "It turned out these creatures use their song to lure in prey, stranding them on the craggy rocks, before eating them. I suppose with myself, they bit off more than they could chew, as they say."

Anik listened closely and in silence, really interested in the story.

She laughed as well, as Timea finished the story. "That's really curious. That they even could lure you ... but funny enough, just running away as they saw you. Now I kind of would want to listen to this music as well, but I'm wondering ... they probably lure males, if you say that they were dames. But it worked for you, and it would probably for me as well ... although I wonder how I would react. I would not need to get closer, as this would do nothing for me.

... really curious. I like hearing different songs, and they are so many sounds I have no heard yet!"

"Well, it was the sound that attracted me, more than anything else. So it would've almost certainly affect you, too. Maybe even more so than me, since sound is more important to you. We may never know", Timea stated, then took another large bite.

"Either way, I'll be busy eating for a while. In the meantime, you should try and get some sleep, so you won't wake up too late."

Mt. Faotar, Caverns - Day 11 - 22:29

"Alright, I'll try." Anik answered, not really confident that she would be able to do so. Nevertheless, she walked to a point in the caverns, carrying her bag with her, where she felt it would be warm and protected enough.

Laying down, she nevertheless fell asleep soon enough, as this high up in the mountains there was little to distract her. Her sleep was, as well, quite good and refreshing, and she naturally woke after about 6 hours.

Mt. Faotar, Caverns - Day 12 - 01:30​

Over the course of three and a half hours, Timea finished her meal, leaving the larger of the two bison mostly eaten, The meat from the caribou filling her a little before hand, she had a few ribs left, which she put near the smaller bison, to be eaten in the morning. The two hours, Timea spent finishing her second carving. She was tempted to keep adding in details, but as she had reached a point where more would only detract from the statuette, forced herself to stop. The remainder of the time, Timea spent looking out of the mouth of the cavern, looking the mountain over, to see if she could spot pieces of flint, knowing what to look for from asking in Calibeth City. Regardless if she could spot anything, she would then look out over the landscape in the distance.

When Anik woke, Timea looked behind her, and moved away from the edge, heading closer to Anik, and switching watch.

Mt. Faotar, Caverns - Day 12 - 10:00​

Waking after eight and a half hours, Timea woke up. Yawning, she got into a sitting position, and looked around, looking for Anik.

Mt. Faotar, Caverns - Day 12 - 10:00

Anik was relaxing quite close to Timea, as the blanket was the thing that would most keep her warm. She had not done much in the night, had occasionally wandered off to Faotar and spoken with him. Aside from that, she did not dare walk outside the caverns, instead exploring a bit inside, feeling quite good about having complete orientation and basically vision in them.

When she heard Timea, she got up as well, turned her head to her, and smiled. "Good morning. Did you sleep well?"

Mt. Faotar, Caverns - Day 12 - 10:00​

"Good morning", Timea said in return, groggy, but relatively cheery. "I certainly can't complain. I've missed sleeping in caves." She was quiet for a moment, stretching her arms and midriff, then letting out another small yawn. "And you slept soundly too, I saw. So we both had a nice snooze, today~"

 

[Silence]

Mt. Faotar, Caverns - Day 12 - 10:00

"Yes, and ... you slept in caverns a lot? ... I hope we find more then, because I enjoyed it quite a bit. A lot better than just out in the open.

Anyways, I think we are well rested, and should have a good breakfast, so today should be a good day! ... hopefully at least." Anik said.
