These are at least my hopes.

Have your crew killable the entire game, not just the end. Too many bad decisions could either lead to crippling wounds or death. And don't make them choices in a option but instead, by what actions you take. If you can, don't even let us know we are making them.

If your going to take out equipment, increase weapon customization and upgrading. start off with a military grade weapons and over time, lead to custom prototype designs. Trust me, Shepard would be great for getting lots of results in field testing. You could even get us involved like asking what we thought was great or what needs improvement which would lead to weapons we designed.

Speaking of the weapons, go back to how they were in mass effect 1, heat sinks feel like a big step backwards in weapon design then the overheat variety. makes sense to take the gun that doesn't run out of ammo.

Either bring back leveling to make it an Rpg or Remove it to make it a better shooter. Dancing in between is ruining both.

Take out the morale system, consequences should be the deciding factor...after we have already made them.

Some space fighting would be great, this is a sci-fi after all.

A better persuasion/intimidate system, if I need to pick a certain option to progress then it's no longer a choice.

I recruited nearly all the characters in ME2 then 360 deleted my save files and I only restarted it yesterday. I'm finding it incredibly depressing. The universe is so overwhelmingly dark, I don't remember the first one being this relentlessly bleak.
Just as ME was made to make you feel alone, ME2 was made to feel darker.

It also seems shorter (the 3 games together will be about the same length as a normal RPG) and more of a shooter than an RPG.
Uh?
That is so outright wrong, both in the length given to a "normal" RPG and the length given to the current ME games.

I think the shooting mechanics are terrible, just the same as gears of war, nothing reacts to being shot and everything takes a ton of bullets.
Loki mech's can have their arm shot off and people do react to being shot. Again that is just outright wrong.

Shooting should either be realistic (e.g. cod) or fun (e.g. unreal tournament), but this is neither. The abilities aren't fun to use.
Apart from that stupid rule you've got, all that is just your personal take on the combat. I loved it.

I really do love the universe though, and the cultural zeitgeists (e.g. Asari needing another species to breed with is a smart interesting idea)
Asari do not need another species to breed.

but I really don't like the gameplay or map design. It's pretty clear Bioware excel only at creating great characters, dialogue interactions and plot, and everything else in the game (world, gameplay) suffers.
I disagree.
If you can't see the fun in Charge then I pity you. (Thats mostly a joke)

And now you get on topic.
I'm sure a lot don't agree but I'd like ME3 to be more focused on interesting society interactions/quests (i.e. what Bioware is good at) and less on boring linear combat sections. The societies are really too small when that's the only good thing in the game.
I won't continue to point out how I disagree on the gameplay, as you seem to just not like it, rather than think it is broken. However what you are asking for is a game that is little more than talking and mini-games within a sandbox.

Tali's damn face. And a vollus without its life suit.
You know those things explode in normal gravity right?
yeah seriously? part of the reason i did a romance with her was to see her face. it was such blue balls...well not for shepard.
but i think they should show both sexes for each species
Volus do, as seen here,

Look at the biology section.

I want BioWare to grow some balls and actually come up front and say "THERE'S A REASON THERE'S A 3 ON THE END!"

I mean, seriously. I loved ME2 and all... definitely a great improvement on the first, but. What they did with 'making your choices in the first game affect this game' was just lazy.

And ME3 DOES NOT NEED TO DO THAT. But it's going to. Know what that means? It /doesn't matter if you saved any of your party members/. They CAN all die, so they're going to have one scene maximum in the third game.

Also... no Mako in the third game. Please. No Mako. Either that or find a better way to control it.

gundams. mech battles, jetpack, and giant robot wolvs who shoot lasers out of their eyes, and huger planets. a bit more guns(but not too much) a longer campaign and MORE SIDE MISSIONS. i loved the side missions. it all ended too soon, that is to say, the game ended too soon

I'd just like to see a middle ground of 1 and 2 when it comes to weapons. I like the new ammo system better, and having defined playstyles of the weapons was fine. But only 2 choices in each weapon until late in the game, and then you get ONE more gun in one of the categories. Give a few more weapon options (not as fucking DLC), and bring back the ME1 style of weapon modding. Like let me put a heat sink on something like the WIDOW so I get more shots out of it.

Other than that, Mordin, Legion and Liara better goddam be in it. >:O

Oh, and some space warfare would be cool. Especially if it factored in decisions from the second game, like ending the trial in the best way has both the Geth and Quarians sending you some fleet support, along with the Alliance or Cerberus depending if you were a total douche or not.

I really did like the mako, and i absolutely HATED planet scanning. That can go shove its probe in whatever its ass is. Also, less "Absolute-one-way-or-the-other-or-you're-fucked" mechanic with the good/evil spectrum. Sometimes you just wanted to be a douche, but if you were a predominately good character you got screwed over when your teammates started hating you.

I would just be happy if it makes me WANT to play it through a second time. I had no urge to play through ME2 after I clocked it, unlike it's predecessor.

While I could probably write for several pages, I'll try to restrain myself.

Story-wise: Stay the course. I've enjoyed the story and setup so far; just realize the crazy diversity you've set us up for. I mean, either you've saved several alien races (Rachni, krogan, geth, etc.) or you've fucked them all over completely - when it comes down to rallying the universe against the Reapers, EVERYONE should treat you differently based on the choices made from the first two games. DON'T make it a stand-alone game (like ME2), where your interactions from ME1 don't carry much weight. I would hope this significance extends past the occasional email.

Gameplay-wise: I was okay with sacrificing some of the depth (armor/weapon/ammo choices) in favor of more streamlined options, especially since it kept the combat fast-paced and kickass all the way through (I wasn't pausing every 10 seconds to see if someone dropped Predator armor). I was NOT okay with sacrificing scope for convenience, since planet-exploration in the Mako - while flawed in some aspects - still gave a sense of awe and wonder at the size of the universe. I didn't find scanning to be as annoying as some people, but I do feel they limited the immersion that setting foot on unexplored terrain gives a player.

Character-wise: I'm fine with having no new squadmates whatsoever, no new love-interests either (it's complicated enough as it is). You spent all this time fleshing-out these 15 or so people, and for the most part it's done quite well - so don't give me some bullshit Wrex-like answers as to why they won't join you this time around (dude, there won't BE a Tuchanka if we don't get this done, don't puss out on me). Then again, the fact that you can kill everyone is just going to cause a ton of difficulty, so I have no effing clue how this will play out, at all. Seriously. I'm worried. How do you make a single game where 12 people might be dead without limiting them all to secondary roles?

On the one hand, I trust Bioware to know what they're doing and to execute it well. On the other hand, wrapping up this series properly is going to be one tall fucking task to say the least. I do not envy their responsibility.

I hope they re-expand some of the RPG elements particularly the inventory. In the second game it just felt so shallow, especially concerning weapons, and I liked fiddeling around with upgrades in the first. I hope they keep loyalty missions for the third, but I hope they're not as big of a focus, (read: not half the damn game), I like the idea of them, and some of them were awesome, but for the rest it just felt like I was slogging through.

I want Ashley and Shepard to get back together and for their relationship to mend, she was my favourite gal in the series and I would like her back.
I'd also like the relationship rebuilding to be central to the plot, not just another case of 'Loyalty mission, three romantic conversations then sex' I'm talking about an actual well developed arc as the two star crossed lovers rebuild that old spark again.

I also want to see Wrex leading the krogan and being a valuable ally, I also want this to be a reuinion of every major character that's ever appeared in the past two games to make the story more perfectly put together.

Most of all though, I want it to bring back some of the charm and ambiance from the original and once again wow me with the beauty of the lovingly recreated world of Mass Effect. I want more emphasis on the world exploring and a lot less on planet mining... a LOT less.

Also again, make the story huge and epic and have everything, the alliance of all races, the relationship mending with Ashley and everything else all fit together like it did before in the first Mass Effect. Most of all I want this to be epic.

Bioware have kind of painted themselves into a corner with this one; there are so many character relationships and plot threads that can be in so many different potential states it's going to be tough to resolve everything in a satisfying way.

What are they going to do about returning characters, I wonder. Barring Liara the whole cast has gone all Schrodinger's cat on us. So will Bioware give us a whole new party, with survivors from previous games only making painfully brief but technically necessary cameos? Or will they take the time to write scripts for characters who may or may not make an appearance in every playthrough? Everyone's got a different favourite handful of characters, and it would be disappointing to not give them all the chance at one last hurrah... But how do you write a story containing over a dozen people who might not show up?

And the business with the rachni and the geth collective and the genophage data and the collector base and the fate of the council... There are a ton of variables that really feel like they deserve to be carried out to their conclusion. And, as has been pointed out above, more than an email feels warranted in several cases.

Since this will be the last in the trilogy, it make senses for the ending climax to be your standard epic confrontation battle. And some of the events in the last games could be takes as the first steps towards, I dunno, building an army? Preserving the geth collective and the rachni queen, letting a more level-headed krogan take charge of a clan, discussion with the quarians and their preparing for war against the reapers... Gaining allies and influencing factions to unite and align in the direction of this ridiculously huge threat would be a worthy subject for the end of the trilogy, and some of the groundwork could have already been set--assuming it's usable, of course. Either way, I hope we get a decent ending--for a company that writes such fantastic characters and intricate stories, Bioware seems unwilling to make particularly verbose conclusions for their games.

Hrm.

Well. Anyway. I'd like to see my favourite characters back in action again. More dialogue from party members would be nice, if possible. A retool of the inventory system from the first game wouldn't go amiss, and I'd be happy if they scrapped the ammo system of the second. Really, I just hope #3 is good. I don't care how long we have to wait as long as Mass Effect 3 lives up to its potential.

...And come on, guys. Keeping Tali's face hidden preserves her mystique.

Female Krogans. Seriously, where are the females or do they all just look the same as the dudes?

The Mako. I liked it and think if they added more stuff to shoot and do in it then it would be the most kick ass tank-rover-partywagon ever!

More of the same excellent quality (please don't screw it up with number 3, oh please oh please).

More RPG. Number 2 felt too much like a shooter the regeneration life and really small lifebar got to me a few times.

Also, thermal-clips are bullshit because they are a step backwards in technology, please remove them. The heat system was more interesting in game design anyways.

I posted this in another topic, but this is the updated version and I think what I said is worth repeating.

<color=red>WARNING: Wall of text inbound.

- Miranda, Garrus and Thane coming back as a squadmate/love interest again.
- The same LI system but let you do more stuff at the end of the game with them. New dialog, some more unique things to do in the cabin, etc.
- Also, better romance scenes. Seriously, ME2's were nowhere near as... interesting as the first one was.
- The upgrade system making a return and having a shitload more upgrades available. Having 100,000 Palladium and 120,000 Platinum lying around gathering space dust was kind of a waste.
- As for resource gathering, space combat with the Normandy would be interesting. Have a variety of battles (1v1, 2v2, 2v1, 20 weak ships versus you, etc. Maybe with special conditions like you're fighting another ship around a very large planet made of molten rock and its gravity is pulling you towards it, forcing you to stay away from it as it's an instant kill hazard, or having your Thanix Cannon disabled due to some sort of EMP, so many possibilities) with other hostile species' ships. Once you've won, you board their ship, kill any survivors, salvage what you can and then blow their ship to hell. It'd also be a nice bonus for people who bought the ship upgrades in ME2. There would be a lot to do to keep it from getting repetitive (player vs. player fights online?), but it's be new. Also, having this to fight...
...the Persian army of Reaper ships that turn up in the ending cutscene would be epic.
- I'd love to see a co-op option, and maybe multiplayer, as long as there are no damn achievements I have to get by playing with randoms.
- A better squad upgrade system. Maxing out three of my teammates' abilities and having three permanent squad points left over was annoying. ME1 gave you measly 2% bonuses to abilities from one level to the next with a ton of Squad Points to distribute, while ME2 had higher abilities costing more squad points with less to give out and them being drastically more effective as you leveled them. Personally, I'd like to see ME3 have a happy medium alongside the ability to max your character out. Give the player an even number of squad points for each level up, have each ability cost one point up until level 6/8/whatever other even number, except for the last one which costs two points and upgrades like it does in ME2.
- A higher level cap.
- The same Paragon/Charm, Renegade/Intimidate system, except make it more forgiving.
- The same weapon/thermal clip system but ME1's ammo upgrade system. I hated the fact that I had to use biotics to change my gun's ammo.
- Let me tackle the highest difficulty setting right from the start again.
- Horde Mode. Thanks to my recent obsession with Nazi Zombies, I had a discussion with a friend on how awesome it would be if four Shepards were fighting an undead horde in Der Riese, complete with Der Riese's Pack-A-Punch weapon upgrades, teleporters and ME2's Class Powers and overall mechanics.

*dusts off hands* That should do it.

Honestly, Mass Effect 2 was so god awfully bad that I really don't care at this point.
Jesus, maybe waiting till a few more people posted before bashing the game might help.

OT: I want it to be more random on how the events play out.

It was actually getting to the point where I was getting angry about people bragging that no one had died. That is bullshit. Where the hell is the fun in looking up ways to keep people safe on the internet? That's not making a choice, that is you letting other people play the game for you. Come on people, you basically destroyed half the purpose of the game.

It was way to obvious on how to survive the final mission, and it bugged me.

Also, fix the biotics system. How hard is it to make the powers fun to use?
